Chapter 206: Chapter 14: Breaking the Illusion Realm, Demon Slayer

Abbot Liao Chen could feel that the mechanism at the secret passage’s entrance had been destroyed with brute force.

At the same time, the blue-robed man, Tao Yong, had his Casting interrupted. A trickle of blood slid down the corner of his mouth.

He looked up venomously in the direction of the secret passage, his eyes filled with overwhelming hatred.

"Who? Who the hell keeps ruining my plans?" he roared in fury.

Before the words had even faded, a rush of hurried footsteps could be heard from outside.

"Demon, get out here and die!"

Cong Bo’s furious shout boomed through the secret chamber like a clap of thunder.

Immediately after, his burly figure appeared at the chamber’s entrance.

When he got a clear look at the scene inside, even someone as worldly as him couldn’t help but suck in a cold breath.

The bizarre and evil Puppet, the dozen or so dried corpses, and the young girl whose soul was being extracted...

It all sent a chill down his spine.

"So it really is you remnants of the Puppet Sect!" Cong Bo’s gaze finally landed on Tao Yong and Abbot Liao Chen.

"The Demon Slayer Department?" Tao Yong was momentarily stunned when he saw Cong Bo and the Captains in standard uniforms behind him, but he quickly let out a disdainful sneer.

"I was wondering what impressive figures had shown up. Turns out it’s just a pack of the Court’s lapdogs."

"You think a few useless fools like you can capture me?"

He slowly rose to his feet, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his eyes filled with contempt and arrogance.

"Fine. I was going to let you live a few more days, but since you’ve come knocking on death’s door, I’ll grant your wish. As it happens, my Ling’Er is in need of a few powerful Souls for adornment, and yours will barely suffice!"

As he spoke, the aura around him changed abruptly.

A powerful presence, in no way weaker than Cong Bo’s, erupted from his body—the aura of a Sea Condensation Realm Cultivator.

At the same time, Abbot Liao Chen, who was beside him, also stood up. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

The old Monk, who had appeared so kind and benevolent, now wore a ferocious smile. An aura of the Unobstructed Realm Great Perfection burst forth from him.

Two master Evil Cultivators!

Cong Bo’s expression instantly became incredibly grim.

He hadn’t expected his opponents to be so powerful.

One at the Sea Condensation Realm, and one at the Unobstructed Realm Great Perfection.

On his side, besides himself at the Sea Condensation Realm, the rest were all just Captains at the Qi Cultivation Realm.

’This is going to be a tough fight!’

"Form the array!" Cong Bo shouted without the slightest hesitation.

The dozen or so Demon-slaying Captains behind him immediately fanned out with practiced discipline, forming a simple joint-attack Battle Array. They linked their auras together to jointly resist the pressure from their opponents.

Chen Ye, however, quietly retreated to the very back of the group, his eyes glinting as he mulled over some unknown thoughts.

He wasn’t a member of the Demon Slayer Department; there was no need for him to be on the front line.

"Heh, a futile struggle," Tao Yong said, his disdain deepening as he watched them form their array.

"Junior Brother, I’ll leave these small fry to you. The leader is mine. Remember to make it quick, don’t delay my real business!"

"Yes, Senior Brother!"

Abbot Liao Chen let out a savage laugh and shot forward, pouncing on them like a vulture.

"Courting death!" Cong Bo roared, just as he was about to act.

"Your opponent is me!"

Tao Yong’s cold voice rang out as his body flickered, appearing right in front of Cong Bo. He thrust a palm toward his chest.

The palm strike seemed light and airy, yet it carried an extremely cold and sinister gust of wind.

Wherever the palm wind passed, the very air seemed to freeze.

A chill ran through Cong Bo’s heart. Not daring to be careless, he immediately spun around and swung his Ghost Head Saber to meet the attack.

"Back off!"

A great crimson light erupted from the saber’s blade as a scorching wave of Blood Fiend Qi slashed viciously toward Tao Yong’s palm.

CLANG!

A tremendous crash resounded.

The collision of saber and palm unleashed a powerful shockwave of qi, sending spiderweb cracks across the surrounding floor.

Cong Bo felt a bone-chillingly cold power travel up the blade, making his entire arm go numb.

He stumbled back three steps before he managed to steady himself, a look of shock on his face.

’He’s so strong!’

They were both at the Sea Condensation Realm, but his opponent’s Inner Qi was far superior to his, both in purity and its yin-cold attribute!

"Not bad," Tao Yong said, slightly surprised that his first strike had failed. He withdrew his palm and looked at Cong Bo, the corner of his mouth twisting into a cold smile.

"But that’s all."

With that, he pressed the attack again, his offense growing even more ferocious.

For a moment, the entire secret chamber was filled with flashes of saber light and palm shadows as blasts of qi shot out in all directions.

The two Sea Condensation Realm masters were locked in combat.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Abbot Liao Chen had already clashed with the Demon Slayer Department’s Battle Array.

"A bunch of ants!"

Abbot Liao Chen sneered, his hands forming into claws as he attacked with wide, sweeping moves that were both sinister and ruthless.

Although he was only at the Unobstructed Realm, he relied on the bizarre nature of his Evil Technique and, for a time, fought to a standstill against the Battle Array formed by over a dozen Demon-slaying Captains.

The Demon Slayer Department’s joint-attack Battle Array could pool everyone’s strength, but it lacked refinement. Facing an experienced Evil Cultivator like Liao Chen, they were clearly stretched thin.

From time to time, a Captain would be struck by his sharp claw wind, letting out a muffled groan as deep gashes were left on their body.

The overall battle situation was extremely unfavorable for the Demon Slayer Department.

Cong Bo was completely suppressed by Tao Yong, barely able to hold on and completely unable to free himself to help.

And the other Captains were in constant danger of having their defensive line torn apart by Abbot Liao Chen.

Once the Battle Array was broken, they would be nothing more than lambs to the slaughter.

Chen Ye stood at the edge of the battlefield, taking it all in.
