Investing in the Three Villainesses Gives Me Infinite Returns
Chapter 44: White And Black Swords
An hour later, Elias and Benjamin were walking through the streets toward the Sun Church at the center of the city, and the atmosphere had changed considerably since the church bell had first sounded.
The streets were crowded with people who had abandoned their usual routines, while merchants hurried to close their shops and parents pulled their children closer as rumors spread from one person to another.
"What do I do?"
"A spatial rift appeared near the city! I do not want to die without marrying!" A man said.
"I do not want to die without marrying either!" A woman said.
The two looked at each other in surprise.
"What grade is it?" Another citizen asked while trembling in fear.
"Do not worry! The City Lord already formed the Kilmir Relief Order for situations like this!"
"The Kilmir Relief Order? Then we should be fine, right?"
"I heard they have a few Exalted among them!"
"Oh, that is great!"
Elias listened to the frightened voices around him without slowing his pace, and Benjamin’s expression gradually became more troubled as they approached the center of the city.
"It will get very troublesome for you, my lord," Benjamin said quietly.
"I know," Elias nodded, his expression remaining calm despite the situation. "But there is nothing I can do about that now."
Rather than continue thinking about Berlic Draveon and the problems waiting for him, Elias shifted his attention toward the rewards he had received.
’At least I have time to inspect them now.’
He mentally opened the system and focused on the two SS-grade skills.
An orange screen appeared before his eyes.
[Thousand Poison Immunity]
[Grade: SS]
[Your body, soul, and mind are immune to thousand kinds of poisons.]
Elias’s eyebrows rose.
’Body, soul, and mind?’
That was considerably more comprehensive than ordinary poison resistance.
His gaze shifted toward the second skill.
[Serene Mind of Geldnor]
[Grade: SS]
[Geldnor is the mystical creature which resides in the gap between two worlds, yet its mind never breaks. You have that mind.]
Elias stared at the description for several seconds.
’Geldnor...’
The name immediately caught his attention.
’What kind of creature lives between two worlds?’
The description offered no further explanation, leaving him with even more questions than before.
He dismissed the skill windows and opened another part of the system.
’Inventory.’
The familiar orange interface appeared before him, displaying the stored items inside its grid.
His gaze immediately fell upon the three occupied slots.
The first contained the remaining Extraordinary Sugar Fruits, with the number 89 displayed in the corner, while the other two contained the rewards he had only just received.
Elias focused on the first unfamiliar item.
A description appeared.
[Mythical White Hellbreaker Sword]
[Grade: SS]
[A sword forged from the spine of an ancient archangel, it holds the mystical power to purge any demon and uncorrupt mana and aura.]
Elias’s eyes widened slightly.
’Oh? This is amazing... only if I knew what it is talking about.’
The sword could apparently purge demons and even restore corrupted mana and Aura, which sounded incredibly useful, but he didn’t know the meaning behind that.
However, he still had no idea what a demon was.
He shifted his attention to the final item.
[Mythical Black Hellcaller Sword]
[Grade: SS]
[A sword forged from the spine of an ancient demon lord, it holds the mystical power to control any demon and corrupt mana and aura.]
Elias stared at the description.
’Huh?’
His brows furrowed.
’These two swords seem to be opposite of one another, but how do they relate to my wives...?’
The question lingered in his mind.
The White Hellbreaker could purge demons and cleanse corrupted energy, while the Black Hellcaller could control demons and corrupt mana and Aura.
Considering the three women he had married and the strange circumstances surrounding each of them, Elias couldn’t help wondering why the system had given him these particular weapons.
However, before he could think about it any further, Benjamin’s voice interrupted his thoughts.
"There it is, my lord," Benjamin said.
Elias returned his attention to the street ahead, and his eyes fell upon the Sun Church.
The building dominated the center of the city, its white walls standing out among the surrounding structures while long red banners hung from its exterior, each one bearing the golden symbol of the sun.
Colorful windows decorated the walls, casting faintly colored reflections across the stone whenever the sunlight passed through them, while a tall tower rose along the left side of the structure and extended above the surrounding buildings.
Above the main entrance was a massive golden sun carved into the stone, its rays spreading outward like a divine crown.
However, the most noticeable sight was the crowd gathered before the gates.
Hundreds of citizens had gathered around the entrance, but the church knights had formed a line that divided them into two groups, leaving a clear path between the crowd and the gates.
As Elias and Benjamin approached, the murmuring gradually grew louder.
"Who is that?"
"That crimson hair... it must be the Crimson Ducal Clan’s Trash."
"What is he doing here?"
"Do you not know? He is part of the Kilmir Relief Order."
"What? How can that be?"
Elias’s expression turned somber.
However, he ignored the whispers and continued walking, while Benjamin followed several steps behind him.
The crowd’s attention remained fixed on Elias, and some people moved aside as he approached, although the church knights continued guarding the entrance.
When Elias reached the gates, two knights stepped forward and crossed their weapons before him.
"Halt!" one of them commanded.
Elias frowned and looked at the knights, but before either of them could say anything, the small bell at the entrance rang.
TING!
The knights immediately straightened their backs.
They exchanged a glance before lowering their weapons and stepping aside.
Elias’s expression turned calm as he looked at the bell, then toward the open entrance, and after a brief pause, walked into the church.
Benjamin followed behind him.
