Infinite Snake Evolution: But My System is a Total Menace
Chapter 101: Alliance
The demon lieutenant didn’t even have time to finish his warning. The moment our combined energies locked, the entire basin exploded into a blinding storm of golden shockwaves and roaring
fire.
Qing Yan moved like a red phantom, the deep slit of her dress parting elegantly as she delivered a rapid sequence of high-speed kicks. With every strike, she activated her qi, unleashing pillars of white-hot fire that completely engulfed the elite scouts, vaporizing their obsidian armor into black ash before they could even scream.
I stepped into the fray right beside her, my newly achieved aura expanding outward in massive golden shockwaves. I balled my fists, driving direct, high-impact punches that shattered the weapons of the remaining enforcers, launching their broken bodies violently into the stone cliffs.
The demon lieutenant frantically reached for the black spiritual horn at his waist to signal for reinforcements. But before his fingers could even touch the metal, I vanished into thin air.
CRACK!
I reappeared directly in front of him, my hand coated in a layer of golden energy. I drove a lightning-fast punch straight into his chest, shattering the iron down the middle. The force launched his massive nine-foot frame backward, crashing him hard into the wall where he slumped down, completely knocked out . The silence of the basin rushed back, broken only by the crackle of the lingering flames.
The four human survivors stood completely frozen against the cliff, their swords trembling as they stared at the absolute devastation we had caused in less than two minutes. The young leader with the cut on his forehead slowly lowered his azure sword, his voice shaking with absolute awe.
“You… who are you people?” he gasped, his eyes darting from my white and blue robes to the stunning, pristine red dress Qing Yan wore. “A Meridian Stage master and a Genesis Peak expert… how is such a powerful duo traveling out here?”
“Just your traveling heroes, nothing to worry about,” I grinned, crossing my arms casually. “Are you guys alright?”
Before the leader could speak, a young male cultivator from the back of their group stepped forward. He had been tending to the injured, but the moment he saw Qing Yan’s face clearly under the morning light, his jaw dropped.
“Qing Yan?!” the young man blurted out, taking three frantic steps forward, his eyes wide with absolute shock. “Is that really you? You’re alive?!”
Qing Yan blinked, her eyes fading back into her soft, natural gaze. She looked closely at the young man, her brow furrowing before recognition hit her. “Lu Chen? You… you survived the destruction of the outer sects?”
“I did!” Lu Chen said, his voice with sudden emotion. A few years ago, before the demons overran the region, he had possessed a massive, unrequited crush on Qing Yan, constantly trying to court her with poetry, though she had always ignored him.
He stepped closer, completely ignoring me, his eyes drinking in her stunning red gown and the long gold earrings swaying against her neck.
“I thought the demons had taken you forever! I can’t believe how beautiful you look now… and your cultivation level had also improved, it’s incredible! Now that I’ve found you, I will protect you. You don’t have to worry anymore.”
I watched this play out, a highly amused, dangerous smirk slowly spreading across my face. I stepped right into his path, casually placing myself directly between him and Qing Yan, completely blocking his view of her.
“Hey there, man,” I murmured, leaning back slightly with a teasing grin. “I appreciate the emotional reunion, but I think you’re forgetting who just cleared the entire demon squad while you guys were hiding against the wall. And for the record, she doesn’t need your protection, you can’t even protect yourself how will you protect her?. She can protect herself and also she got me.”
Lu Chen’s face instantly twisted into pure jealousy. He glared at my white and blue robes, his fists clenching tight. “And who the hell are you?! Qing Yan is a proud, noble cultivator from a distinguished background! Why is she traveling through a dangerous gorge with an arrogant, fast-talking rogue like you?”
“Oh, I’m a rogue now?” I laughed loudly, turning my head back toward her. “Hey, Fire Empress, did you hear that? Your old friend here thinks I’m a rogue.”
Qing Yan’s face slightly blushing Hearing me call her Fire Empress right in front of her old acquaintance made her incredibly shy and completely irritated. She reached out, her delicate hand violently pinching my forearm. “Barry! Shut your mouth! Stop calling me that ridiculous name in front of people!”
She turned to Lu Chen, her voice dropping into a defensive tone as she tried to hide her blushing cheeks. “Lu Chen, stop it. Barry is… he is the one who saved me from the demon camps. We are traveling together.”
Seeing her defend me and blush so intensely only made Lu Chen’s jealousy boil over. His eyes filled with anger. “Saved you?! Qing Yan, don’t be fooled by him! He’s just taking advantage of your situation! With my skills, I can accompany you to the sanctuary—”
“Alright, that’s enough drama lu Chen,” the group’s leader interrupted firmly, stepping between Lu Chen and me before a fight could break out. He looked at me with deep respect, then turned back to his map. “Senior, my name is Jiang Wei. We don’t have time to argue about personal matters. The reason we were crossing this dangerous gorge is because we received urgent intelligence.”
Jiang Wei lowered his voice, looking around the rocky basin cautiously. “Deep inside a hidden cave just three miles from here, a set of legendary cultivation items and ancient artifacts have been unsealed. But the problem is… several high-tier Demon Lords have also found out about it. Their elite forces are already marching toward that cave to seize the legendary weapons before the human alliance can get them.”
Jiang Wei looked directly into my eyes, his expression serious. “If those Demon Lords get their hands on those legendary items, the hidden human sanctuary will stand no chance. We were trying to get there first, but we are too weak. Senior Barry… Lady Qing Yan… we need to form an alliance. With your incredible strength and our knowledge of the cave’s traps, we can take the items before the demons arrive.”
I looked at Jiang Wei, the teasing grin fading into a calculated warrior’s focus. The idea of intercepting legendary artifacts right under the noses of the Demon Lords sounded perfect, especially since my System had just been fully upgraded.
“A cave full of legendary loot and a bunch of Demon Lords to beat up?” I muttered, the arrogant smirk returning to my face. I glanced back at Qing Yan, who gave me a firm, resolute nod, her long gold earrings moving with her nod.
“Sounds like a party. Alliance accepted.” I said
Lu Chen let out a frustrated, angry scoff from the back, glaring at me with pure hatred, but I completely ignored him, lacing my fingers firmly back into the Fire Empress’s hand as we prepared to march toward the hidden cave.
