Chapter 155: 155 | Middle Of The Night & Selene

Transcendent-Class meat...’

He had never even seen a Transcendent Realm beast, let alone held one’s meat in his hands. Transcendent Realm creatures were the kind of monsters that required multiple teams of Ultra-Rank heroes to bring down.

Not to mention that a single Tier-1 Transcendent beast could probably flatten this entire neighborhood if it wanted to.

And now he had twenty kilograms of its meat sitting in his spatial storage.

If I cook with this...’

His Great Grandmaster Foodsmith mind was already racing. A single cut of Transcendent-Class meat, properly prepared, could elevate a meal to Grade Five or higher. The girls’ cultivation bases would skyrocket. Their damaged bodies would receive an unprecedented surge of restorative energy.

Dexter’s mouth watered and his eyes lit up. He couldn’t wait to cook with the meat quickly but then, he forced himself to calm down.

He would save this for the right moment. Cooking with Transcendent-Class meat required careful preparation and the right combination of supporting ingredients to create a very high grade meal. It might even have the chance to enter the 6 tier!

Then his eyes at the three years of cultivation and the Celestial Spirit beans. He was particularly pleased cites about the beans. And as for the three years cultivation, he was already used to getting such things so it was alredy normal to him.

’I hope I get more of the Celestial Beans.’

With it, the impurities in his body would be cleansed and while he knew nothing about the Holy Child Physique, it sounded powerful and attractive.

As for the Adrenaline Surge pill, he didn’t want to think about it.

"System. Apply the three years of compressed cultivation."

The effect was immediate.

A tidal wave of mana erupted from deep within his inner universe as it flooded into the massive Helix shape DNA.

His cultivation began to climb as he broke through all the way to the 9th level of the Superhuman realm.

"Boom!"

Dexter’s body shook as his muscles tightened and his bones crackled. His blood raced through his veins like liquid fire, carrying mana to every part of his body. The air mattress beneath him crinkled and deformed from the sheer pressure radiating from his skin.

9th Stage Superhuman Realm!

Just three more stages and he would stand at the absolute peak of the Superhuman Realm. Then breakthrough to the Ultra Realm, the realm of the powerful.

Where one can truly call themselves a powerhouse.

Dexter opened his eyes and three colored lights flickered in his pupils before fading to natural black as he let loose a soft smile.

However, Dexter didn’t pause to celebrate, he closed his eyes again and continued cultivating.

He cultivated through the night and only turned to sleep when it was 2.am.

He had been renovating the entire house throughout the day so he was quite tired and he slept quite quickly, just as quickly as his mom left.

---

An hour passed, maybe twi.

Then—

"Creak."

The whisper of his bedroom door opening sounded through the room.

Although he was asleep, his enhanced hearing picked it up!

His consciousness snapped back to full alertness and he was about to move.

Who—’

Then the cold hit him like a ghost creeping around his room.

The temperature in the room dropped by several degrees in a split second. Dexter immediately recognized who it was.

There was only one person in this house who carried that kind of cold.

Selene? Is she having another episode?’

He internally shook his head. ’I’d just given her the serum. Even if It doesn’t hold a full week, it should be enough for three days right?’

Although he was thinking this, he didn’t move and wanted to see what she wanted.

"Tap." "Tap." "Tap."

Hesitant footsteps sounded on the wooden floor as it got closer slowly as though trying their best not to make noise.

The footsteps moved from the door to the center of the room, then stopped as silence descended.

Selene was standing somewhere near the foot of his bed. Dexter could feel her presence through the cold mana emanating from her and her intoxicating smell just like when the first rain drop of water hit dry desert.

He could hear her breathing slowly.

20 seconds passed, then 30 seconds, as she remained there without moving.

Selene didn’t move and simply stood there, at the foot of his bed, in the dark.

It was then he came to a conclusion... ’She’s cold.’

Of course she was cold. The chronic illness that infected her body generated an endless supply of freezing energy that her body couldn’t regulate. During the day, the warmth of the sun and the activity of movement helped distract from it. But at night, the cold became unbearable.

Even if Dexter had taken away the pain, the discomfort was still there.

And Dexter’s body radiated heat. And not just ordinary human heat but heat derived from one of the nine heavenly flames.

She had come to his room exactly for the heat, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it.

"Tap."

She moved another step closer as her hand, stretched out toward him. Close enough that Dexter could feel the chill of her fingertips hovering just inches above his shoulder.

Then she pulled back.

A quiet, frustrated exhale escaped her lips, then—

"Tap!" "Tap!" "Tap!"

The footsteps retracted as it reached the door.

Dexter wanted to stand up and call her back but he stopped himself. What would he say? ’Stay? Let’s sleep together while I share my flame heat with you.’

"Click."

The door closed softly and silence returned as Selene returned to her room.

Dexter eyes snapped open as he sat upright slowly.

He stared at his closed bedroom door for a long time.

It seemed she really wanted to stay.’

1

She had reached out to touch him. And then she had stopped herself.

’Why?’

Three weeks ago, she had flinched at the slightest brush of his fingers as though his hands were made of acid.

The fact that she now ’wanted’ to be near him and that she actively sought his warmth, was already a monumental shift in her behavior. But wanting something and allowing yourself to have it were two very different things.

She was caught between her body’s desperate need for warmth and her mind’s stubborn refusal to be vulnerable.

It seems we need to talk.’
