Investing In Overlooked Women: I Get Cashback On Every Glow-Up
Chapter 10: Last Stop
Her uncle flinched, completely stunned into silence. His jaw hung open as he stared at her, utterly unaccustomed to his quiet, meek niece raising her voice.
"You don’t get to talk to him like that!" Chloe said, her voice shaking slightly with raw emotion, but not backing down an inch. "I’ve only known him for a few days—a few days—and in that short time, he has treated me with more respect, kindness, and dignity than this so-called ’family’ ever has in my entire life!"
"Chloe, how dare you—" her uncle started, his face flushing a deep, angry purple.
"No, how dare you!" she cut him off, pointing a firm finger right at his chest. "I am done writing your son’s papers. I am done being your free maid. I am done living in this toxic house as your personal punching bag!"
Her cousin stepped out of the hallway, frozen in absolute shock alongside his father. Both of them stared at Chloe as if she had suddenly transformed into a completely different person. The years of quiet submission and anxiety were completely gone, replaced by a woman who finally knew her worth.
Chloe turned her back on them without another word and walked toward her bedroom to grab her box of memories, leaving the two men standing in the middle of the room in utter, speechless shock.
I leaned against the doorway, a subtle, satisfied smirk playing on my lips.
[Target: Chloe Vance]
[Emotional Independence Achieved]
[Domestic Burden Lifted]
[Transformation Progress: 90%]
"I’ll give her five minutes to pack," I said coolly, looking her uncle straight in the eye. "Try to stop her, and we’ll see if your jaw holds up better than Julian’s."
Chloe marched out of her room holding a single, heavy cardboard box filled with her mother’s notebooks and her personal hard drive. Her uncle and cousin stood frozen in the hallway, both too intimidated by my presence to try and physically block her path.
As we reached the front door, her uncle found his voice again, his face twisting into a desperate, hateful scowl.
"You think you’re brave because you found some guy to play white knight?!" he spat after her, his voice echoing out onto the porch. "Mark my words, Chloe! You live under his roof, you mess around, and the second your grades slip below a perfect GPA, I will personally sign your expulsion papers! You won’t just be homeless—you’ll be ruined!"
Chloe stopped at the edge of the doorstep. She didn’t flinch. She didn’t look back with fear. Instead, she turned her head just enough to catch his glare, her eyes burning with pure confidence behind her polished lenses.
"Sign whatever you want," she said calmly, her voice cold and steady. "Because I’m not failing. And I’m never letting you touch my future again."
Without waiting for his response, she stepped out into the afternoon air and pulled the front door shut behind her, cutting off his angry shouting for good.
The air outside felt instantly lighter. She let out a long, shaky breath—the release of years of built-up pressure—and looked up at me with a soft, triumphant smile.
"I actually did it," she whispered, holding the box tight against her chest. "It’s over."
"It’s over," I confirmed, taking the heavy box from her hands and securing it onto the bike. "Now let’s get you to your real home."
Ten minutes later, we pulled up to the glass-and-steel entrance of the luxury high-rise. The building manager from earlier rushed out to meet us the moment we walked into the lobby, bowing respectfully as he handed over the master keycards and guided us straight to the private penthouse elevator.
The doors slid open on the top floor, revealing a breathtaking, open-concept suite. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrapped around the main living space, flooding the polished hardwood floors with warm sunlight and offering a sweeping, uninterrupted view of the entire city skyline. High-end modern furniture filled the space, and right by the entryway sat the massive stack of sleek, branded boxes delivered straight from the boutique.
Chloe walked into the center of the living room, completely spellbound. She looked out at the city view, then down at the luxury surroundings, her jaw slightly open.

The quiet ding of my phone confirmed the massive funds hitting my offshore account, but my attention stayed fixed on Chloe. She turned back toward me, her eyes glistening—not with stress or helplessness, but with genuine joy and relief.
"This... this is unbelievable," she said softly, walking over to stand right in front of me. "Thank you. For everything."
She looked up into my eyes, her cheeks taking on that familiar, flustered pink tint as she remembered our conversation outside the boutique.
"So..." she murmured, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "About that date you asked for..."
I grinned, folding my arms as I leaned against the kitchen island. "So, where are you taking me? Some five-star rooftop restaurant with a three-month waiting list?"
Chloe laughed, shaking her head as her cheeks flushed pink. "Are you kidding? After today, if I see another cloth napkin or golden chandelier, my brain might melt. Honestly... there’s this little taco stand three blocks off campus. Plastic stools, amazing salsa, and zero pretense. That still counts as a date to you, right?"
Her eyes searched mine, double-checking if I’d scoff at something so simple after dropping a fortune on her whole life.
"Tacos sound perfect," I said, giving her an easy smile. "Grounding is good. A place where we can just be ourselves."
Relief washed over her face, and she let out a soft, relaxed sigh.
"Now," I said, tapping the edge of the granite counter, "get settled in. Unpack your stuff, check out the bedroom, and make this place yours. I’ve got a couple of quick things to take care of outside, but I’ll be back to pick you up later."
"Okay," she said softly, walking me to the private elevator entrance. "Don’t take too long, Mr. Impulsive."
The elevator doors slid shut, cutting off her radiant smile. The moment I was alone in the quiet cabin, I pulled out my phone and tapped open my banking app.
[Account Balance: $1,906,000.00]
Nearly two million dollars sat cleanly in my account, completely untouched and fully liquid. The threat of expulsion was dust in the wind, my financial standing was absolute, and Chloe was finally safe, independent, and thriving.
As I stepped out through the luxury lobby and into the afternoon breeze, my mind turned toward the next move. Julian and the Dean were still nursing their bruised egos, and now that my pockets were deeper than ever, it was time to ensure they could never threaten either of us again.
