Infinite Snake Evolution: But My System is a Total Menace
Chapter 79: unexpected event
"The first spatial fissure has already manifested near the western mountain boundaries,"
High King Huang Shin’s voice went across the room. His palm rested on the armrest of his high throne, his eyes sweeping over the rows of sheets below. "Before the dimensional gateways unlock completely and the demon armies pour into our provinces, we must do the preparation . Everyone inside this room knows the absolute chaos that follows every time the gate open and the demons and others races start Chaos everywhere. We have exactly ninety days to do all the preparation, forget our private wars, and establish a combined army and work together against the foreign races."
The rulers and family elders sat in perfect in silence, their expressions turning incredibly serious as they listened to the speech. Barry sat cross-legged near the middle rows, his hand resting casually over his knee. Suzy was right next to his shoulder, her posture strict completly focus on the speech because she had seen the war.
Suddenly, a strange vibration zipped straight up Barry’s spinal column. It wasn’t a spiritual pressure wave, but a distinct, unsettling shift in the tracking line. He turned his head around quickly, his eyes scanning the crowded tables behind them, but the path was empty everything was normal and people were hearing calmly.
Suzy noticed his movement and instantly nudged his Waist softly with her elbow. "Listen to the briefing carefully, Barry," she murmured under her breath, her voice serious as she kept her gaze fixed on the high platform. "This is very important thing, stay focused."
"Do we have an accurate calculation of how many separate gateways will manifest across the sectors this time?" a clan elder from the southern rows stood up to ask, his voice carrying an anxious tone.
"The exact number cannot be calculated by the central alliance," Huang Shin replied, his gaze remaining completely calm "But based on our current scouts’ information, we believe there will be at least four or five rifts opening simultaneously. Every sector will have to manage its own defensive ledger."
For the next hour, the three supreme kings and the alliance elders laid out the logistics for the continental defense, explaining the strategy lines for the upcoming trials. Once the directives were fully finalized, the atmosphere inside the room turned different.High King Huang Shin, King Vordan Sylas, and Queen Veronica stood up from their high luxury thrones. Without a single chant or movement warning, their figures simply faded away into thin air, disappearing from the platform instantly as they returned to their place to prepare for war.
The major meeting was officially over, and the other kings began to murmur loudly, the silence of the hall breaking apart into a chatter about monster keys and realm traits.
Barry turned to look at Suzy, trying to reach down to hold her hand. "They says the West and north will be the place where the rift can calculate properly, Suzy. So i think We need to align our caravan plans."
Suzy didn’t look at his face, pulling her fingers away from his grip as she crossed her arms tightly under her chest. Even though the edge of her previous anger had faded, she still refused to talk to him normally, choosing to tease his patience further by looking straight at the front stage. "We will balance that inventory later, we will talk about that after reaching capital"
Before Barry could reply, an elderly Grand Elder from the Manesi Capital Alliance stepped onto the front stage, waving his hands to gather the room’s attention. His voice was calm and full of motivational words.
"Rulers of the outer territories! The capital alliance has prepared the private guest room for your stay tonight. Before you rest, you must register your names at the main ledger desk to enter the preliminary rift that King Huang Shin mentioned. We must unify our power lines before the main breach."
The crowd nodded in agreement, they keep listening to elder and asking questions for some time but then suddenly —
’BOOM!’
A sudden explosion erupted from the outer place, the massive force of the blast shattering the stained-glass windows of the grand hall into millions of fragments. The floor buckled violently, and the gates at the back of the room were completely blown off their hinges, throwing a cloud of black dust across the tables.
"What is happening?!" a border king screamed, his jaw dropping in absolute shock.
Before the Grand Elder could even issue a order, a dozen figures from the middle rows suddenly stood up from their sheets. One of the men, wearing the robes of a regular northern elder, drew a long weapon and drove it straight through the throat of the neighboring border king with absolute brutality.
Splash.
"Shit!!. I knew it," Barry said, his eyes instantly tracking the movements of the attackers. "Some of these identities didn’t come here for the meeting about monster and gates. They are inside the venue for a completely different event."
He spun his body around, his hand reaching out to grab Suzy’s shoulder. "Suzy, this is bad , We need to leave this room immediatel—"
A sensation cut straight through the center of Barry’s chest.
Barry froze, his breath catching completely as a numbness spread outward from his core. He looked down at his own body. A long sword had pierced cleanly through his back, its bloody tip protruding straight out of his chest, dripping red blood on the floor.
Standing right behind him was a silent attacker wearing a black mask. The man smiled coldly under his cloth, violently drawing the sword straight out of Barry’s body with a tearing sound.
Barry staggered forward, his vision blurring instantly as the attack hit dangerously close to his heart. But his survival instincts did not let him collapse easily. With a hard grunt, he accessed his internal system link, drawing his sword straight from his inventory slot into his right hand. He swung the sword backward in a fast, desperate arc, delivering a deep wound across the assassin’s chest that sent the man crashing into the broken tables.
