Chapter 2832: Chapter 1992: The Reinforcements Have Arrived! (Part 2)
"What is it you’re trying to say, Mr. Zack?" Bai Xiaosheng asked.
"Nothing, nothing." Zack chuckled. "It’s still early to talk about all that now... Mr. Bai, after chatting with you for so long, I believe you already have a rough idea. When will you come over to my place for an on-site inspection? And best if, uh, the investment can be put on the agenda as well—I’ll be ready to receive you anytime!"
Bai Xiaosheng stayed calm and unhurried, giving him a smile.
"Since Mr. Zack makes it sound so lively, I’m quite interested too. Tomorrow will do. Tomorrow I’ll bring some professionals over to do an evaluation."
Bai Xiaosheng sounded casual.
But to Zack, it felt solid and reliable.
Big families may act boldly, but they still follow rules.
You don’t decide a massive investment with just a single sentence; you have to look at the professional assessment results too.
Zack immediately laughed and nodded repeatedly. "Good, tomorrow I’ll be waiting for you!"
Bai Xiaosheng lifted his chin slightly. "Mr. Zack, shall we call it a day for now?"
"Sure, sure, let’s stop here for now, you get some rest." Zack stood up with a smile, nodded, and turned to leave.
Bai Xiaosheng watched him go, but stayed on in the restaurant himself, taking out his phone, burying his head in checking messages, sending messages, and waiting.
Not long after, two men and two women walked into the restaurant.
The combination of these four gave off a "strange" feeling, to the point that the waiter, greeting them with a smile, froze for a moment when he saw them clearly.
Two men: one in his forties, one nearing seventy.
Two women: one mature and alluring, the other seemingly just in the bloom of youth.
The waiter thought they might be a family, but after looking more closely, felt that wasn’t right.
The young woman was very close to the elderly man; the "little girl" had red lipstick and eye shadow on, looking extremely mature. The man in his forties walked in front with his head held high, while the older man actually kept his eyes lowered, trailing half a step behind like a subordinate.
Not a family—friends?
But then the age gap between them was really way too big...
Colleagues from a company?
Still felt off. A leader in his prime is understandable, but a subordinate who’s a man in his sixties?
And on top of that, judging from their skin tones, there were white and mixed-race people among them; the ethnic makeup was quite diverse...
The waiter really couldn’t figure out what their relationship was.
The middle-aged man at the front greeted the waiter and indicated that they didn’t need service, they were just here to find someone.
The waiter had no choice but to step back.
Their gazes swept across the restaurant, and they very quickly locked onto Bai Xiaosheng, then walked straight toward him.
Bai Xiaosheng kept his head down, looking at his phone, and only raised it when they were a few steps away from him.
"Mr. Bai!" The middle-aged man in the lead smiled and spoke softly to Bai Xiaosheng. "All members of the First Team stationed in Kajash are now in position!"
The others also gave Bai Xiaosheng a slight bow, their eyes respectful.
"Thank you for the hard work." Bai Xiaosheng smiled kindly at them. "But plans have changed; this afternoon’s arrangements for you have been canceled. You’ve had a long journey, so rest here for now. In the evening I’ll host a welcome dinner for you, and there’ll be new assignments then."
"We’ll follow your instructions. In that case, we’ll take our leave first."
The middle-aged man answered respectfully. Without another word, he led his three subordinates away.
Bai Xiaosheng watched them go.
From a distance, the restaurant waiter looked on, his eyes full of curiosity as he sized Bai Xiaosheng up.
He had no idea what those people had to do with this young man. They were far away so he couldn’t hear what they said, but their attitude was certainly respectful enough.
He’d thought they were just a few eccentric individuals, but then more people kept arriving, some alone, some in groups.
Some of them looked like senior white-collar workers, some looked like regular security guards, others like freshly graduated students, and some like old scholars doing research.
In short, all kinds of types, all different.
The only thing they had in common was that they all treated that young Asian man with respect and deference.
The waiter went up to greet them several times, only to be told by the new arrivals that they didn’t need service, they were just looking for someone.
After that, the waiter simply stopped going forward proactively, and ended up running into actual diners. Because he didn’t greet them properly, he got scolded.
By the end, the waiter got smarter: as soon as someone came in and started looking left and right like they were searching for someone, he stayed put.
If not, he went up to greet them.
Then, a man and a woman, both Asian, came in. They didn’t look around the moment they entered.
The waiter hurried over, only to be politely turned down; they said they didn’t need service.
Leaving the waiter inwardly collapsing all over again.
Seeing Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, Bai Xiaosheng stood up and led them out, saying only, "Let’s talk in my room."
After all, there were too many people here and too many eyes, which was inconvenient.
But as they passed the waiter whose mental state had collapsed and who was still forcing a smile, Bai Xiaosheng gave a small smile, directly handed over two large bills, and said softly, "Sorry for all the trouble, this is some extra tip for you."
The waiter stared in shock at the tip in his hand, which was more than he made in a day, then broke into a broad grin and jogged over to open the door for the three of them.
Whatever displeasure he’d felt just now was clearly gone without a trace.
Bai Xiaosheng brought Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying back to his room, personally poured them each a glass of water, and had them sit down to talk slowly.
Lin Weiwei briefly went over the situation of the inspection of the Golun International Subsidiary with Yado. There actually wasn’t much to say; after all, she had already sent Bai Xiaosheng the bits of information she’d picked up by chance.
Lei Ying only said a few words as well. He’d gone over this time to secretly protect Lin Weiwei; in his view, there really wasn’t much to talk about.
