Chapter 455 - 455: Defending The Frontier
After being seen through by Sinaria, Daelia, or should I say the spectral entity which was possessing her, suddenly became reclusive. She would not meet with Erich until she could confirm that he was unaware of what Sinaria knew.
This was counter-intuitive to the alliance, which was in place to stop the Naraku invasion. But no matter how much her allies seemed to complain and demand a response, Daelia simply ignored them. After all, it’s not like the bugs would come to Svartalfheim.
Svartalfheim was the last remaining essence of the maw within the Galaxy. It was infested down to the core with the darkness there persisted formerly within its own subspace. Any being which came into contact with this darkness would slowly be corrupted by it, and eventually bent to its will.
But…. Erich had remained unmolested. Despite decades of monthly contact with it. In the years leading up to the Naraku invasion, Daelia had personally invited the man to Svartlaflheim for this purpose. So that he could become her pawn.
A very valuable pawn, one with the power of weakening the Light Elves, and their leader, who had previously banished the Maw from the galaxy, all except for Svartalfheim and its corrupted inhabitants.
This was the reason why Lunaria had so despised her sister, and their people, with enough racial hatred to justify hundreds of thousands of years’ worth of galactic war, and even more in proxy wars. A hatred Erich had only forced her to quell for the sake of defeating the Naraku together.
But Daelia knew it was only a matter of time before the Light Elves turned their blades back to their corrupted cousins. And because of this, she wanted Erich to be her sword, to use his immense military power to weaken the Light Elves long enough for Daelia’s plans, or should I say, the darkness’s plans, to come to fruition.
There was just one problem with this. Erich was still uncorrupted despite his decades of contact with maw’s energy. And Daelia did not know how this was possible. As of this moment, all she could do was manipulate his emotions and ignorance into becoming her weapon. But… This was not a guaranteed solution.
The reality of the situation was that Tia had long sensed investigated the maw, and its relation to Svartalfheim and the Dark Elves. Hell, the moment she learned about the Maw’s existence and disappearance, she became concerned about this.
But it was the moment Erich stepped foot on the world, and his body began to be flooded with an unknown energy, that Tia instinctively activated the nano robots in his bloodstream to repel it. This required some minor modifications to the robots, but that was easy enough for Tia to accomplish.
Once she had done this, Tia made sure Erich’s body naturally repelled the darkness which tried to seep into it, and change his biomolecular structure. Tia had once more saved Erich without him even realizing it.
And it was when she understood this. She began to suspect Daelia was not entirely honest with Erich, and was perhaps even manipulating the man towards her own ends. This was when she had secretly approached Sinaria and alerted the woman of her suspicions.
With enough evidence to support her thesis, Sinaria was convinced to aid the artificial intelligence in her plight to understand what Daelia really was, and what she was scheming. This was how Tia was able to so perfectly resurrect Sinaria. She had given the woman her own NeuroLink, and had made the necessary preparations.
Unfortunately for Daelia, this NeuroLink’s self-detonation was what caused Sinaria to die in her grasp. Leaving no trace that it had ever existed in the Dark Elf Princess’s blood stream. Thus, even after performing an autopsy on her own daughter’s corpse. Daelia did not find any evidence that Tia had seen through her schemes and secretly acted against her.
As for Sinaria, she was relocated under a sort of witness protection program on Earth. Her body was no longer corrupted by the darkness which she was born with, and now resembled that of an average Light Elf. No doubt thanks to Tia’s influence.
She lived on Earth, awaiting the day where Tia would call upon her to combat Daelia’s schemes. Even as the galaxy burned in the background. Earth remained the pinnacle of security. Because Tia had made it virtually unconquerable.
As for Erich, he continued to stay onboard his Dreadnought at the front lines. Which was currently where he was, standing on the bridge of the massive warship. One officer quickly approached him and activated a holographic sequence from the terminal that Erich was standing at.
The entire battlefield was displayed in real time, but what was curious was, a yellow marker targeted a specific Naraku Hiveship, which his officer was quick to convey to him what it was suspected of being.
“Your majesty… We have identified this particular ship as a potential Naraku Queenship. It does appear that it has an inexhaustible supply of drones flying out of it. Shall we take it out with the Dreadnought’s main cannon?”
Erich gave the officer a slight nod of his head, silently conveying his approval. Where the man quickly got on his comms and relayed the order.
“Activate the primary cannon, target ship identified under the designation X-1274 in three…. Two… one…”
From an outside perspective, it would appear as if the dreadnought ship itself was undergoing a power surge of some kind. After all, a series of bright red beams appeared within the black undertones of the grey hulled warship. The beam circulated throughout the center layer of the ship until finally coalescing into a massive singular crimson beam which jutted out the mouth of the warship.
And in the next moment, this beam fired a singular energy beam directly at the ship which had been targeted by the deck officer. The crimson beam immediately pierced through any of the ship’s defenses and hit its core. Rapidly spreading throughout the vessel as if had suddenly become full of glowing red spider webs. Until finally the entire ship was vaporized into ash and everything in it.
The attack confirmed this vessel had been a Naraku Queenship, because the drones produced by it, and every single other ship within its fleet immediately went haywire, attacking everything in its vicinity.
Whether that be the warships of other Naraku Fleets, and their drones. Or the Germanic fighters and bombers piloted by artificial intelligence. Either way, the destruction of this single Queen ship had an immediate negative effect on everything within its immediate vicinity which was mostly allied forces.
