As the notifications faded, Xavier’s expression brightened with satisfaction. His plan had worked.
Most importantly, he had finally obtained the Constitution Holy Water he needed, and the system had rewarded him with two precious drops.
That meant Marcus Reed could finally begin his journey as a martial artist.
However, Xavier had no intention of rushing to Marcus’s workplace immediately.
There was no need to hurry. Marcus could wait a little longer, and Xavier still had several valuable rewards to inspect before making his next move.
The first item that caught his attention was the Perception Rune Stone.
Unlike lightning or fire type rune stones, which were primarily useful for combat, this treasure specialized in perception.
According to the system’s description, its effect was simple but extremely useful.
As long as the rune stone remained on his person, Xavier would be able to sense everything within a radius of two hundred meters with remarkable clarity.
If he infused it with chaotic energy, that range would expand dramatically, allowing him to perceive everything within two kilometers.
Xavier examined the rune stone carefully, and a pleased smile appeared on his face.
"Now, this is useful," he said.
He had never been particularly enthusiastic about collecting too many offensive rune stones.
Lightning and fire were powerful attributes, but possessing a large number of similar treasures could become inconvenient.
In a fight, he might have to waste precious time deciding which one was best suited to the situation.
The Perception Rune Stone was different. Its value did not depend on how much damage it could inflict.
Instead, it would help him detect danger before it reached him.
With this treasure, it would be much harder for anyone to approach him unnoticed or launch a surprise attack.
For someone with as many enemies as Xavier, that advantage was worth a great deal.
The only disappointing part was the return multiplier.
"A single return? The system really wasn’t generous this time," he said, shaking his head, though he was still pleased with the reward.
There was another rune stone he had yet to invest: the space type rune stone he had taken from Collins Lindsay’s spatial ring a few days earlier.
He had originally intended to give it to Mira, but he decided to wait until the Lindsay family problem had been settled.
There was no point in giving her another precious treasure while that family remained a threat.
Besides, he had already attempted to invest two martial arts techniques taken from Pat Marty, the 5th-Grade Void Walking technique and the 3rd-Grade Blood Explosion Technique, in Mira.
Unfortunately, neither investment had succeeded because she was unable to use them.
Xavier set the Perception Rune Stone aside and turned his attention to the Dragon Bone Puppet.
The tenfold return had raised its quality from the lower end of the 4th-Tier to the peak of the 4th-Tier.
Although the improvement was not as dramatic as some of his other rewards, the puppet was still a powerful asset. Its strength was comparable to that of a peak Star Sea Realm martial artist.
For Xavier, who already possessed considerable combat power, the puppet would serve as an additional trump card.
If he ever encountered a difficult opponent or needed someone to guard an important location, it could prove invaluable.
Next came the 8th-Grade Dragon Slayer Sword. The weapon was more than one and a half meters long, with a heavy blade designed to deliver devastating strikes.
A top tier wind elemental array had been built into it, allowing the sword to move much faster than its size would suggest.
Xavier’s eyes lit up as he examined it. The weapon’s wind attribute complemented his Wind and Thunder Sword Technique perfectly.
Its weight and reach would also allow him to unleash tremendous force while maintaining the speed necessary to overwhelm his opponents.
Compared with his previous sword, this was a significant upgrade.
He would have to find an opportunity to test its full potential.
Finally, Xavier examined the reward for investing in the Phoenix Cultivation Technique.
The system had returned the Dragon and Phoenix Union Technique, a 5th-Grade dual cultivation martial art that had already reached the Lesser Completion stage.
Unlike ordinary martial arts designed mainly for fighting, this technique relied on the complementary circulation of yin and yang energy.
When practiced correctly, it could accelerate cultivation while allowing both partners to benefit from the process.
The higher the level of mastery, the more effective the technique became.
Xavier was quite satisfied with this reward. Not only had the system upgraded the technique, but it had also returned a version that was already at the Lesser Completion stage, saving him considerable time and effort.
After reviewing his new treasures, he opened his personal status panel.
[Name: Xavier Kane]
[Realm: 8th-Level of the Spirit Platform Realm]
[Talent: Perfect]
[Constitution: Chaos Body, Middle to Late Growth Stage]
[Martial Arts: Everlasting life force(Mastery), Heaven Piercing Sixfold Finger (Proficiency), Phantom Step (Perfect), Wind and Thunder Sword Technique (Mastery), Star Tempering Body Technique Fragment (Triple Mastery), Dragon and Phoenix Union Technique (Lesser Completion)]
His cultivation had advanced to the 8th-Level of the Spirit Platform Realm.
The Star Sea Realm was no longer as distant as it once seemed.
Once he crossed that threshold, his overall strength would rise to another level.
With his Chaos Body, powerful martial arts, and growing collection of treasures, he was confident that his combat ability would become even more formidable.
However, Xavier knew better than to become complacent. There were still enemies to deal with, and the Lindsay family had yet to pay for its actions.
He closed the status panel and began preparing for his next investment.
* * *
While Xavier was examining his rewards, trouble was brewing within the Lindsay family.
Damien and Harold Lindsay had just reported to Reginald Lindsay about the disappearance of the Bloodthirsty Monk and Ruthless Blade.
The two experts had arrived in Valemont the previous night.
Since then, Damien had tried calling them repeatedly, but neither man had answered.
After dozens of failed attempts, his uneasiness had grown into a strong suspicion that something had gone terribly wrong.
Reginald’s expression darkened as he listened to the report.
"Those two useless fools are probably dead," he said.
He had never expected them to fail at such a straightforward task.
Their targets were supposed to be easy to exploit, and the two experts were both at the peak of the Spirit Platform Realm.
They should have been more than capable of handling the situation. Yet neither had returned, and neither could be reached.
Reginald’s thoughts quickly turned to another recent development.
Marcus Reed and his wife had suddenly moved into the villa area at Arcadia Academy. The timing was far too suspicious to ignore.
His suspicions about Graham Cole had been correct all along.
The mysterious powerhouse who had killed his son, Collins Lindsay, was closely connected to Mira and her husband.
If Graham Cole had learned that the Lindsay family was plotting against them, it would explain why the Bloodthirsty Monk and Ruthless Blade had vanished.
Reginald’s eyes filled with murderous intent.
"So it really was him," he said.
He had already lost his son, and now two powerful subordinates had disappeared.
If Graham Cole was responsible, the Lindsay family could no longer afford to treat him as an ordinary enemy.
Still, Reginald understood that the family could not confront every opponent directly.
Arcadia Academy was protected by powerful figures, and Victoria Quill’s presence made any reckless move even more dangerous.
Fortunately, he had another option. He picked up his phone and contacted the leader of the Bloodshadow Cult.
His expression grew increasingly sinister as the call connected.
"There’s no need for you to worry about this matter any longer," Reginald said coldly.
"I’ll inform the Bloodshadow Cult’s leader myself." He paused briefly before continuing.
"The Lindsay family may not be able to touch Arcadia Academy without consequences, but the Bloodshadow Cult has no reason to show them the same consideration."
A cruel smile spread across his face.
If the Lindsay family could not take revenge on Graham Cole directly, then he would make sure the Bloodshadow Cult did it for them.
