Chapter 255: Inheritance Hall!
Chapter 255: Inheritance Hall!
Along the way, they encountered numerous chambers sealed by defensive intent barriers. However, with Li Yun’s strength, those barriers posed little challenge. One after another, he shattered them, allowing the group to obtain various martial arts manuals and several valuable treasures.
Half a day passed like this.
At last, they emerged from the winding labyrinth of passages and arrived at a vast underground lake.
A single narrow log bridge stretched across the surface, extending nearly five hundred meters to the other side.
The water beneath it was a murky dark green, and from time to time, bubbles rose slowly to the surface, releasing faint ripples.
Han Xue picked up a small piece of metal and tossed it toward the lake.
Before it could even touch the surface, the metal began to corrode visibly. By the time it reached the water, it had already melted into nothing.
The three of them fell silent.
The toxicity of the lake was terrifying.
Even the faint gas rising from it carried a corrosive effect that made approaching it extremely dangerous.
“The water is highly poisonous. We absolutely cannot touch it.”
Han Xue’s voice was serious.
“Flying across might not be an option either.”
Although five hundred meters was not a significant distance for them, and they could easily cross it with a single leap under normal circumstances, this was no ordinary place.
Han Li narrowed his eyes as he looked ahead.
“The owner of this tomb would not leave such an obvious path without setting restrictions. There must be something preventing us from crossing it so easily.”
“Let us test it first.”
Li Yun picked up a piece of metal and threw it toward the opposite side of the lake.
Crack!
Before the metal could even complete its arc, it shattered abruptly in mid-air, as though crushed by an invisible force. The sheer pressure behind that force was even more terrifying than the corrosive poison below.
Li Yun’s expression grew serious.
“It seems the only way across is the log bridge.”
The bridge itself looked fragile and unstable, yet there was no alternative path.
Without hesitation, Li Yun released his 40% Sword Intent, allowing it to envelop his entire body like an invisible barrier. Only then did he step onto the log bridge.
The moment his foot touched the surface, his Sword Intent began to fluctuate violently.
Li Yun’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“As expected.”
Both the poisonous gas rising from the lake and the crushing force in the air were manifestations of True Intent. Since they originated from intent, the only way to resist them was with one’s own intent.
Fortunately, his Sword Intent was strong enough to hold them at bay, at least for now.
After confirming this, Li Yun stepped back off the bridge and turned to Han Xue.
“We will need at least 30% intent to cross safely. Come with me. I will extend my Sword Intent to protect you, and we will cross together.”
Han Li had already reached that level, but Han Xue had not.
Li Yun knew that his own 40% Sword Intent was far more stable and powerful, making him the best choice to shield her.
Han Xue nodded without hesitation and stepped behind him.
Li Yun expanded his Sword Intent once more, extending its coverage to include her within its protective range.
Then, the two of them stepped onto the log bridge together.
As they advanced, the pressure intensified with every step.
By the time they reached the middle of the bridge, Li Yun’s Sword Intent was trembling violently, as though it might collapse at any moment. The invisible forces pressing against them grew heavier, constantly testing the limits of his control.
Even so, he gritted his teeth and pushed forward.
Near the end, the strain became almost unbearable, and his Sword Intent nearly shattered under the pressure.
But in the final moments, they stepped off the bridge.
Both of them had safely reached the other side.
“Li Yun, thank you.” Han Xue thanked Li Yun before turning to look at Han Li.
“Brother, be careful.”
Han Xue spoke with concern as she looked at Han Li.
Han Li gave a firm nod. Releasing his 30% Sword Intent, he allowed it to envelop his body before stepping onto the log bridge.
The moment he set foot on it, he felt the same oppressive force that Li Yun had described. As he advanced, his Sword Intent began to tremble, and his blood and qi surged uncontrollably under the pressure.
By the time he reached the midpoint, the strain had become intense.
However, unlike Li Yun, he only needed to protect himself. If he had been required to shield another person at the same time, he knew he would not have been able to endure it.
Even so, he persisted.
After several breaths, he finally stepped off the bridge and reached the other side.
“This tomb most likely belongs to an Earthly Core Realm expert, or perhaps someone even stronger.” Han Li let out a wry smile. “Only a cultivator at that level could manipulate Martial Dao True Intent with such terrifying mastery.”
Li Yun nodded in agreement.
Han Xue, who had been listening quietly, suddenly spoke.
“Do you think we will be able to reach the Three Core Realms one day?”
Her words caused both Li Yun and Han Li to fall into brief silence.
Han Li soon shook his head.
“Those realms are still far beyond our reach. There is no point thinking about them now.”
He shifted his gaze forward.
“It looks like there is a grand hall ahead.”
Indeed, not far from them stood a massive hall. Its doors were already open, and faint figures could be seen moving rapidly inside, as though chasing something.
“Let us go and take a look.”
Li Yun stepped forward without hesitation.
The three of them entered the hall.
Inside, countless specks of light floated through the air, drifting like tiny spirits. They moved unpredictably, flashing from place to place as if alive.
Mu Lan, Shi Mo, and Wu Lin were already inside, each of them chasing after these wandering lights.
“Are these… inheritances?”
Han Li raised an eyebrow, his expression turning thoughtful.
Inheritances were extremely special.
They were not tangible objects, but streams of information left behind by powerful experts. Until one obtained them, no one could know what they contained.
Some inheritances were minor, consisting of powerful martial arts or secret techniques.
Others were major inheritances, representing the complete legacy of an unparalleled expert, containing everything they had accumulated over a lifetime.
