Chapter 69: A New Morning
Jason’s eyes brightened at her question.
"I couldn’t like you more."
The answer came without hesitation.
Sabrina’s heart fluttered.
For a moment, she simply looked at him, as if making sure she hadn’t imagined what she’d just heard.
Then she slowly exhaled.
She had already taken the first step.
There was no point pretending she didn’t care anymore.
A shy smile appeared on her lips as she reached across the table and lightly touched his lips with her fingertip.
"If that’s true..." she whispered, her eyes filled with playful warmth, "then maybe there’s still a lot about me you haven’t discovered."
Jason smiled.
He hadn’t expected Sabrina to become this bold.
It was different from her usual teasing at the gym. Tonight, there was something more vulnerable beneath her confidence.
Sabrina gently took his hand.
"Come on."
She glanced toward the bedroom, then looked back at him with a mischievous smile.
"Your trainer still has a few things to teach you."
Jason immediately understood the joke.
"Then I’ll listen carefully, Coach."
He gave her an innocent look.
"I’m still a beginner, after all. I’ll follow whatever instructions you give me."
Sabrina covered her mouth, trying not to laugh.
"You really are impossible."
She shook her head, but her smile gave her away.
After another playful exchange, they disappeared into the bedroom, the door closing softly behind them.
The rest of the night passed in quiet conversation, laughter, and the closeness that had been building between them for days.
---
Ding!
[Sabrina’s Favorability toward the Host has increased by 1.]
[Current Favorability: 100.]
[Congratulations, Host! Sabrina’s Favorability has reached the maximum value.]
[Achievement Unlocked: Irreplaceable.]
[Reward: Charm +1.]
[Sabrina’s Favorability has reached 100 and is now permanently locked.]
[Favorability will no longer decrease.]
Jason stared at the notifications for a moment.
A smile slowly spread across his face.
He had done it.
For the first time, the system had completely locked a person’s favorability toward him.
And somehow, that number felt different from all the others.
Because behind it was a real person.
A woman who had opened her heart to him despite everything she’d been through.
Jason glanced toward Sabrina.
She was already asleep.
For once, she looked completely peaceful.
---
The Next Morning
Sunlight slipped through the thin curtains, spreading across the bedroom floor in soft golden patches.
Outside, the city was slowly waking.
Inside the apartment, everything was quiet.
Sabrina was already awake.
She sat on the edge of the bed for a moment, gathering herself before getting up.
The previous night had left her exhausted, but there was a contented smile on her face.
She looked back at Jason.
He was still sleeping peacefully, one arm resting outside the blankets, his expression relaxed.
Sabrina couldn’t help smiling.
She leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead.
"Sleep a little longer."
Then she quietly left the room.
She made her way toward the kitchen, moving a little more carefully than usual.
The previous evening had certainly taken a lot out of her.
But she didn’t mind.
She wanted to make breakfast.
For some reason, preparing a meal for Jason felt strangely meaningful.
It wasn’t just about food.
It was her way of showing affection.
The kitchen was small but tidy, with everything arranged neatly in its place.
Sabrina opened the refrigerator and pulled out eggs, bread, and a few fresh vegetables.
She cracked the eggs into a bowl and whisked them until the mixture was smooth.
Soon, the pan was warming on the stove.
A small amount of oil went in first.
Then the eggs.
Hiss.
The kitchen quickly filled with the comforting smell of breakfast.
Sabrina carefully folded the eggs, then placed them between two slices of toasted bread.
She added lettuce and a little ketchup before pressing everything together.
She made two sandwiches.
Then she warmed two glasses of milk.
When she finally stepped back and looked at the breakfast spread across the counter, satisfaction filled her expression.
"Perfect."
She imagined Jason sitting down and taking his first bite.
A smile appeared.
I wonder if he’ll like it.
---
Jason was still asleep when Sabrina returned to the bedroom.
He was lying on his side, breathing evenly.
She stood beside the bed for a moment, watching him.
There was something almost adorable about how peaceful he looked.
She gently tapped his shoulder.
"Stinky Little Brother."
No response.
She tapped him again.
"Wake up, you lazy pig. Breakfast is ready."
Jason slowly stirred.
"Hmm..."
"Come on."
She smiled.
"If you sleep any longer, everything will get cold."
Jason finally opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw was Sabrina standing beside the bed.
His sleepy expression immediately disappeared.
"Morning."
"Morning."
Jason stretched and rubbed his eyes.
Then he looked at her.
"You got up this early to make breakfast?"
"Of course."
She crossed her arms.
"You need to eat."
Jason smiled.
"You worked hard last night, and you’re already up making breakfast."
Sabrina’s face instantly turned pink.
"Don’t say it like that!"
She rolled her eyes at him.
"You’re unbelievable."
Jason laughed.
Sabrina turned away before he could see the smile she was trying to hide.
"Hurry up and wash your face. Your breakfast is waiting."
She pointed toward the kitchen.
"I even made you a sandwich."
Jason climbed out of bed.
"A sandwich made with love?"
Sabrina glanced back at him.
"Don’t push your luck."
She headed toward the kitchen.
Jason watched her for a moment.
There was something incredibly warm about seeing her like this.
Not the confident fitness coach from the gym.
Not the woman who constantly teased him.
Just Sabrina.
A woman making breakfast for someone she cared about.
He smiled and followed her.
As she walked ahead, Jason suddenly caught up and gently wrapped his arms around her from behind.
Sabrina froze.
"Jason..."
She glanced over her shoulder.
"What are you doing?"
"Getting my morning greeting."
She laughed softly and placed her hands over his.
"You’re such a clingy little brother."
"Maybe."
He rested his chin lightly near her shoulder.
"But breakfast can wait a minute."
Sabrina’s cheeks warmed.
She gently tried to pull his hands away.
"Breakfast cannot wait."
"Why?"
"Because it’ll get cold."
She turned her head slightly, trying not to smile.
"Let go."
Jason tightened his embrace just a little, still keeping the moment playful.
"No."
Sabrina sighed.
"You’re impossible."
She finally gave up trying to look annoyed.
Then she smiled.
"Fine. One minute."
Jason grinned.
"Deal."
And for a moment, neither of them moved.
The smell of warm toast and eggs drifted through the apartment.
Sunlight spilled across the kitchen floor.
Outside, the world was beginning another ordinary day.
But inside that little apartment, neither of them felt like the morning was ordinary at all.
