Chapter 533 270: Incident_2
"Yes!!!"
The armored soldiers obeyed the order, forcibly dragging Li Feng out of the study.
"Haha!!!"
Song Yu took a deep breath and then sat down, leaning against the dragon chair, pale but with an unusual flush. His body slightly trembled, feeling an unprecedented thrill.
It was the pleasure of having supreme power, of deciding life and death!
This is the joy of a ruler, this is the majesty of the Emperor!
The shackles are gone, the phoenix dances across the skies, the dragon soars over the seas, no longer bound by constraints.
"Hahaha!"
Suddenly, the Imperial Study resounded with wild laughter.
At the same time...
A group of Forbidden Guards held Li Feng tightly, bringing him outside Yangxin Hall, about to execute him with staffs.
Just then, a middle-aged man leading a team arrived, shouting at them sternly, "Stop!"
The execution guards hesitated, looking in disbelief at the newcomer, "Grand General, this is the Emperor's order..."
"Bang!!!"
Before the words were finished, armored soldiers behind him rushed forward, knocking away two execution guards and pinning them on the ground.
"Song Que!!!"
The sudden turn of events shocked everyone. Immediately, a commander among the guards shouted angrily, "How dare you defy the Emperor's decree and plot rebellion?"
However, Song Que ignored them completely. With a wave of his hand, the soldiers behind him leaped out like wolves and tigers, engaging these guards right in the palace.
The palace guards, part of the Divine Martial Army, were originally Jinyang Prefecture soldiers and Qinghe County soldiers. After Emperor Shenwu Li Mubai captured Jinling, he reorganized the army and named it Divine Martial, the main military group of Great Zhou.
But times had changed. After Song Yu ascended the throne, he continuously promoted people from the Northern Lands, including within the Divine Martial Army, mixing in numerous leaders from the Northern Lands who followed the Emperor's orders.
Though they were Northern soldiers, they were also elite battle warriors, not inferior to those from the Southern Lands, and even included many "Celestial Destiny Generals," unparalleled warriors granted Celestial Destiny, Dragon Qi, breaking the limits of Tier Three.
With such soldiers guarding the Imperial Palace, it should be foolproof.
But...
The soldiers behind Song Que, each with extraordinary physiques, resembling dragons and tigers, unlike ordinary soldiers.
Song Que released Li Feng and then drew his sword forward, bravely leading the charge, directly clashing with a Tier Four Celestial Destiny Star General, the commander of the Forbidden Guard.
At the same time, throughout the palace, at all major gates, armored soldiers emerged, some wearing Bright Golden Armor with yellow turbans around their necks and arms, clearly distinguishing friend from foe.
Meanwhile, outside the Imperial City, in the military camp.
"Boom boom boom!"
The Divine Martial Army North Camp is filled with the sound of drums. A group of leaders gathered, forming ranks, waiting in the camp.
Soon, two middle-aged men, one civil and one military, stepped out, none other than the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Rites Wang An and Vice Minister of the Ministry of War Wang Shi.
Vice Minister Wang An, a civil servant, held a yellow silk scroll with dragon patterns, which was the imperial edict. He faced the leaders and began to read: "By the will of Heaven, the Emperor decrees, there are traitors causing chaos within the palace. Order Vice Minister Wang Shi to lead the Divine Martial Army to protect the Emperor, guard the Imperial Palace, and seal off the nine gates of the capital city, forbidding anyone from entering or leaving..."
"Bang!!!"
Before the words were finished, a loud noise was heard, as the camp gate exploded.
"What is happening!?"
The leaders were appalled, looking angrily outside the camp, only to see dust and smoke rising, numerous steam engine-like iron beasts crushing forward, heavily armored, massive as mountains, with cannon barrels extending, emitting green smoke with hints of thunder and fire.
"What is this?"
"Steam... locomotive?"
"This is bad!!!"
The leaders' faces changed, preparing to summon their personal guards.
"Boom!!!"
They only heard a loud explosion, as a Flying Fire Meteor crashed into the camp, engulfing a group of Northern commanders in the barrage, shaking the earth, dust swirling.
"Ah!!!"
A Tier Four warrior, blessed by Celestial Destiny, sealed by Dragon Qi, roared angrily, activating true yuan to leap into the air, intending to break free, only to be struck head-on by a shell, instantly exploding with celestial thunder and earth fire, shattering steel armor and Tier Four martial body into powder.
In an instant, the North Camp of the Divine Martial Army transformed into a battlefield of smoke.
Steam surged, smoke enveloped, and firestorms raged, while countless steam engine-like iron beasts surrounded the main camp, wildly bombarding. Finally, a broadcast voice sounded:
"Wang Shi is rebelling, plotting chaos. The Divine Strategy Camp is commanded to suppress this rebellion. Northern soldiers, surrender and be spared!"
"..."
So, in the Imperial Palace.
"How could this happen?"
In front of Yangxin Hall, the sound of slaughter shook the heavens, the clash of swords and soldiers fractured.
Among the Forbidden Guards, Song Yu stood solemnly, already donned the Celestial Martial General Armor of yesteryears, reclaiming military power with the majesty of the Emperor.
But...
Looking outside Yangxin Hall, at the golden waves raging and impacting the guard line, Song Yu's face turned pale again, eyes filled with terror and uncertainty.
He knew the origin of these soldiers.
They were Yellow Turban Daoist Soldiers!
Yellow Turban Daoist Soldiers, Dharma Guardian Warriors, can be traced back to Little Huang Village times, originally served by villagers devoted to the Land God of Huang Village, later expanded to Qinghe and Huangshan Counties, and eventually throughout Jinyang Prefecture.
They are not ordinary soldiers but Soldiers protected by deities, reportedly blessed by deities, granted divine techniques and magical power, only those with firm belief can serve.
Such divine soldiers, though powerful, are rarely used in humane campaigns but specifically tasked with cleansing demons and ghosts, besides having duties of "mountain-breaking and temple-clearing," targeting demons and monsters, Evil God's lineage, and depraved religious temples.
But that's not the main point!
The main point is how they appear here.
Dharma Guardian Soldiers are not used in human conquests, only against demons and evil spirits, while Great Zhou sought unification, swiftly pacified the lands, adopted conciliatory strategies towards the Northern Lands, avoiding deploying Daoist Soldiers against the Three Sects' lineage in actions of mountain-breaking and temple-clearing.
Thus, during the Northern Expedition in the past, these Dharma Guardian Soldiers did not join the campaign but were all left in the Southern Lands, only after unification of the realm and stabilization of the Nine States were partially transferred, forming the Circulation Department, Inspectorate, Demon Suppression Bureau, Demon Suppression Bureau, and other divisions, focusing on dealing with demons and ghosts.
