It has been several months since Altair left the palace of Eieneos on a mission to find the beings with the golden auras. They were souls of the people that were originally from Eieneos that got stuck in the mortal world’s reincarnation cycle after their original bodies died during the great war a few centuries ago.

After accepting the mission from his future wife, he immediately made his leave not only because it was a task given by his future wife but he also wants a first pick at getting powerful individuals to add to the retinue that will be working under his house in the future. He even made sure to pretend that he was as cool as a cucumber upon receiving the mission but his cunning brain is already spinning fast on how to take every possible advantage for himself over the other three fiancés.

On the other hand, Samir, Touya and Luxiel truly thought that he was just returning to his territory to continue being the loner that he is and perhaps plan here and there about the mission just like how they plan to do so. As long as they do not meddle in that evil man’s affairs, he usually just stays in his part of the territory, fixing things quietly. Most of the time, they do not see each other for weeks (they only meet once a month for progress reports with their future in-laws) but they enjoyed the peace of not having to deal with him on a daily basis so they weren’t that bothered about it.

It was about three weeks later during the usual meeting time where they see each other that they noticed the peculiar silence in Altair’s territory. He wasn’t in the meeting too for some reason and that is the only time they asked their future parents-in-law about what the guy is being busy about. From the couple, they found out that Altair has already gone to the human realm, early the next morning after Luna has provided the mission details, that is, without telling none of them that he will be starting to work on their future wife’s task.

What the other three guys didn’t know was that besides him having a time advantage of almost a month, Altair also had a way to find out if an individual with a golden aura is worth scouting and marking. His abilities that included the control of space can let him teleport with pinpoint accuracy near the people with golden auras. As for his ability that has something to do with time, he can see the person’s past and future so he can immediately know that person’s profession back when he/she was in Eieneos (including their proficiency in it) and their character (if working with them will not test his patience and sanity).

With these two abilities alone, he is already unstoppable on taking over the mission. His speed has let him go around the human realm unhindered, unnoticed and very efficiently too.

In the first week alone, he has already found at least 30 people in the wide expanse of the human realm. After a few months of going around, he has already marked more than a hundred individuals while purposely leaving ones that he has decided that he did not need or do not want to work with in his territory. As for the leftover people. he left them to the others that will come after him.

He went out of the world tree realm in secret several weeks before the others and he knows that the others must be gritting their teeth in anger about him leaving them behind and using time to his advantage. To not be blamed for cheating, he even purposely amplified the golden auras on the bodies of the people that he did not mark after taking his picks of the ones that he will add to his territory.

In his mind, that is already the full extent of his generosity and little conscience he had left. Being decisive is also a skill for him and it is not his fault that the other three waited for something to happen or somebody to make a move before starting on the mission that was clearly assigned to all four of them individually and not as a team.

On one fine day, while I was staying inside the Palace of Eieneos, I felt a whiff of strong mana inside the storage I am sharing with Altair. As I closed my eyes and checked, it was a letter marked as urgent. For someone as strong as Altair to mark it as urgent and see the need to let me know about it immediately makes this thing extremely important.

I called for the letter and it appeared on my hand. I teleported in a hurry to my private office so I can read the letter without interruptions. The letter stated a piece of information that I never thought I would find this quickly.

In Altair’s letter, it says that he has encountered a huge lump of earth that resembles a mountain but there was a weak breath of life from the core of it. He said that there was also traces of mana flow being absorbed by the said mountain which means it was definitely alive or at least something barely alive is hiding inside it and was simply disguising itself. He sent me the coordinates which turned out to be quite near the area where the fairies used to live.

I strongly believe that Altair has already identified what it was but he just wants me to take an interest in it, enough for me to leave whatever I was doing and whoever I was with to go to where he was. He was sly like that and he did not care which husband he is stealing my attention and time from.

To ensure that it will not cause any issues, I sent a reply that I can’t leave just yet as there are promises that I needed to keep first. I told him that I am in Eieneos as of the moment and can only leave the place after three days when I have completed everything that I needed to do.

He immediately replied "okay" which isn’t really a proper or clear enough answer if you think about it. Within an hour after his response, Altair returned to the palace. He greeted me in passing then went up to his room to wash up, change his clothes and then he went to sleep afterwards.
