Investing In My Crippled Genius Wife: I Get 10,000x Returns
Chapter 12: Nine Failed Investments
Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Nine Failed Investments
If he was going to keep receiving valuable resources from the Investment System, he couldn’t rely entirely on the Treasure Pavilion to sell them.
Having another wealthy buyer he could work with in the future would be extremely useful.
Xavier looked at Evelyn.
"Then I’ll give you my contact information," he said.
Evelyn’s eyebrows lifted slightly.
"Don’t misunderstand. I’m married," Xavier quickly added. That surprised her.
"I only want to discuss business. And there was something else," he said.
He glanced toward the direction Ethan had left.
"That guy who just walked out didn’t exactly look happy with me. I’m just an ordinary citizen, so if he decides to cause trouble later, I’d rather have someone I can contact," he said.
He gave her an innocent look.
"You understand, right?" he asked.
Evelyn hesitated for a moment.
She had initially felt slightly uncomfortable when Xavier suggested exchanging contact information.
But after hearing his explanation, that feeling disappeared.
He was already married, so there was no reason to assume he had ulterior motives.
And Ethan really was the kind of person who might cause trouble simply because his pride had been hurt.
As for the business arrangement, Evelyn didn’t think much of it.
"Alright," she said.
She took out her phone.
"Send me your contact information," she said.
"Thank you," Xavier said, smiling.
He had gotten exactly what he wanted.
The business connection was far more important than she realized.
If he wanted to continue investing in Mira, he would eventually need a reliable way to turn the system’s rewards into usable resources and money.
The Treasure Pavilion couldn’t be his only option.
It was never wise to depend entirely on a single buyer.
And Evelyn Whitmore clearly belonged to the kind of wealthy family that could purchase rare resources without blinking.
She might become a very useful business partner.
Neither of them knew just how valuable that connection could become.
The transaction was completed quickly.
Evelyn transferred 2.2 million crowns directly to Xavier’s account before carefully putting the Frostveil Elixir away.
She left the Treasure Pavilion with Sophie soon afterward, looking completely satisfied with her purchase.
The shopkeeper watched them leave with a complicated expression.
Then he turned back toward Xavier.
Xavier transferred the agreed two million crowns to him and collected the items he had purchased earlier.
The Heavenly Silk Armor, the Second Tier Restoration Elixir, and the ten martial skill manuals were all placed securely in his possession.
With that done, Xavier finally left the Treasure Pavilion.
On his way home, he stopped at a nearby supermarket.
He bought almost twenty thousand crowns’ worth of ingredients.
The largest expense was five pounds of meat from a First Tier Scarlet Flame Rabbit, a magical beast whose meat was known to be both nutritious and flavorful.
Yesterday’s wedding had happened so quickly that neither he nor Mira had properly celebrated.
Today was different.
They were married now.
There was no reason not to enjoy themselves.
By ten-thirty that morning, Xavier finally returned home.
He pushed open the door with several bags in his hands.
"Mira, I’m home!" he said.
Mira immediately came out to meet him.
Her eyes widened when she saw everything he was carrying.
"Why did you buy so much?" she asked.
"We’re married. We should celebrate properly," Xavier said, smiling.
"Oh my. You’re so thoughtful, Xavier. " Mira said, her lips curving into a warm smile.
Xavier stepped forward and pulled her into a brief embrace before carrying the groceries into the kitchen.
He stored the meat and other ingredients in the refrigerator, then returned with the things he had purchased from the Treasure Pavilion.
Mira looked at the items in confusion.
"Hubby, what are these?" she asked.
"For you," he said.
"For me?" she asked.
She stared as Xavier placed the ten martial skill manuals, the Second Tier Restoration Elixir, and the Heavenly Silk Armor in front of her.
Mira’s eyes widened.
She picked up one of the manuals, then looked toward the armor.
The Heavenly Silk Armor was clearly extraordinary.
Even without knowing its exact value, she could tell that it was worth at least a million crowns.
She slowly raised her head and stared at Xavier, wondering how on earth her fate had changed from being discarded to being spoiled silly by this man.
Meanwhile, the system notifications popped up in Xavier’s mind as Mira accepted it.

[Unfortunately, the investment has failed.]
[No reward generated.]
[Unfortunately, the investment has failed.]
[No reward generated.]
He watched as the whole martial art gift failed one by one.
What the hell?
Before he could gather his thoughts on what the reason could be, another notification popped.
Ding!
[Congratulations, Host. Your investment in the Second Tier Endless Life Technique has been successful. This investment has triggered a 40x multiplier.]
[Reward generated: Endless Life Technique — Perfect Mastery.]
Xavier’s eyes widened as he registered the change.
He had expected the investments involving Mira to produce results, but the outcome still caught him off guard.
Everything he had given her had been registered by the system.
The Restoration Elixir and Heavenly Silk Armor had been especially straightforward. Mira had accepted both items, and the system had immediately considered the investments successful.
What confused him was something else.
Out of ten martial skill manuals, only one had produced a return.
Why had the other nine failed?
