Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Territory Management.

The heavy TIG carrier descended through the thick, gray smog of Genesis City, its thrusters humming a low, mechanical baritone. Below them, the sprawling urban grid was illuminated by neon signs and rain-slicked streets.

But as the carrier approached the Investment Guild headquarters, the smog artificially parted.

A massive, translucent dome of interlocking hexagonal blue hard-light—the Guild’s localized Aegis Wards—pulsed to life, recognizing the carrier’s transponder and seamlessly opening a flight path. They touched down on the reinforced rooftop landing pad, the heavy landing gear absorbing the impact with a muted thud.

The cargo ramp lowered. The freezing wind of the Capital was completely gone, replaced by the warm, climate-controlled air maintained by the building’s Celestial Core Reactor.

Sylvia stepped onto the rooftop, her hand tightly holding Leo’s. The ten-year-old boy looked around with wide, exhausted eyes. He had spent his entire life in a damp, freezing subterranean cell under the crushing weight of a magical suppression field. Now, he was standing on top of a skyscraper, bathed in the gentle, ambient mana of an S-Rank facility.

Evelyn walked down the ramp beside them, running a hand through her wind-blown black hair. She offered Leo a warm, reassuring smile.

"I’ll take him down to the residential wing," Evelyn said to Sylvia. "Donald upgraded the fourth floor last month. The beds are memory-foam, the pantries are fully stocked, and the internal wards block out all city noise. Let him get some actual sleep."

Sylvia looked at the Valkyrie, then at Donald, who was walking down the ramp with Nyx perched securely on his shoulder.

"Go," Donald nodded simply. "Take the next twenty-four hours off, Sylvia. Get him settled. When you’re ready, we’ll talk about integrating you into the active dungeon rotation."

"Thank you, Investor," Sylvia said, her voice thick with emotion. She squeezed Leo’s hand and followed Evelyn toward the rooftop elevator.

Donald watched them go, pulling up the collar of his jacket. The rescue was over. The corporate war was won. But the LitRPG reality of the System meant there was no real downtime—only the preparation phase for the next raid.

He took a separate elevator down to the second-floor War Room.

Aris Thorne and Garrick were already there. The room had been entirely overhauled since their days as the Iron Guild. A massive, ten-by-ten holographic tactical table dominated the center of the room, projecting a real-time, 3D map of Genesis City and the Abyssal Gate.

Donald walked up to the table and tapped his master access ring against the console.

"Pull up the Guild Territory Management interface," Donald ordered. "Let’s see the board."

The city map dissolved, replaced by a crisp, golden System interface floating in the center of the room. This was the refined, underlying architecture of the Awakened world—a literal base-building menu unlocked by his SSS+ Class.

[GUILD TERRITORY: THE INVESTMENT GUILD (TIG)]

[Current Balance: 15,000,000 System Credits]

[Territory Level: Tier 3 (Regional Power)]

[Available Upgrade Paths:]

1. Logistics & Harvesting

2. Defensive Grid

3. Dungeon Management

"We own a Level 85 Dimensional Bridgehead now," Donald said, leaning over the console. "We cleared the Vanguard, but that gate is still tethered to the Demon King’s realm. If we just leave it open, they will eventually send another army through. We need to turn that portal from a threat into a farm."

Garrick tapped a few keys on his datapad, bringing up a schematic of the Abyssal Gate.

"I analyzed the dungeon architecture while you were flying back," the old Artificer grunted. "The Outer Spiral is safe. It spawns Level 30 to 40 feral monsters—Orcs, Gargoyles, Hellhounds. It’s a perfect grinding zone. But the Hollow Drop—that vertical shaft—leads directly to the Abyssal Encampment. We need to lock that shaft down, or we’ll get flanked."

Donald tapped the [Dungeon Management] tab.

[Purchase: Abyssal Chokepoint Grid (A-Rank) - 4,000,000 Credits]

[Effect: Installs a heavily fortified, automated kill-zone at the base of the Hollow Drop. Features auto-targeting mana-turrets and repulsor fields. Prevents deep-dungeon entities from ascending to the upper floors.]

"Buy it," Donald commanded.

[4,000,000 Credits Deducted. Initiating physical construction at Abyssal Gate...]

A shockwave of golden magic rippled outward from the War Room, shooting toward the edge of the city where the dungeon sat. Through the holographic feed, they watched as massive steel barricades and glowing, automated mana-turrets literally materialized out of thin air at the bottom of the two-mile shaft, completely sealing off the boss room from the rest of the labyrinth.

"The deep floor is quarantined," Aris noted, her eyes wide as she watched the System seamlessly construct heavy infrastructure in seconds. "The upper floors are now entirely safe for standard harvesting."

"Which brings us to passive income," Donald said, tapping the [Logistics & Harvesting] tab.

The Investment Guild was expanding. He couldn’t have Evelyn and Sylvia manually mining low-level iron ore and hauling goblin carcasses out of the Outer Spiral. They were elite combatants, not pack mules.

[Purchase: Automated Golem Miners & Core Extractors (B-Rank) - 2,500,000 Credits]

[Effect: Deploys 50 automated golem units to the conquered dungeon. Golems will passively mine designated safe zones, harvest low-level monster cores, and deposit them directly into the Guild’s vault. Yield: +150,000 Credits daily.]

"Purchased," Donald said.

[2,500,000 Credits Deducted. Golem deployment authorized.]

"That handles our baseline economy and secures the dungeon," Donald muttered, rubbing his chin beneath his mask. He looked at his remaining balance.

[Current Balance: 8,500,000 System Credits]

Donald reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out the heavy, grapefruit-sized Dimensional Tear Anchor he had ripped from the Level 85 Warlord. He set the pulsing, purple-and-gold core on the War Room table.

Garrick took a step back, shielding his eyes from the sheer magical density radiating from the crystal.

"This is the engine," Donald said, looking at the Artificer. "I don’t want to sell this. I want you to integrate it into our Celestial Core Reactor downstairs. If the Capital tries to orbital-strike us, or if a Demon King manages to open a portal directly above the city, I want this building to be completely untouchable."

Donald swiped to the [Defensive Grid] tab.

[Purchase: Absolute Aegis Wards (S-Rank Upgrade) - 8,000,000 Credits]

[Requirement: S-Rank or Dimensional Core (Provided).]

[Effect: Upgrades the Guild Headquarters’ localized shields to a city-wide S-Rank defensive dome. Grants absolute immunity to teleportation, spatial breaches, and hostile reconnaissance within Genesis City limits.]

Donald pressed his thumb against the holographic confirmation rune.

[8,000,000 Credits Deducted. Core integration complete.]

[Genesis City is now a closed ecosystem.]

Deep within the basement of the Guild headquarters, the Celestial Core Reactor roared to life, absorbing the Warlord’s massive anchor. The building hummed with terrifying, limitless power. The blue hexagonal hard-light dome above the building suddenly expanded, shooting outward like a tidal wave across the sky, completely blanketing the entirety of Genesis City in a faint, shimmering, impenetrable shield before fading from visible sight.

Julian Vane could no longer teleport Sentinels into the city. A Demon King could no longer open a portal in their streets. The board was locked.

Donald leaned back from the table, exhaling slowly.

[Current Balance: 500,000 System Credits]

He had spent fourteen and a half million credits in under three minutes. But looking at the holographic readout, the return on investment was staggering. The Investment Guild was no longer just a corporate entity. It was a heavily fortified, automated, self-sustaining militarized state.

"The base is secure," Donald said, turning to Aris and Garrick. Nyx let out a sleepy trill from his shoulder, clearly exhausted from the rapid stat-siphoning of the day.

"Tomorrow, we establish a new operational routine," Donald outlined, his tone shifting from architect to commander. "The automated golems will handle the passive grinding in the dungeon. But I want Evelyn and Sylvia running targeted, deep-floor strikes behind the Chokepoint Grid. They need to power-level. If the Demon Kings retaliate, a Level 22 Investor and a Level 60 Valkyrie aren’t going to cut it. We need to farm the abyssal forces for raw experience."

Aris nodded, furiously typing the new operational directives into her tablet. "I’ll draft the dungeon rotation schedules."

"Good," Donald said, turning toward the door. The adrenaline of the Capital raid was finally fading, replaced by a deep, hollow exhaustion in his bones.

"Rest up," Donald told his team over his shoulder as he walked out into the corridor. "We own the board now. Starting tomorrow, we see how far down the rabbit hole actually goes."
