Chapter 2887: Chapter 2888: He Told Me to Cut It Off, So I Did

Shu Jingchu listened and half-understood at best. In the end she couldn’t help asking, "So you really plan to wipe out the Hundred Benevolence Store?"

"Of course!"

In fact, from the moment Xue An first laid eyes on those two iron cages outside the Hundred Benevolence Store, he had already formed a resolve to kill everyone in it.

Although he was somewhat angry at the Elf race for their own lack of effort, that didn’t mean he could tolerate the most basic bottom line of conscience being trampled at will.

Just for treating sentient, spiritual intelligent beings as mere cargo, the Hundred Benevolence Store deserved to die a hundred times and still not be forgiven.

Shu Jingchu wanted to ask more, but when she saw the decisiveness in Xue An’s eyes, she couldn’t help obediently shutting her mouth.

Very soon, they set out on the road back.

Meanwhile, inside the Hundred Benevolence Store, Li Dengfeng was also feeling ill at ease, unable to sit still.

In fact, this state had begun not long after the hunting team had just set out.

It felt as if some important matter had been forgotten.

That made him feel like he was sitting on needles; he didn’t even have the heart to drink the Spiritual Tea he normally loved best.

"Where’s Han Bao?" He suddenly thought of something and asked the subordinate beside him.

"Shopkeeper Han said he had something extremely important to do today, so he took leave and didn’t come in!"

Li Dengfeng frowned. "That Han Bao... what kind of nonsense is he pulling!"

But then he immediately pushed these thoughts aside and asked, "What time is it now?"

"Reporting, Old Master, it’s nearly dusk already!"

"Nearly dusk, huh!" Li Dengfeng stood up and walked to the corridor window in the central courtyard.

Outside, the sky was dim and heavy, but the Hundred Benevolence Store had already lit its candles, so it didn’t look particularly gloomy.

Li Dengfeng’s heart was agitated.

By now, several hours had passed since the hunting team had departed.

Given the difference in time flow between the various planes, those few hours already amounted to quite a long stretch.

In the past, the hunting team should have long since returned to report.

So what was going on today?

Why was there still no word?

Could something have happened?

This thought gave Li Dengfeng a jolt, but then he shook his head and dismissed that concern.

Because in his view, that was simply impossible.

First of all, the ones who went out this time were all elite members of the Hundred Benevolence Store, and their captain Zuo Shi was especially experienced, so there shouldn’t have been any mishap.

The only variable lay in that Xue An who had been added at the last minute.

After all, Li Dengfeng had always harbored doubts about Xue An’s identity.

But to prevent unexpected situations, Li Dengfeng had deliberately sent Jia Zijie to personally accompany the group.

This Jia Zijie was his absolutely trusted confidant, and his strength was nothing short of astonishing.

Especially since he was carrying that item on him this time, it could be said there was no way anything could go wrong.

Thinking of this, Li Dengfeng couldn’t help laughing at himself for being overly nervous, to the point his mind had become hypersensitive.

And just then, a scream of utmost, piercing misery suddenly rang out from the side courtyard of the Hundred Benevolence Store.

Li Dengfeng was taken aback and immediately asked, "What’s going on? Where did that scream come from?"

His subordinates rushed out, and only after a brief moment did they return to report.

"Reporting, Old Master, judging from the sound, it seems to have come from the side courtyard where Shopkeeper Han resides!"

"Han Bao? What the hell is that guy doing?" Li Dengfeng knitted his brows tightly, a little angry.

At a time like this, that guy wasn’t helping, but instead was making trouble.

"Come on, let’s go take a look!"

Going from the central courtyard to the side courtyard wasn’t far, and with Li Dengfeng’s pace, he arrived in the side courtyard in just moments.

In the yard stood several little maidservants, shivering. When they saw Li Dengfeng arrive, they all dropped to their knees with a thud.

"What’s going on?"

"Re–reporting, Old Master, we don’t know either. Just now Shopkeeper Han drove us out of the room, saying he was going to do something extremely important, and that without his order, no one was allowed to enter!"

"So we waited out here, and not long after that we heard Shopkeeper Han screaming inside!"

"You didn’t go in to see what was happening?" Li Dengfeng asked harshly.

The girls looked at each other.

Without Han Bao’s order, who among them would dare to act on their own?

So they all lowered their heads.

Seeing this, Li Dengfeng was so furious he could barely contain himself. He strode up to the door and kicked out, intending to smash it open.

But unexpectedly, that kick didn’t do a thing to the door.

The door was shut fast, standing there without so much as a quiver.

Now Li Dengfeng really felt his face being lost.

"What the hell! He actually sealed the door with a Secret Technique?"

As he spoke, Li Dengfeng struck out with one palm.

Boom!

His palm slammed directly onto the door. Threads of light immediately flared on the door, trying to resist that palm strike.

But after only a brief moment, those glimmers shattered entirely, and then the door itself turned to fine powder.

Li Dengfeng stepped inside, and was completely stunned by what he saw.

There lay Han Bao, face deathly pale, sprawled on the floor. Blood was pouring from between his legs, dyeing the floor of the room red.

"This... this..."

Li Dengfeng stared, eyes wide, and involuntarily took a few steps forward, wanting to check on Han Bao’s condition.

Just then he felt something soft underfoot; when he looked down, he saw something like an earthworm lying limply on the floor.

At first, Li Dengfeng didn’t understand what it was. Only after a moment did he suddenly realize, and he retreated several steps as if he’d encountered snakes and scorpions, furiously grinding the sole of his foot against the ground, as though trying to scrub away that soft, disgusting sensation.

At the same time, Han Bao abruptly came to, then flung himself toward Li Dengfeng’s feet like a grieving widow.

"No, don’t step on my treasure! My treasure, wuu wuu wuu wuu wuu!"

That crying truly could make listeners grieve and onlookers weep.

The key thing was, Han Bao was very good at crying. He cried for a full half hour before he barely quieted down a little.

But quiet or not, the resentment in Han Bao’s eyes was so intense it could kill.

He just sat there staring silently at the little earthworm in his hand, as if everything in the outside world no longer had anything to do with him.

Li Dengfeng couldn’t help asking, "What on earth happened? Say something, will you?"

"It’s gone, gone forever! Before, though it was useless, at least it was something I could hold onto. And now, just great, even that last bit of solace is gone! Wuu wuu wuu wuu wuu, my life is so bitter!" Han Bao muttered to himself, on the verge of another breakdown.

"What’s gone?"

"My treasure is gone! Look, this was my treasure!" Han Bao suddenly grew agitated and shoved the earthworm in his hand toward Li Dengfeng’s face.

Li Dengfeng jumped in fright and reeled backward. Fortunately there was a pillar behind him to catch him, or he would have fallen.

But Han Bao seemed not to notice at all, mumbling like a madman.

"He said ’break to build anew,’ told me to cut it off, and when it grew back it would be brand new. But he never told me that this damn thing doesn’t grow back at all!"
