I leaned back against the hood of the sleek supercar, parked right outside the high-rise, soaking in the crisp morning air. I was rocking my classic uniform: a worn-out, faded jacket, washed jeans, and scuffed sneakers.

The private elevator doors slid open, and Chloe stepped out into the sunlight.

She looked absolutely stunning. She had styled her new wardrobe into a sharp, elevated "scholar" aesthetic—a fitted dark plaid blazer over a crisp white button-down, a pleated skirt, and tailored boots, carrying a sleek designer tote. It kept her intellectual, bookish charm, but turned the volume up to pure high-end elegance. She fit the vibe completely.

She walked toward the car, but as her eyes drifted over to what I was wearing, she slowed down and froze mid-step.

Slowly, she reached up and pulled her glasses down to the bridge of her nose, staring at me in total, disbelieving shock.

"What... what are you wearing?" she asked, her eyes darting from my faded jacket to the glowing million-dollar carbon-fiber machine behind me.

I shrugged smoothly, resting an elbow on the roof of the car with a grin. "What do you mean? This is my best fit."

Chloe let out a breathless, wheezing laugh, pushing her glasses back up her nose and shaking her head in complete amusement.

"You are so weird!" she chuckled, walking up to the passenger side. "You’re genuinely hilarious. I cannot believe you are driving a top-of-the-line, million-dollar supercar while dressed like you’re about to do yard work!"

"Hey," I said, opening the scissor door for her with a smirk as she stepped inside. "I’m dressed like a bum because the car is the fit. Besides, I’ll go buy myself a few high-end fits later today. Right now, we’ve got a grand entrance to make at school. Let’s go."

Chloe sank into the plush leather passenger seat, a glowing, confident smile on her face as the engine roared to life.

The low, terrifying growl of the twin-turbo engine echoed off the brick university buildings as I turned onto the main campus drive.

Instantly, the entire quad went silent.

Students on the sidewalks froze in their tracks. Phones were immediately pulled out as a dozen cameras started recording the dark, sleek supercar crawling along the pavement. Whispers rippled through the crowd like wildfire.

"Who the hell is that?"

"Is that a new student?"

"No way... that’s a million-dollar ride! Must be some ultra-rich heir or a foreign exchange kid!"

"Look at the carbon fiber on that thing!"

I casually pulled into a prime spot right at the front of the main courtyard, cutting the ignition. The deep mechanical hum died down, leaving an intense, suffocating silence hanging over the crowd. Dozens of eyes were glued to the driver’s side.

I pushed the scissor door upward, letting it swing smoothly toward the sky, and stepped out onto the concrete.

The collective gasp from the crowd was almost loud enough to drown out the morning breeze.

People blinked, rubbing their eyes in absolute disbelief. The "mysterious rich heir" standing next to the single most expensive vehicle on campus was wearing a faded jacket, worn jeans, and scuffed sneakers—the very same guy Julian and the Dean had tried to kick out just days before.

"Wait... is that him?!"

"No way! Isn’t that the guy whose scholarship got pulled?!"

"How is he driving a supercar dressed like a total casual?!"

I didn’t say a word. I just stood tall, leaning back against the door frame with a cool, unbothered smirk, letting the full weight of their awe wash over the quad.

Then, I walked around to the passenger side and popped the door open, offering my hand to Chloe.

When she stepped out—looking breathtaking in her sharp scholar aesthetic, radiating pure, effortless elegance—the whispering exploded into full-blown shock.

"Is that... Chloe Vance?!"

"Her uncle’s the Dean! What is she doing with him?!"

"She looks incredible... what happened to her?!"

Chloe held my hand firmly as she stood up, her chin held high, looking straight through the stunned crowd without an ounce of her old anxiety.

Just as the crowd was reaching a fever pitch, the high-pitched screech of tires cut through the courtyard.

Julian pulled up in his slick red convertible—the exact same car he used to flaunt around campus like he owned the place. He revved the engine loudly, parking aggressively in a spot nearby, clearly intending to steal the spotlight and assert his dominance like he always did.

He threw his car door open and stepped out with a confident, arrogant grin, waiting for the familiar heads to turn and the usual whispers to start.

Except... nobody cared.

Not a single phone turned toward him. Not a single person looked his way. The entire crowd’s attention was still completely glued to us, the dark carbon-fiber beast idling in the quad, and Chloe looking like an absolute queen at my side.

Julian’s smug smile instantly froze. He looked around, completely bewildered as to why the crowd was ignoring him, before his eyes finally landed on the hypercar—and then on me, standing right next to it in my faded jacket, holding Chloe’s hand.

His jaw literally dropped. His eyes nearly popped out of his head as he stared at my single-million-dollar machine, then at Chloe’s high-fashion transformation, and finally at me looking completely unbothered.

The contrast was brutal. His $80k convertible looked like a cheap plastic toy parked next to a fighter jet.

"No... no way," Julian stammered under his breath, his face turning an embarrassing, blotchy red as he realized the entire quad was watching him get completely overshadowed.

Chloe didn’t even give him the satisfaction of a full glance. She just adjusted her glasses, held my hand a little tighter, and let out a soft, amused scoff that was loud enough for Julian to hear.

"Look who decided to show up," I said smoothly, letting a sharp smirk hit my lips as I locked eyes with him across the pavement. "Nice ride, Julian. Did it come with a booster seat?"

A wave of snickers and quiet laughter rippled through the surrounding crowd. Julian clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white, utterly humiliated in front of the entire student body.
