Chapter 41: why should we leave?

I walked over to a large mirror on the wall. Since I was tall now, I had to bend down a little bit to see my face clearly. I poked my new cheek with my thumb, turning my head side to side to check my sharp features.

"Hey, manager," I called out, my new human voice sounding very deep. "My face looks pretty good, but don’t you think this black suit makes me look like a store manager? I feel like I should be holding a clipboard."

Suzy looked up from the floor, watching me fiddle with my black tie. A tiny laugh escaped her lips, her shoulders finally relaxing. "You just beat a royal prince, Barry, and now you are worried about looking like a grocery clerk? You are completely ridiculous."

"First impressions are everything in business, Suzy," I smiled.

I walked back over to her and held out my right hand to help her up from the get up. Suzy looked at my hand, her cheeks blushing red as she remembered how tightly I had just been holding her against my chest. She hesitated for a second, before she reached out and let her warm fingers slide into my grip.

I pulled her up, but because my power and strength was so high, I accidentally pulled her way too hard.

She flew straight forward, her chest bumping directly against my jacket and i can feel her soft soft touching my body. I quickly caught her waist with my left arm to keep her from falling into a coin box. Our faces were just inches apart. Her eyes locked into mine, and her sweet breath hit my chin. The sudden closeness made my face warm up, and Suzy froze completely, her face burning red as she stared up at me.

"Barry..." she whispered, her voice very soft and shy. "Y–You are doing this on purpose now."

"I told you, manager," I murmured, my yellow eyes gleaming through my black hair. "My new body is still adjusting. It’s a completely normal to do small mistakes like this."

Suzy blinked, her fingers tightening around my arm for a second before she quickly pushed herself away. She turned her back to me, adjusting her clothes to hide her embarrassment. "Just tell me what the plan is. The royal guards are still outside. We need to leave the capital before the main palace army arrives."

"Why should we leave?" I replied, fixing my cuffs. "The Prince is already dead, his money is right here, and his main base is open. I think it’s time to take over the throne room completely, we won’t get a chance like this again."

Suzy spun around, her face shocked"You want to become the King?!"

"Hell no," I said immediately, waving my hand.

’Being a King means dealing with infinite paperwork, listening to annoying nobles, and working twenty hours a day. I already did that at my old store, and I hated it. I just want to enjoy a luxury life, sleep on nice pillows, eat expensive fruit, and count our profits, hehehe, finally i can live such a luxury life.’

You’re the one who needs to sit on that throne."

I said to her , Suzy stood completely still, her jaw dropping.

"M–Me? You want me to lead the kingdom?"

"Yes," I said, my voice becoming serious as I stepped closer. "Think about it. You know how to run a massive guild. You actually care about the common people in the villages, and you know how to manage the city accounts perfectly. Nobody is better than you for this throne. I will handle the security and clean out the enemies and others matter but you –you are the real boss."

Suzy stared at me for a long time, her breathing fast. She realized I wasn’t making a joke. A beautiful smile finally formed on her lips, and her eyes flared with a new power.

"You really are a completely unpredictable partner, Barry," Suzy said, her voice turning firm as she gripped her sword tightly. " Even though you might be right, but still i don’t think I will be able to—"

"Suzy, think about it, we have to do this, people need us, if we don’t do it then who will save the people?." I said before she can deny, I said some dramatic words so she can make her choice.

Suzy look at her sword for few second and think about her father who always care about his people.

You are completely right barry, even though i still have many things to learn but i will save the people, so Let’s change this kingdom."

"That’s what I like to hear, partner," I laughed.

I walked over to the boxes of gold coins and opened my hands, running my Liquidate Assets skill. The thousands of gold pieces turned into a bright river of numbers that flew straight into my system inventory panel.

[Inventory Update: 500,000 Gold Coins successfully stored.]

"Everything is clear here," I said, turning to the ladder. "Let’s go upstairs now."

We climb up ,pushed the fountain hatch open, and stepped out into the garden. But the peace didn’t last. The moment our feet hit the path, six elite palace guards came rushing around the hedge line with their long blades drawn.

"Intruders in the garden! Protect the sector!" the lead guard shouted, lunging straight toward Suzy.

"I’ll handle this line, manager," I said, stepping right in front of her.

I didn’t draw a weapon. I just waited until the lead guard was three feet away, his blade coming down toward my shoulder. I used my speed to glide right inside his reach, my hand flying out like a flash.

"Your account is completely overdrawn!" I roared, using my active skill [The Customer Is Always Wrong].

The wave of manager authority hit into the guard’s face. His eyes went completely blank, and his sword hand froze mid-air.

I balled up my fist and delivered a massive punch straight to his helmet, sending him flying backward into the rose bushes. I turned around smoothly, kicking the second guard in the chest and knocking him clean off the path.

The remaining four guards stopped in their tracks, their faces turning completely pale as they felt the Ascendant pressure coming off my body. They looked at their two beaten friends, then looked at me, They were trembling in pure fear.

I adjusted my necktie, looking down at them with a smile. "The previous owner has just been dead. If you want to keep your jobs, you answer to the new Director now."

Suzy stepped up right next to my back, her father’s sword gleaming in the sun. "Drop your weapons and lead us to the main palace hall. It’s time to change the king."
