Chapter 165 | It’s Not What You Think!
Chapter 165: 165 | It’s Not What You Think!
Roughly another hour passed.
Selene’s body was leaning forward again.
Dexter opened his eyes and looked at her. At this moment, her eyes were closed and her expression was incredibly peaceful.
Without a word, he shifted his position again. He didn’t move directly in front of her this time but actually moved directly beside her.
At this position, their shoulders were touching with no space in the middle as the heat from Dexter body directly made contact with Selene’s body.
Then he closed his eyes and resumed cultivating as though he had simply changed positions for comfort and nothing more.
Selene’s eyes opened as the heat penetrated through her skin through physical contact.
At that moment, the heat was so intense Selene almost let out a comfortable moan.
The hear from the heavenly flame pierced through her body and the Eternal Ice Winter retreated like a cowardly wolf
She immediately wanted to recoil and leave but it had been a while she felt this better.
Selene stared at Dexter’s face through her Echolocation. She could see the blurry outline of his expression and could tell he was calm and unbothered.
He was still pretending nothing was happening.
Her thoughts ran wild. She wanted to leave, but at the same time, her body wanted to stay!
It was a conundrum...
She eventually gave up as her body won the battle.
She slipped into cultivation and the atmosphere remained peaceful and warm.
It was the most comfortable Selene had been in three years.
She didn’t even know when she fell asleep.
---
"Ring! Ring! Ring!"
Dexter’s phone alarm shattered the silence like a hammer through glass.
His eyes snapped open.
The room was dim as the morning light filtered through the dusty window. The clock on his phone read 5:00 AM.
Dexter blinked and yawned slightly.
"Ugh."
He was aback by his morning breath.
His body was incredibly stiff. He had been sitting in the same cross-legged position for nearly four or three hours without moving.
He suddenly felt something in his shoulder. He looked to the left and saw Selene was asleep on his shoulder.
At some point during the night, her body had leaned towards him as her head layed on his shoulder with her silver-white hair spilling across his chest like moonlight on water.
As Dexter looked down at her, she looked very peaceful. More peaceful than he had ever seen her.
Dexter stared down at her for a long moment wondering how someone could be blessed with such beauty. It was as though she was molded and crafted specially by a creator.
He could see the hair on her eye was also silver in color and it looked really fascinating. If the creator used a day to craft others, they definitely used a Millennium to craft such beauty.
The dull pain snapped Dexter back to reality.
He had been sitting in this exact position for almost three hours, his legs were numb, his spine ached and his neck so stiff he could barely turn it.
But he hadn’t moved because she had been sleeping, and she looked comfortable, he didnt have the heart to disturb her.
It was at that moment Selene’s eyes opened and her brows furrowed for a moment before everything came to her and her eyes widened.
She felt the warmth beneath her cheek and felt rise and fall of his chest beneath her head.
Her Echolocation activated instantly, painting a picture of her surroundings and she realized she was holding Dexter’s left arm, while sleeping in his shoulder.
Her entire body stiffened instantly as she scrambled upright so fast she nearly flashed step!
"I-I!" she gasped. "S-sorry! D-didn’t—"
She shook her head as she backed off the bed, standing there for a split second, her face burning, her mouth opening and closing without producing any further words.
Then she turned and vanished ran out of the room.
"Bang!"
The door slammed shut behind her.
Dexter sat alone on the bed, staring at the closed door.
He let out a long, slow breath.
Then he smiled.
"Cute."
He stretched his arms above his head. His spine popped and his neck cracked twice. His legs tingled with the return of circulation, pins and needles shooting through his calves and feet.
He stood up, stretched again, and opened his bedroom door.
He stepped into the hallway.
And nearly collided with Lyra.
She was standing in the middle of the corridor, with her arms full.
Her left arm was cradling the Primordial Beast Egg against her chest and her right arm was hugging an open bag of Sminley Chips.
Also, her mouth was full of chips with crumbs the front of her shirt and the top of her massive breasts.
She had been heading toward the living room when Dexter emerged from his room.
She stopped.
Dexter stopped.
They stared at each other.
Then Lyra’s gaze shifted to Selene who had just entered their room and then back to Dexter and then behind Dexter, to his open bedroom door, then to the rumpled bed inside.
Her dark eyes blinked behind her glasses as a something suddenly clicked in her mind.
Dexter’s room. Dexter’s bed. Early morning. Selene coming out of Dexter’s room moments ago.
Lyra’s ears instantly turned bright red!
The chip she had been chewing fell out of her open mouth and landed on the floor.
She immediately turned and bolted into the room, the egg and the chip bag clutched tightly against her chest as the door slammed shut behind her.
Dexter stood in the hallway, as he blinked his eyes in confusion at first, then everything came to him as his eyes widened.
"Lyra, wait, that’s not what happened."
He wasn’t able to finish his words when the door clicked shut.
Dexter face palmed himself right there, his expression caught somewhere between exasperation and amusement.
Then he dropped his hand, rubbed his face, and sighed.
’I am never going to hear the end of this, am I?’
