Infinite Save: I Cultivate Immortality Through Reincarnation

Chapter 115: Nandou Domination Technique

When Chen Yan last fought on a challenge stage, it was at the outer court competition a little over a year ago.

Back then his opponents were all just Body Forging Realm cultivators.

He cut through them like slicing vegetables, never having known what a real rival was.

But now it was different.

This was not some outer court competition, it was the Heavenly Summit Mountain Dao Inquiry.

All the heaven-chosen talents of Chenping Continent had gathered here.

There was no absolute gap in cultivation between Chen Yan and his opponents.

Moreover, Chen Yan lagged far behind many of them in the study of techniques and arts.

But Chen Yan was not at a disadvantage in every respect.

At this moment his cultivation reached the peak of Martial Spring Realm.

Because he cultivated the Hidden Immortal Art, a top-tier mental method that surpassed Kongshan Sect’s Kongshan Art and even Lingxiao Temple’s Heavenly Dominion Canon by who knew how many levels.

Chen Yan’s true qi was far deeper and purer than that of ordinary peak Martial Spring cultivators.

Even the total reserve of true qi within his Martial Spring could reach several times that of those ordinary peak Martial Spring cultivators.

Sheer brute force.

This was the strategy Chen Yan adopted.

His cheap master and Senior Martial Uncle Yue Chi had indeed told him not to try to stand out too much at this Heavenly Summit Mountain Dao Inquiry, just to bring him out to see the world and make his name known.

However, not making a fool of himself at Heavenly Summit Mountain meant Chen Yan could only lose to disciples from the Five Great Sects.

Against Dao Inquirers from ordinary sects, Chen Yan had to achieve complete victory.

Pu Yuanzhou, the sect’s eldest senior brother of Nandou Sect.

Nandou Sect was a mid-sized sect in the southern part of Chenping Continent with a fairly long history.

Unlike the gargantuan Five Great Sects, sects of this scale did not split into multiple peak branches.

In a sense, the sect eldest senior brother of Nandou Sect represented the top young figure of that sect’s generation.

Therefore, in the several countries surrounding Nandou Sect, Pu Yuanzhou’s name was famously renowned.

He was mid-stage Martial Spring Realm.

Chen Yan’s public cultivation, however, was still early-stage Martial Spring, having only barely advanced into Martial Spring for less than a month, so his foundation could be considered unstable.

Thus, although Chen Yan was the Chief Disciple of Kongyuan Mountain of Kongshan Sect and a Dao Inquirer from one of the Five Great Sects, the cultivators on the viewing stand still held reservations about the match between Chen Yan and Pu Yuanzhou.

Even odds.

That was the betting line set by the gamblers in the corner of the viewing stand for the Chen Yan versus Pu Yuanzhou match.

“Chief Disciple Chen, I have long admired you!”

Pu Yuanzhou stood on the west side of the stage, cupping his hands toward Chen Yan. His words and tone contained both respect for Chen Yan and his own bold, heroic spirit.

“Brother Pu, you’re too polite.”

Chen Yan bowed in return.

Pu Yuanzhou himself believed that he had a chance to win against someone who had only recently advanced into Martial Spring.

But he still dared not relax for a single moment.

After all, his opponent was a Dao Inquirer from one of the Five Great Sects.

At the Heavenly Summit Mountain Dao Inquiry it was not uncommon for Dao Inquirers from the Five Great Sects to overturn Dao Inquirers from ordinary sects across realms.

Nearly every Dao Inquiry had several such examples.

For instance, late-stage Martial Spring disciples from the Five Great Sects defeating peak Martial Spring disciples from ordinary sects, or mid-stage Martial Spring disciples overcoming late-stage Martial Spring opponents from ordinary sects.

In the previous assembly there was even a mid-stage Martial Spring disciple from Lingxiao Temple who defeated a peak Martial Spring disciple from the southeast of Chenping Continent.

However, there had never been a record of an early-stage Martial Spring disciple from the Five Great Sects defeating a mid-stage Martial Spring opponent.

Throughout the history of the Chenping Continent Dao Inquiry, it was rare for the Five Great Sects to send early-stage Martial Spring disciples to compete on the Heavenly Summit Mountain.

Which of the Five Great Sects did not have talent in abundance?

Only when talent was disastrously depleted would they deploy early-stage Martial Spring disciples.

Yet Kongyuan Mountain had indeed experienced a recent gap in talent.

Talented children between ten and fourteen existed, but among contemporary Kongyuan Mountain disciples aged fifteen to twenty, none could really stand out.

All eyes in the viewing stands from every corner, the cultivators from across Chenping Continent, including elders and disciples of the Five Great Sects, were now focused on the seventh stage in the Daoyan Arena.

That was the match between Chen Yan and Pu Yuanzhou.

In this round the Five Great Sects had only Chen Yan participating.

Most cultivators on the viewing stands wanted to see how capable this sudden prodigy, the direct-line Chief Disciple of Kongshan Sect, truly was.

“Excuse me!”

Pu Yuanzhou shouted, then fully opened his meridians. A faint red sheen rose on his body and thin wisps of steam began to seep off him.

His sclera turned reddened, his breathing quickened, and the protective true qi overflowing from his meridians began to coalesce more tightly.

“Nandou Domination Technique!”

On the viewing stand, some disciples from southern sects like Nandou Sect exclaimed in surprise.

“What kind of art is the Nandou Domination Technique?”

An uninformed cultivator beside them asked.

“It’s an extremely brutal grappling art. It fuses true qi into the sinews and bones, greatly enhancing speed and strength, massively boosting close-quarter combat. To a certain extent it can cover significant cultivation gaps when facing opponents not skilled in body arts… it’s too cheating!”

The more that disciple spoke, the angrier he became.

The uninformed cultivator beside him’s mouth twitched twice.

“Could it be this brother suffered a loss at the hands of a Nandou Sect cultivator?”

The disciple quickly turned toward him with a displeased look.

“No. I just think you yap too much. So what if I lost to that dirty Nandou Domination Technique? You losing is inevitable too. If you don’t believe me, let’s go find an empty spot and train a few moves.”

The uninformed cultivator took half a step back, smiling awkwardly:

“Brother, don’t be rash. I mean no ill will, but if you want to stretch your limbs, I can go a couple rounds with you.”

“Oh? You’ve got some nerve!”

The disciple said as he rolled up his sleeves.

“I am an elite disciple of Wind-Piercing Mountain from the Southern River State of Chenping Continent, late-stage Qi Circulation Realm. What do you go by?”

“I am Offering Elder of the Hall of Loyal Hearts, Jiang Qian, mid-stage Qi Sea Realm.”

The uninformed cultivator answered with a smile.

The Wind-Piercing Mountain disciple’s arrogant demeanor immediately froze, his facial muscles twitching uncontrollably. His fierce expression instantly melted into obsequious flattery:

“So it’s Elder Jiang. How rude of me, how rude. What would you have me do? Should I kneel and kowtow twice for you right now?”
