Investing in the Three Villainesses Gives Me Infinite Returns
Chapter 29: Cheating Womaniser
Elias and Natasha walked back to their room together, and the moment they stepped inside, Elias closed the door behind them before turning toward her.
She glanced at him before she moved toward the larger bed.
He followed, and the two sat down beside one another, his gaze settling on the deep frown that had remained on her face ever since she found him in the corridor.
He tilted his head slightly and sent a thought through Mental Whisper.
[Why are you making that face?]
Natasha looked at him for a moment before opening her notebook. She quickly wrote something and turned it toward him.
I was worried about you.
Elias blinked as he read the words.
[Huh? Why?]
Natasha lowered her gaze to the notebook again and wrote another sentence.
You did not return last night, so I assumed something happened to you.
"Ah..." Elias scratched his cheek awkwardly.
He had completely forgotten that Natasha would have no way of knowing where he had gone after leaving for the inauguration.
[I returned at night, but I had to rush to Monica’s room.]
Natasha’s brows furrowed, and she immediately wrote the next question.
Why?
Elias looked at the words for several seconds, wondering how much he should explain.
The three women had all suffered from their own tragedies, although each had fallen into her current condition at a different time.
Stella had been the first.
Eight years ago, the annihilation of the Bloodfang Clan had shattered her mind and caused her to fall into madness.
Five years later, Natasha had burned her spiritual veins, losing both her ability to speak and her ability to hear in the process.
Then, only two years ago, Monica had been poisoned while exploring a hidden ruin.
Hidden ruins were different from ordinary spatial rifts. Instead of appearing as cracks, tumors, or distortions in space, they were spatial rifts that had taken physical form, creating strange environments filled with unknown treasures and dangers.
Monica had entered one of those ruins as a talented mage, yet she had emerged carrying a poison that nobody had been able to identify.
Elias glanced at Natasha before sending another thought.
[Do you know about Monica Ragnar?]
He hoped she did, because explaining everything would take some time.
Natasha shook her head.
Elias sighed softly.
[Monica was once a prodigy of the Mage Tower. Many people believed she would eventually become a Magus.]
Natasha’s attention remained fixed on him as he continued.
[But two years ago, she explored a hidden ruin and was inflicted with an unidentified poison. Nobody was able to determine exactly what it was, and over time, it gradually paralyzed her from the neck down.]
Natasha’s expression became increasingly serious.
Elias continued explaining.
[Now and then, she experiences seizures. Whenever they happen, dark poisonous smoke comes out of her body, and I have to give her an antidote to stop the poison from getting worse.]
Natasha immediately lowered her head and began writing.
She turned the notebook toward him.
Did she have a seizure last night?
Elias nodded.
[Yes. It was the worst one I have ever seen.]
Natasha’s expression tightened with worry, but Elias wasn’t looking at her face anymore.
His gaze had fallen toward the edge of her nightgown, where the fabric had shifted slightly and exposed part of the burn mark on her thigh.
He stared at the scar for a moment, thinking of the pain she had been through, then he looked back at her and joked to lighten the mood.
[I nearly lost my own life while saving hers.]
However, the effect was the opposite of what he intended.
Natasha’s expression immediately darkened, and she quickly wrote something before she pushed the notebook toward him with more force than before.
If it was so dangerous, why did you do it?
To her, Elias was the only voice in her soundless world. Losing him sounded like once again returning to that nightmarish world.
Elias stared at the sentence.
His expression became confused because he couldn’t understand why she was asking such an obvious question.
[Because she is my wife?] He chuckled. [I promised Stella that I would stay and make the three of you happy.]
He smiled faintly.
[I also promised you, and I intend to see it through.]
Natasha’s golden eyes trembled.
She lowered her head as tears slowly gathered in the corners of her eyes and her fingers clenched the fabric of her nightgown.
He watched her in silence.
He didn’t think there was anything particularly special about what he had said. To him, it was simply a promise he intended to keep.
He had already accepted the three women as his wives, and although their circumstances were far more complicated than he had expected, he wasn’t planning to abandon them simply because his life had become difficult.
Natasha lowered her head further, trying to hide her face as the tears threatened to fall.
Then a familiar voice suddenly echoed inside Elias’s mind.
[Ding!]
[Affection Rate is increasing!]
[Natasha Sephila’s Affection Rate: 7]
Elias’s gaze swept across the orange screen, and his eyes widened slightly.
’Sev—’
However, before he could even think of anything, a loud bang suddenly came from the doorway.
The door to the room burst open.
Elias immediately turned his head toward the entrance, where Stella stood with her hands planted firmly against her hips and her cheeks puffed up in an exaggerated pout.
He furrowed his brow and asked in a sharp tone, "What are you doing, Stella?"
Stella stepped inside the room and glanced at Natasha, who was looking at her with a confused expression.
Stella’s eyes shifted to Elias, and she pointed a finger at him before she shouted while glaring, "Cheating womaniser!"
’Huh?’ He fell speechless, and for a moment, he simply looked at the woman standing a few meters away from him.
’What is this now?’
She was in her thirties and had the figure of a swordswoman who could inflict both fear and devotion, yet here she was acting like a child because of her unstable mind.
He felt an impending headache.
