Investing in My Wife: But She's Already the Strongest!
Chapter 42: Result
- First Stage: (Golden Heaven Flame: 8.5%)
The result after an hour finally became apparent, and Enzo opened his eyes.
Although he hadn’t reached 10%, he was still satisfied.
This meant he was now closer to reaching 10%.
His head felt incredibly clear.
When he looked at Eva, he could think about her without interrupting his thoughts about cultivation.
It felt as though there were two of him, yet his consciousness remained one.
He stood up and stepped onto the floor without a single drop of water remaining on his body.
"Did anything happen during this hour?" he asked Eva.
He was merely asking, but the woman nodded.
"Yes. Someone came looking for you," she said.
"Who came looking for me?" Enzo was quite surprised to hear that.
"Someone from the CIA."
"The CIA." Enzo became even more surprised.
This American intelligence agency had long been one of the most feared government institutions.
They were extremely influential, even surpassing the military, because they had long been integrated with NASA and had developed many kinds of weapons.
This was actually the main reason technological development had progressed more slowly. All the experts in those fields were recruited solely to develop weapons.
They even possessed combat armor that was feared by Spiritual Warriors at the Giant level.
"That person is waiting in the Dean’s office," Eva continued.
Her expression was more serious than usual.
Unlike the Main Families, the CIA was an organization with countless members.
Moreover, they were an official organization.
Challenge them, and you could be considered a rebel against the country.
Only the Main Families could stand firmly before them, and even then, not all of them could.
It could be said that they were the reason the Main Families hadn’t turned the country into ten separate kingdoms.
Otherwise, they truly had the ability to do so by relying on the strength of the Lords of Earth.
"Then let’s go meet him." Enzo said.
He was curious.
He headed toward the Dean’s office.
Unexpectedly, today would be just like that day, with him going to the Dean’s office after finishing his time in the Spiritual Pool.
When he arrived, he saw the Dean standing beside the closed door of his office, leaning against the wall while smoking a thick cigar.
"Enzo!" He greeted him and walked over.
Even he didn’t look relaxed.
This made Enzo feel even more curious.
"Dean..." Enzo smiled. "I heard someone wants to meet me."
"That’s right. Just go in. That person requested a private meeting."
"Ohhh..." Enzo became even more curious. He nodded and pushed the door open.
The Dean was a proud man, yet he was allowing someone else to use his office while he waited outside.
This person was undoubtedly very important.
As soon as the office was revealed, Enzo became confused.
There was no one inside.
No, that wasn’t quite right.
His soul could detect the presence of a Weak Human Soul sitting on the sofa.
Someone was sitting there, but he couldn’t see them.
If he didn’t possess a Supreme Human Soul, Enzo doubted he would have been able to detect them.
Shua!
A flash of light appeared above the sofa before the figure of a handsome man in his thirties appeared, smiling.
Enzo became serious when he saw him.
From his feet to his neck, he wore clothing that appeared to be made of thin, flexible steel, while his hand held a helmet made from the same material.
"Enzo Muller, did you actually detect me?" he asked.
That was the first thing he said, and there was clear surprise in his eyes.
"No..." Enzo immediately denied it, realizing that his detection ability might be something surprising.
"Sir, who are you? What is your purpose in looking for me?" he asked, changing the subject.
"How about you close the door first and sit here?" the man replied.
"Alright!" Enzo did as he asked, closing the door before sitting across from him.
"It’s quite strange seeing someone this young become Miya’s husband." The man said.
Enzo furrowed his brows when he heard that and asked again, "Are you close to her?"
"We were classmates in high school. Of course, I wasn’t close to her. No one could get close to Miya back then. I had no cultivation potential from the beginning because even my body couldn’t develop to a level considered promising, so how could I possibly become close to Miya? This university rejected me outright just from looking at my physique. They said that a weak body was bound to mean a weak soul, so there was absolutely no hope."
"That’s unfortunate." Enzo could only say that.
"There was nothing to regret. I eventually joined the CIA and became quite successful there." The man chuckled.
"Right, I haven’t introduced myself yet. Erick. Erick Perez. I’m the Head of the CIA’s City Z branch."
"Head?" Enzo froze when he heard that.
City Z might not rank among the top ten largest cities, but this was where the Stanley Family was located.
The Head of the CIA in City Z practically couldn’t be compared to the head of a branch in a major city without a Main Family.
"You must be quite extraordinary to reach that position at your age," Enzo commented while maintaining his composure.
Hearing such praise, Erick remained calm.
"Are you trying to recruit me into the CIA?" Enzo asked.
He suspected that was the reason.
"Would you agree? Of course not, right? Why bother working when you can eat with a golden spoon at home with your wife?" Erick replied with a laugh.
His words were somewhat amusing, so Enzo also wanted to laugh, but he held it back because he didn’t understand why the man was saying all this.
He nodded.
"That’s right. Why work? I already have a life that can only be a fantasy for most people. So why did you come to meet me?" he asked.
"Just looking around while hoping you might become curious about the CIA and ask to join on your own."
Enzo: "..."
