Chapter 25: Chapter 25: The Awakening That Shook The Heavens II

It was roughly one cubic meter and already contained several bottles.

Xavier focused on one of them. A bottle appeared in his palm. He examined it briefly before returning it to the ring.

Evelyn raised an eyebrow.

"You’re not going to check whether it’s genuine?" she asked.

"I trust you," Xavier said, smiling.

He actually had no idea what a genuine Starfire Awakening Elixir should look like. This was his first time seeing one.

Evelyn, unaware of that, seemed pleased by his answer.

"I’m glad," she said.

She then smiled.

"And since we’re friends now, you can stop calling me Miss Hart. Just call me Evelyn," she said.

"All right, Evelyn," he said.

Their transaction was complete, and Evelyn turned as though she intended to leave. Then she stopped.

"Do you want me to come with you?" she asked.

Xavier immediately understood what she meant. After what happened that morning, she was worried that Ethan’s family might try something on the way home. He wasn’t foolish enough to refuse an escort simply to protect his pride.

"Sure," he said.

Evelyn had arrived on a bicycle, so Xavier grabbed one of the shared bikes outside the academy and followed her.

The ride back was uneventful. No one from the Carter family appeared, and before long, they reached the entrance to the East Lake residential complex.

Xavier stopped his bicycle.

"Would you like to come upstairs for a while?" he asked.

Evelyn smiled and shook her head.

"Another time," she said.

"All right. Thanks for coming with me," he said.

They said goodbye, and Xavier watched her ride away before heading upstairs.

The moment he opened the apartment door, a grin spread across his face.

"Mira, sweetheart, come see what I brought home," he said.

By the time Xavier got home, Mira had already prepared dinner.

Normally, the sight of a table full of food would have been enough to put him in a good mood. Tonight, however, he had something else on his mind.

He barely glanced at the meal before taking the small container from his pocket and walking over to her.

"Sweetheart, look what I brought you," he said.

Mira looked up.

"What is it?" she asked.

Xavier opened the container. The moment she saw what was inside, she went completely still. A faint golden shimmer seemed to move across the surface of the pill, almost like tiny sparks trapped beneath its shell.

Mira’s eyes widened.

"The Starfire Awakening Elixir..." she said.

She stared at it for several seconds before slowly looking back at Xavier.

"Darling, where did you get this?" she asked.

She knew exactly how valuable this elixir was. Even the Sinclair family had struggled to acquire one in the past. It was a rare fifth tier elixir capable of awakening a dormant magical constitution, which made it something most people would never have the opportunity to possess.

Yet Xavier had somehow obtained one. And now he was simply handing it to her.

"Don’t worry about where it came from," Xavier said. "Just take it," he added.

Mira didn’t reach for it.

"Xavier..." she said.

"Sweetheart," he said, his voice gentle but firm.

"Take it," he added.

Mira looked down at the elixir in his hand. There was still one problem. The Starfire Awakening Elixir didn’t work on everyone.

It could only awaken a magical constitution that was already present but dormant. If she didn’t possess one, then taking it would accomplish nothing.

And wasting something this rare was something Mira couldn’t bring herself to do.

"What if I don’t have a dormant constitution?" she asked quietly. "Wouldn’t this be wasted?" she added.

Xavier sighed. She was still thinking about the price. After everything Mira had gone through since leaving the Sinclair family, he understood why she had become so careful.

She had learned to treat every resource as something that might never come again. But he wanted to change that. They were married now. There was no reason for her to keep living as though every little thing had to be counted.

"We’re husband and wife," Xavier said. "What’s mine is yours. If it’s useful to you, then use it. Don’t worry about wasting it," he added.

"But—" she started.

"No arguing," he said.

Xavier placed the elixir into her hand.

"Just trust me," he said.

Mira stared at him. After a moment, she finally gave in.

"All right, darling," she said.

A satisfied smile appeared on Xavier’s face.

"That’s better," he said.

He took the elixir back from her.

"Open your mouth," he said.

Mira blinked at him but obediently parted her lips. Xavier placed the elixir inside. She swallowed.

The instant it entered her body, a familiar notification appeared in Xavier’s mind.

[Investment confirmed.]

[Target has successfully absorbed a Tier 5 Starfire Awakening Elixir.]

[Dormant magical constitution detected.]

[Frost Phoenix Bloodline awakening initiated.]

[Target’s Destiny Resonance has increased.]

[Investment has triggered a 1,000x return for Host!]

[Reward acquired by Host for Investment: Primordial Chaos Physique.]

[Warning: Physical transformation will require approximately forty minutes. Please prepare accordingly.]

Xavier’s eyes widened.

A thousandfold return. And the reward was a Primordial Chaos Physique.

For a moment, he simply stood there. He had trusted Evelyn enough to accept the elixir, but he couldn’t be completely certain that something hadn’t gone wrong during the exchange. Now he knew. The elixir was genuine. More importantly, Mira really did possess a dormant magical constitution. The system had confirmed it.

Xavier glanced toward her. Mira was already sitting quietly, her eyes closed as she focused on the strange changes occurring inside her body. She hadn’t noticed anything unusual about him.

Good.

Xavier didn’t disturb her. He quietly returned to their bedroom and closed the door behind him. Then he sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Claim the reward," he said.

The moment he spoke, the system responded. A thunderous sensation suddenly erupted inside his mind.
