Infinite Save: I Cultivate Immortality Through Reincarnation
Chapter 721: Insight
Only Fan Mowen could hear Chu Xiyao’s voice.
She had already used her exquisite control over spiritual energy to disperse the sound waves completely as they spread outward.
Even Passable God Realm cultivators with decent talent could master and use this technique.
“Supreme Elder Chu.”
Fan Mowen continued to toy with the teacup in his hand.
“I heard that the rifts caused by the collapse of the laws of heaven and earth are about to spread to Kongshan Sect’s gates... I never expected that you, a Grand Elder of the Supreme Martial Pacification Court of Kongshan Sect, would have the leisure to travel alone to a teahouse in the Eastern Domain for a cup of tea.”
“It’s nothing.”
Chu Xiyao replied calmly.
“It takes no more than a day to travel from Kongshan Sect to Lingxiao Temple here in the Eastern Domain of Chenping Continent.”
“So, Supreme Elder Chu, what brings you here to see me?”
As he spoke, Fan Mowen wore an expression that seemed almost provocative.
“Ah, I know. Is this because I had Supreme Elder Du of Baili Sect ask you that silly little question...?”
Chu Xiyao gave no particular response. She merely tapped the square table before her lightly with her knuckle.
In almost an instant, the two of them were no longer inside the teahouse.
They had even left Shengjing.
Chu Xiyao stood on a cliff more than ten li from Shengjing.
Fan Mowen’s Martial Spring and meridians had all been sealed by Chu Xiyao.
She had also tied his hands and feet with rope, leaving him completely unable to move.
“You seem to know a great deal about the secrets of my Kongshan Sect,” Chu Xiyao said slowly.
“What secrets?”
Even with his hands and feet bound, Fan Mowen remained entirely composed.
“You know the details of the Heavenly Summit Mountain Cataclysm and the Outer Court Cataclysm at Kongshan Sect. It’s hard not to suspect that you’re one of Huo Mu’s remnants.”
Chu Xiyao spoke evenly.
After the Outer Court Cataclysm, the purge of Huo Mu and his followers had been personally overseen by He Zongzhou, the Supreme Martial Pacification Elder of Kongshan Sect.
Within the sect, He Zongzhou commanded enough prestige to root out Huo Mu’s followers.
But the cultivators who supported Huo Mu’s plan to revive the Black Flood Dragon and break through the limits imposed by heaven and earth had not all come from Kongshan Sect.
Or rather, although Huo Mu had been the mastermind behind the Heavenly Summit Mountain Cataclysm and Kongshan Sect’s Outer Court Cataclysm, none of the Five Great Sects had truly been innocent.
At the time, many cultivators had agreed with Huo Mu’s nearly insane “scheme.”
But He Zongzhou lacked the prestige to extend his reach into the other Five Great Sects.
As a result, many cultivators who had supported Huo Mu escaped the judgment they deserved.
“Supreme Elder Chu, what are you doing?”
Hearing Chu Xiyao’s accusation, Fan Mowen simply laughed first.
“Is this a case of condemning a man by inventing whatever charges you please?”
Despite Fan Mowen’s mockery, Chu Xiyao retained her icy, aloof expression and calmly continued.
“I’ll give you two choices, Elder Fan.”
“Rather harsh, isn’t it?”
Bound hand and foot, Fan Mowen first snorted through his nose, then said this.
“The first choice is to die as one of Huo Mu’s remnants.”
Chu Xiyao continued.
“The second is to tell me everything you know.”
“What if I choose neither?”
Fan Mowen asked.
“Then you can consider that equivalent to choosing the first.”
Chu Xiyao replied.
“So Supreme Elder Chu means that if I fail to give you a satisfactory answer, you’ll kill me.”
Fan Mowen said.
“Exactly.”
Chu Xiyao’s answer was brief.
“Then by all means, give it a try, Supreme Elder Chu.”
The Offering Elder of Vast Dome Gate, dressed in the daoist robes of Star Heaven Sect, smiled.
For the first time, the ever-frigid expression on Chu Xiyao’s face shifted ever so slightly.
She had never before encountered a Myriad Transformations Realm cultivator so brazen.
Chu Xiyao did not hesitate any longer. Her divine sense stirred, and a stream of spiritual energy shot straight toward Fan Mowen, bound hand and foot before her.
Spiritual energy could only be wielded by upper three realm cultivators. To a Myriad Transformations Realm cultivator, it was a lethal attack.
But just before Chu Xiyao’s spiritual energy struck Fan Mowen, it suddenly vanished.
It was as though it had never existed.
Chu Xiyao gave a slight start.
Her first thought was that the Star Heaven Sect’s Vast Dome Gate Offering Elder might have some powerful protective treasure on him.
She soon realized that was not the case.
For Chu Xiyao sensed a presence so powerful that it made her soul tremble. It had appeared a dozen or so zhang away.
It was a handsome young man wearing a plain white daoist robe.
The hem of his robe fluttered in the howling wind rushing over the cliff.
Chu Xiyao knew exactly who he was.
“...True Person Chen.”
The moment she saw Chen Yan, Chu Xiyao straightened and respectfully bowed in his direction.
Although Du Cang Mountain no longer existed, Chen Yan’s prestige in Chenping Continent still surpassed that of the other Immortal Ascension Realm cultivators.
In other words, Du Cang Mountain, the sacred cultivation site, had not made Chen Yan the Steward of Chenping Continent.
Rather, it was Chen Yan, the Steward of Chenping Continent, who had made Du Cang Mountain what it was.
“It’s been a long time, Elder Chu.”
Chen Yan spoke to Chu Xiyao.
Chu Xiyao maintained her bow, her heart filled with shock. She had never imagined that the one protecting Fan Mowen would be an Immortal Ascension Realm cultivator...
And of all people, it had to be him.
“I’ll handle Elder Fan’s affairs. Elder Chu, you should return to Kongshan Sect.”
Chen Yan continued.
“True Person Chen...”
“Go back.”
Chu Xiyao clearly still wanted to say more, but Chen Yan immediately cut her off.
“...Yes.”
In the end, Chu Xiyao could only answer this way.
The cool, white-clad woman vanished in a flash. A few breaths later, she had disappeared beyond the horizon.
“True Person Chen.”
Bound hand and foot, Fan Mowen sat on the ground and looked at Chen Yan, who had appeared before him, entirely at ease.
“We meet again, Elder Fan.”
Chen Yan said,
“You seem to have known all along that I would step in to save you.”
“Even if you didn’t save me this time, or the next, there would eventually be a time when you would. Wouldn’t there, True Person?”
Fan Mowen replied lightly.
Chen Yan raised an eyebrow slightly.
“I’m very interested in the ‘cause and effect’ coiled around Elder Fan. It’s even hard to say whether it really is cause and effect... I’ve always wondered why the threads of cause and effect around you are so chaotic.”
As he spoke, Chen Yan paused briefly.
“I think I’ve guessed the answer now.”
“May I ask what answer True Person Chen has guessed?”
Fan Mowen calmly watched the handsome young man in the plain white daoist robe before him.
Chen Yan answered directly.
“Weaving Dreams Night Sky Observation Mirror.”
