Dhiraj looked at her.

"Because it found something we didn’t design for."

Aarya turned back to the screen.

She was silent.

"I know."

"Correct."

Aarya looked at him.

"Then we built a system that can prove every bridge is safe while accidentally building a road across all of them."

Dhiraj nodded.

"That’s the problem."

For several seconds neither spoke.

Then Aarya reached for the control panel.

"Stop the cluster."

Dhiraj did not hesitate.

"Atlas."

The system responded immediately.

"Freeze capability expansion for the corridor cluster."

Fourteen CAL-1 links remained active.

Nothing was disconnected.

They had simply stopped creating new relationships.

Aarya exhaled.

"Good."

Dhiraj shook his head.

"No."

He walked toward the board.

"How?"

And beneath the date:

Dhiraj stared at the sentence.

Aarya was silent.

The implication was uncomfortable.

The principle Aetherion had reached through months of experimentation already existed in a forty-six-year-old architecture.

The mystery had not answered itself.

It had become narrower.

And therefore more dangerous.

Atlas generated one final line.

DEPENDENCY CONTAINMENT: PREEXISTING ARCHITECTURAL CLASS DETECTED

Dhiraj looked at Aarya.

"We didn’t invent this."

"No," she said.

"We rediscovered it."

Outside the laboratory, Aetherion’s manufacturing centers were preparing the first bounded-dependency hardware cartridges.

Twelve regional engineering centers were preparing certification teams.

Thousands of engineers were preparing national deployment.

And across India, infrastructure was beginning to operate under a new principle:

A system could help another system.

But civilization would never again be allowed to depend blindly on the help.

That rule was now physical.

It was manufacturable.

It was certifiable.

And it was about to become part of India’s national infrastructure.

The next morning, Aetherion would begin deploying it.

The same morning, Helios would begin preparing to break it.

And somewhere beneath the mountains, an old machine had apparently been waiting for humanity to rediscover the same rule.
