Chapter 2943: Chapter 2043: The Outcome Is Decided?
Bai Xiaosheng and Wen Yan did not expect that Situ Yin would call someone to relay a message to them after entering the ward for only two or three minutes.
The two received different treatments; Situ Yin let Wen Yan leave and asked Bai Xiaosheng to enter the ward.
Bai Xiaosheng and Wen Yan exchanged a bewildered look, puzzled by Situ Yin’s arrangement.
"Go ahead, I’ll wait for you in the car," Wen Yan promptly patted Bai Xiaosheng’s arm and said softly.
"Okay." Bai Xiaosheng nodded to Wen Yan and followed the messenger into the ward.
Wen Yan watched him go in, stared for a moment, then turned and left to await news.
Inside the ward, Bai Xiaosheng saw Lu Cheng’an’s family keeping vigil outside. Upon seeing him, they nodded politely in greeting. Not wishing to disturb the silence, Bai Xiaosheng nodded back graciously, treating it as a greeting.
At this moment, two attendants came forward to give him gloves, shoe covers, and a sterile cap, helping him dress.
Although Lu Cheng’an only had a cerebral embolism and such precautions seemed unnecessary, as the family valued this, Bai Xiaosheng complied and put them on.
After all, it took less than half a minute.
The messenger gently opened the soundproof door to the inner ward, inviting Bai Xiaosheng inside.
Bai Xiaosheng said no more, stepping inside.
The inside of the ward was spacious, bright, clean, and tidy, with a bed at the center and various medical machines in the corner.
Bai Xiaosheng also noticed an additional inner room, which was an equipment room.
In this kind of ward, more than ninety percent of examinations could be conducted here without needing to leave or even get out of bed.
On the bed lay naturally Lu Cheng’an, lying flat, not clearly visible from afar, with Situ Yin bending over talking to him.
Bai Xiaosheng walked over quietly.
Situ Yin heard the noise, glanced back at Bai Xiaosheng with a touch of serenity in his gaze, then turned again to Lu Cheng’an, saying softly, "The kid is here."
"Let him come over,"
A weak voice sounded, it was Lu Cheng’an’s, but noticeably older and frail.
Listening to the voice, Bai Xiaosheng inevitably thought of his grandmother Li Fengguan, and elders like Xiahou Qi and Song Kai who treated him like kin, and felt a pang of sadness thinking of the relatives and dear friends he hadn’t seen in a long time. He hurried over to stand beside Situ Yin, half a step back.
"Elder Lu, I’m here to see you," Bai Xiaosheng said softly.
The old man on the bed was visibly much thinner, but still had some spirit and his eyes were bright.
Seeing Bai Xiaosheng, Lu Cheng’an showed a slight smile, "You’ve come back, I’ve heard about your accomplishments, very good."
Lu Cheng’an was referring to what Bai Xiaosheng had done in the Sixth Business Division.
"The Sixth Business Division has no more problems, rest assured," Bai Xiaosheng said softly.
Lu Cheng’an slowly blinked as a response.
"Just now, Mr. Situ Yin told me that something happened at home, Morgan will face a vote with the seven vice-chairmen this afternoon," Lu Cheng’an said hoarsely.
"I didn’t mention event details for lack of time. I only said this meeting was initiated by you and Wen Yan, you against Morgan seems like a fight to the death," Situ Yin said calmly from beside.
The simple, bland words "fight to the death" were enough to indicate the extraordinary gravity of the situation.
Bai Xiaosheng pondered briefly, then smiled at Lu Cheng’an, "Elder Lu, you don’t need to worry about this matter now. When you’re discharged, I’ll explain it slowly."
Although Situ Yin first mentioned it, Bai Xiaosheng could speak about the difficulties openly, yet he decided to keep silent.
Situ Yin chuckled softly, looking at Lu Cheng’an, "Elder Lu, see, another who can shoulder responsibility, like the old chairman."
Lu Cheng’an gazed at Bai Xiaosheng, showing an immensely kind smile.
At that moment, someone gently knocked on the door outside as a reminder.
Situ Yin smiled, "Already six or seven minutes have passed so quickly, it seems our conversation needs to be hurried."
Lu Cheng’an blinked slowly, agreeing.
Though Lu Cheng’an had a cerebral embolism, his reactions shouldn’t be so fatigued within such a short time. Bai Xiaosheng had learned that the medical team used a new drug with good effects but with a side effect of rapid fatigue, limiting visits to under ten minutes.
Of course, eventually, it would improve.
Bai Xiaosheng saw Lu Cheng’an and Situ Yin looking at him, both elders having a meaningful gaze.
Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but be curious, looking at Situ Yin to inquire, "Mr. Situ, is there something?"
...
Meanwhile, Wen Yan sat in his car, holding a glass of red wine, sipping absentmindedly while staring out the window.
He had been waiting for Bai Xiaosheng for about twenty minutes already, counting that Bai Xiaosheng had been in the ward for nearly ten minutes.
"He should be back by now," Wen Yan couldn’t help but murmur.
After all, Mr. Lu Cheng’an’s visit time should not exceed ten minutes.
Just then, Wen Yan suddenly spotted a familiar figure outside the window, instantly sitting upright, squinting to confirm.
It was indeed Bai Xiaosheng.
Wen Yan was immediately delighted, putting down the glass and waiting for Bai Xiaosheng to come over, personally opening the car door for him.
Bai Xiaosheng got into the car, sat beside Wen Yan, saying nothing, but his expression was somewhat peculiar.
"Drive to the company," Wen Yan immediately instructed his driver, then looked at Bai Xiaosheng and asked, "What’s up, you seem a bit out of it."
