Investing In My Crippled Genius Wife: I Get 10,000x Returns
Chapter 150: Mira Is Ready For Revenge
Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Mira Is Ready For Revenge
Since appearing eight years earlier, the Tree Demon had shown little interest in expanding its territory. It had remained relatively quiet, allowing the surrounding regions to develop without constant conflict.
Furthermore, the forbidden zone contained numerous valuable resources that could regenerate over time.
Because of this, the Dragon Kingdom’s authorities often used it as a training ground for younger martial artists seeking experience in dangerous environments.
After hearing Victoria’s explanation, Graham nodded thoughtfully.
"Then, General Quill, you should focus on breaking through to the Divine Power Realm as soon as possible," he said. "Once you’ve advanced, we’ll take Mira there together."
Victoria froze. For a moment, she wondered whether she had misheard him.
Just advance to the Divine Power Realm?
She had remained at the peak of the Star Sea Realm for nearly three years.
Despite her experience, talent, and countless battles, she still had not found a way to break through the barrier preventing her advancement.
If reaching the Divine Power Realm were as simple as deciding to do it, she would have advanced long ago.
Yet before she could voice her objections, Graham casually produced two medicinal pills.
Victoria immediately recognized them.
"Those are... two 6th-Grade Heaven and Earth Pills?" she said, her eyes widening.
The Heaven and Earth Pill was an extremely precious resource, particularly for martial artists at the peak of the Star Sea Realm who were attempting to break through to the Divine Power Realm.
Over the years, Victoria had fought countless dangerous battles and accumulated a wealth of experience.
Yet even with everything she had earned, she had only ever possessed two Heaven and Earth Pills, including the one Xavier had given her previously.
She had already consumed one of them years ago.
Now, he was casually holding two more in front of her.
"Would these be enough to help you break through?" he asked.
Victoria swallowed.
"They should... probably be enough," she said.
Even she was not entirely confident in her answer.
The Heaven and Earth Pills were precious, but breaking through to the Divine Power Realm was never guaranteed.
Graham glanced at her.
"’Probably’?" he said.
He flipped his hand again, producing two additional pills.
"What about four?" he asked.
Victoria stared at the four Heaven and Earth Pills in disbelief.
Xavier currently possessed ten of them, all obtained through the system’s rewards over the past several days.
Giving Victoria four would not put him under any real pressure.
For her, however, the pills represented an opportunity she might otherwise have spent years trying to obtain.
"Four... Yes! Four should definitely be enough!" Victoria said, nodding repeatedly, her earlier doubts disappearing.
She was already at the peak of the Star Sea Realm. With four 6th-Grade Heaven and Earth Pills to assist her, failing to break through would be difficult to justify.
If she still could not advance after consuming them, she might as well bang her head against a block of tofu.
She took a deep breath, then looked at Xavier with barely concealed anticipation.
"Mr. X, are you really giving these to me?" she asked.
"Don’t get carried away," Xavier replied bluntly. "Work out their value and repay me with something equivalent once you’ve gathered the resources."
Victoria burst out laughing.
"Of course!" she said. "Don’t worry. I, Victoria Quill, won’t let you suffer a loss!"
She had only been joking when she asked whether the pills were a gift.
A 6th-Grade Heaven and Earth Pill was worth at least a billion Dragon Kingdom credits on the market, and even that price did not guarantee anyone could actually buy one.
Pills capable of helping peak Star Sea Realm martial artists break through to the Divine Power Realm were simply too rare.
There was no way she would accept four of them without compensation.
Xavier might be willing to offer such valuable treasures, but that did not mean she would take advantage of his generosity.
Besides, she had every reason to maintain a good relationship with an alchemist of his caliber. Being careless about the debt would be the height of foolishness.
There was an old saying: if you want something done, it is better to depend on yourself than to put your fate in someone else’s hands.
With the Shadow Ring actively targeting Mira, Mr X had decided that improving her ability to defend herself was the most reliable solution.
Neither he nor Victoria could remain by Mira’s side around the clock.
No matter how careful they were, there would inevitably be moments when their attention slipped.
If an assassin exploited one of those opportunities, the consequences could be disastrous.
That was why Xavier had begun considering a trip to the Tree Demon’s territory.
Lydia had previously mentioned that her third soul remained trapped there.
Even with only two of her souls available, she possessed enough strength to defeat a martial artist in the Star Sea Realm.
If she recovered the missing soul and reunited all three, just how powerful would she become?
Helping Lydia recover her lost soul could significantly increase her strength. With her assistance, Mira would have another powerful means of protecting herself.
Besides, Xavier would have to visit the Tree Demon’s territory sooner or later.
The place also offered a considerable advantage against the Shadow Ring.
Its assassins were skilled at disguising themselves and infiltrating their targets’ surroundings, but a secluded forbidden zone would make it much harder for them to approach Mira unnoticed.
After weighing the possibilities, Xavier settled on his plan. Victoria would enter seclusion to prepare for her breakthrough, while he remained at the Extraordinary Division under the identity of Mr. X, keeping Mira safe and continuing his work on the cultivation manual for the Heaven Piercing Sixfold Finger.
As for Maya, the situation was somewhat different.
The Shadow Ring had marked her for assassination as well, but two factors made her current circumstances less dangerous than Mira’s.
First, Xavier was the only person who knew where she was staying. Second, Maya spent practically all her time inside her courtyard and rarely ventured outside.
Unlike Mira, whose whereabouts were relatively easy to discover, Maya was not an obvious target for anyone searching for her.
Xavier had briefly considered bringing her to the Extraordinary Division so she could receive protection there, but he eventually dismissed the idea.
For the time being, it was better to keep her existence hidden from as many people as possible.
Whether Maya should accompany him to the Tree Demon’s territory, remain in Valemont, or visit the Shelby family of Groundcrest to settle her family’s affairs and seek their assistance were questions he had yet to resolve.
For now, he would wait until Victoria completed her breakthrough to the Divine Power Realm.
Once that happened, he could reconsider their arrangements with greater confidence.
In the meantime, he needed to finish writing the Heaven Piercing Sixfold Finger manual.
The sooner he completed it, the sooner he could put his investment plans into action.
* * *
Three days passed amid cultivation, preparation, and Xavier’s ainstaking efforts to compile the manual.
Just as he was approaching the final stages of his work, some welcome news arrived.
Mira had successfully advanced to the 1st Star of the Spirit Platform Realm!
"Mr. X, I’ve finally broken through!" she said, hurrying over to share the news, unable to conceal the excitement on her face.
Three days earlier, Xavier had discussed their plans with Victoria and informed Mira that they would eventually be heading to the Tree Demon’s territory.
Since then, Mira had devoted herself to cultivation, making remarkable progress in a relatively short time.
Xavier looked up from his manuscript and gave her an unhurried nod.
"Breaking through to the Spirit Platform Realm is a good start, but don’t let it go to your head," he said.
"You still have plenty of room to improve." He paused before continuing. "Once your master comes out of seclusion, we’ll set off for the Tree Demon’s territory."
His expression remained perfectly composed. Considering the number of pills Mira had consumed over the past few days, her breakthrough was hardly unexpected.
An ordinary person might have struggled to make comparable progress, but Mira was no ordinary martial artist.
She had awakened the Frost Phoenix Bloodline giving her a foundation that most people could only dream of possessing.
With so many resources at her disposal, reaching the 1st Star of the Spirit Platform Realm was only natural.
Mira’s excitement immediately subsided under his matter of fact response.
She had been eager to show off her achievement, but his words reminded her that this was merely another step forward, not the pinnacle of her cultivation.
"All right. I’ll keep working hard!" she agreed obediently.
However, she made no move to return to her cultivation. Instead, her gaze drifted toward the direction of the Sinclair family’s residence.
Her expression gradually changed as old memories surfaced.
I’ve finally reached the 1st Star of the Spirit Platform Realm. I’ve waited long enough. It’s time to make Adrian Sinclair answer for what he did.
