Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Who Is Begging To Die? Step Forward

Garrett listened intently as the person on the other end explained how the lead had been discovered.

"A girl collecting discarded bread? And the bakery owner told you she came from the countryside looking for her mother?" His eyes widened.

"Her mother’s name is Sarah?"

For a moment, he simply stared ahead, as though he needed time to make sense of what he had heard. Then his face broke into a broad grin.

"Great! This is wonderful news!" he said.

"Have you confirmed the girl’s name and where she’s staying?"

The person on the other end continued providing details.

Garrett’s excitement grew with every passing second.

"Find Maya Knox immediately!" he said. "But listen carefully: you must treat her with respect. Don’t frighten her, and don’t allow anyone to lay a finger on her!"

He ended the call, barely able to contain his enthusiasm.

He had never expected their search to produce results so quickly.

Although the information was not enough to establish Maya’s identity with absolute certainty, Garrett had a strong feeling that she was the person they were looking for.

There was a particularly important detail that made him confident. Her mother was named Sarah.

"If my memory serves me correctly, Sarah was the eldest daughter of the Shelby Family In Groundcrest" Garrett said, beginning to pace around the room, piecing together the information.

Years ago, he had heard rumors that Sarah had given birth to a daughter.

At the time, he had not paid much attention to the story and had assumed it was little more than gossip.

Who would have imagined that the child really existed, let alone that she might have awakened the Calamity Poison Body?

Thinking about it now, the connection seemed entirely plausible.

The Shelby family’s direct descendants were renowned for their extraordinary potential.

If Maya truly belonged to that bloodline, her awakening a rare constitution was hardly beyond belief.

And if his suspicions were correct, the implications for the Lindsay family were enormous.

Their family was currently in serious trouble.

The authorities were tightening their grip, and the evidence left behind by Pat Marty had put them in a dangerously vulnerable position.

With the Lindsay family’s members being arrested one after another, they desperately needed a way to turn the situation around.

The Shelby family might be their salvation.

"Hahaha! If we can establish a connection with the Shelby family through Maya, everything could change!" Garrett said, barely able to suppress his laughter.

"Once the Shelby family agrees to help us, we can ask them to speak to the higher ups on our behalf.

With their backing, even Victoria Quill will have to think twice before continuing to pressure us!"

The more he considered the plan, the more convinced he became that they had stumbled upon an opportunity sent from heaven.

If the girl truly was Sarah’s daughter and had awakened the Calamity Poison Body, the Lindsay family might finally have a way out of its predicament.

He was still lost in his calculations when a sudden feeling of unease washed over him. Someone was there.

Garrett’s smile vanished. He spun toward the doorway, his expression turning cold as he barked, "Who’s there?!"

Xavier had been lingering nearby in the void when Garrett Lindsay made his call, so he overheard the entire conversation, including Garrett’s excited mutterings.

The Shelby family of Groundcrest. So my apprentice’s mother actually came from there.

Groundcrest was far from the Valemont region. He had never heard of the Shelby family before, but now it seemed that Maya’s mother’s family was more prominent than the Lindsay family.

He did not doubt the authenticity of Garrett’s words.

After all, Maya’s mother had indeed visited Silver Lake City eighteen years ago.

They were all descendants of prominent families, so it was normal for them to have had dealings with the Lindsay family.

This is making things a bit tricky.

Xavier had originally thought that Maya’s mother’s family was roughly equivalent to the Lindsay family.

With me here, there’s no need to worry about the mother and daughter being unable to recognize each other. But now it seemed he needed to reconsider.

As Xavier was pondering, he heard Garrett shout loudly.

"They actually found out?"

Hidden in the void, Xavier was stunned for a moment.

He was certain that the other man had indeed discovered him.

Because Xavier had taken a few steps in the void, Garrett’s gaze remained fixed on his location, even though there should have been nothing in the air in his line of sight.

Although I don’t know how Garrett did it, it’s not a big problem.

The abilities of Star Sea Realm warriors were unpredictable, and Xavier had already been mentally prepared for his discovery.

Anyway, he had come to the Lindsay family intending to cause a huge uproar, so he simply walked out of the void.

However, just to be on the safe side, he rolled the Destiny Die before coming out and landed on a five.

This thing truly lives up to its reputation as a divine relic.

Even at the second level of the Star Sea Realm, Xavier felt his strength increase by about 50% out of nowhere.

"It’s you, Graham Cole!" Garrett’s pupils contracted.

Having seen Graham Cole’s portrait, he naturally recognized the perpetrator’s identity immediately.

"You audacious scoundrel!" he snarled.

"My Lindsay family hasn’t even settled accounts with you yet, and you dare to come to our doorstep and even sneak into our compound! How arrogant!" He raised his voice further. "Die!"

Garrett roared and pulled a longsword from his spatial ring.

However, although he spoke aggressively, he turned and ran away.

A feint. Garrett was aware of his own abilities.

He was only a Star Sea Realm 1st-Star Martial Artist, while the infamous Bloodshadow Cult Master Damon Veil had died at the hands of this Graham Cole standing before him.

How could he possibly defeat him?

When faced with a powerful enemy, the first thing to do was run away and then call for backup.

"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!" he shouted. "Elders! come quick and save me!"

Garrett’s figure crashed through the wall at lightning speed, shouting loudly as he fled.

But before he had run twenty meters, he suddenly felt a chill in his chest.

Looking down, he discovered a seven foot long sword piercing his heart.

"You, you," he coughed up blood as he looked at Xavier with disbelief.

Although he had been on the run, he had also been on high alert, constantly watching Xavier’s movements.

However, to his utter surprise, in the blink of an eye, his opponent had pierced his heart with a single sword strike.

That’s too fast! It was almost like teleportation, leaving him no chance to defend himself.

If that were all, Garrett would not have been in such despair.

Martial artists at the Star Sea Realm possessed exceptionally strong vitality.

Even if their heart was pierced, or even if all their internal organs were smashed into a pulp, they could still survive.

But now, Garrett sensed a mysterious and violent energy invading his body along the sword, destroying everything in its path.

Although he was not instantly killed, his body was too weak to react.

Fortunately, his suffering ended in the next moment. Because Xavier held a cautious approach and feared that his enemy might not die, he unleashed another Chaos Divine Palm.

The first time this constitution technique was used, it instantly turned Garrett into a pile of minced meat, and destroyed everything in a fan shaped area dozens of meters behind him.

The Lindsay family compound was instantly transformed into rubble stretching over a hundred meters long.

Xavier did not care whether any unlucky souls died as a result of this palm strike.

After doing all this, he looked at the Lindsay family warriors who had been drawn out by the commotion of the battle and were staring in disbelief at the scene, and casually struck out with his palm, killing them all immediately.

Xavier soared into the air and arrived outside the Lindsay family compound. Facing the family’s ancestral home, he shouted in a deep voice.

"I, Graham Cole, have come to exterminate the entire Lindsay family. Anyone who is not afraid of death, come and fight me!"

Xavier had thought it through very clearly. The Bloodthirsty Monk could produce the Soul-Disrupting Bell, and Damon Veil could use the Earthly Fiend Imprisoning God Formation.

These two examples made him dare not underestimate any opponent.

Since the plan to secretly infiltrate had failed, a battle with the Lindsay family was inevitable.

As for the compound itself, who knew if there existed a formation of the same level as, or even stronger than, the Earthly Fiend Imprisoning God Formation?

That was why he decided to leave the compound.

* * *

The fourth branch of the Lindsay family was in chaos.

"Chief, something terrible has happened! Fourth Uncle has been beaten to death!" one clansman cried.

"Graham Cole, it was Graham Cole who killed the Fourth Master! He even said he was waiting for the Lindsay family at the gate!" another shouted.
