Chapter 185 - 7: Fengman Building, White Bone Banner
Chapter 185: Chapter 7: Fengman Building, White Bone Banner
After his breakthrough, the entire world felt different to Chen Ye.
If the Inner Qi of the Qi Cultivation Realm was a trickling brook, then what now surged relentlessly through his body was a mighty river.
All his meridians were clear, allowing his qi to complete a full Circulation without the slightest hindrance.
Every thought, every ounce of power, could reach the furthest corners of his body in an instant.
It was an unprecedented sense of control, an exhilarating feeling of power.
Chen Ye was quite satisfied. He stood up and pushed open the door to his room.
When he reached the lobby, he saw the inn clerk boredly wiping a table. The moment the clerk saw Chen Ye descending the stairs, he immediately hurried over.
"Sir, my older cousin is a waiter at Fengman Building. He was just passing by to buy groceries and told me that Lü fellow is bad-mouthing you there again today. He said the things he’s saying are even nastier than the last couple of days."
Hearing this, Chen Ye sneered inwardly. He tossed the clerk a piece of broken silver as a tip, then walked straight out of the inn and headed for Fengman Building.
...
Inside Fengman Building, the air was thick with the smell of wine, and the entire place was a cacophony of noise.
At a table by the window on the second floor, Lü Song was triumphantly holding forth with two of his fellow disciples, his voice so loud that half the restaurant could hear him.
"That Chen fellow is just a gutless coward! I barely threatened him and he got so scared he hasn’t dared to show his face for two days. He’s probably tucked his tail between his legs and fled the city by now!"
"Hahaha, you’re right, Junior Brother! Some country bumpkin who crawled out of a ditch dares to oppose our White Bone Mountain? He’s simply courting death!"
"Come, Senior Brothers, let’s drink!"
The three of them continued to shout and laugh boisterously, yet no one else dared to say a word.
Because in this world, even Cultivators from unorthodox sects were not people common folk could afford to provoke.
Just then, a calm voice spoke from the stairwell.
"I heard you were looking for me?"
A sudden silence fell over the bustling restaurant, as if a switch had been flipped.
All eyes turned toward the voice to see a young man in black robes, a long saber hanging from his waist, ascending the stairs one step at a time.
His pace wasn’t fast, yet it carried an invisible, oppressive weight. Each step seemed to land heavily on the hearts of everyone present.
The smile on Lü Song’s face instantly froze, replaced by a savage scowl.
"Well, well. You actually dared to show up!"
He then slammed his hand on the table, pointed at Chen Ye, and roared, "I thought you were going to hide in that inn like a turtle in its shell forever! Since you dared to come out today, I’ll show you what it means to dig your own grave!"
Before his voice had even faded, Lü Song’s figure blurred. His fingers formed a claw, cutting through the air with a cold, sinister force as he lunged for Chen Ye’s throat.
He was already in the Unobstructed Realm, and he was confident this rage-fueled strike would be enough to capture Chen Ye on the spot for a thorough humiliation.
Yet, in the face of this vicious attack, Chen Ye didn’t even bat an eye.
He simply raised his hand casually.
SMACK!
The sound was crisp and clear.
Lü Song’s confident strike was blocked with casual ease by Chen Ye, his wrist caught in an iron grip, unable to budge an inch.
"You..."
Lü Song’s expression changed. Just as he tried to channel his power and break free, a boundless, majestic aura erupted from within Chen Ye.
This aura was far, far stronger than his own!
"The Unobstructed Realm?!"
"How is that possible!"
Lü Song and his two fellow disciples cried out in unison, disbelief written all over their faces.
Just a few days ago, the kid had only been in the Qi Cultivation Realm. How could he have broken through so quickly?
Such a rate of Cultivation was simply unheard of!
A chill rose in Lü Song’s heart. For the first time, he felt a pang of regret.
’Perhaps I never should have provoked this monster in the first place.’
"Are you done? If so, it’s my turn."
Chen Ye’s voice was ice-cold. With a sudden, sharp twist of his hand...
CRACK!
The sound of shattering bone was sickeningly clear.
"ARGH—!"
Lü Song let out a piercing shriek, his entire arm bent at an unnatural angle. His face contorted in agony from the intense pain.
"Junior Brother!"
"You insolent cur!"
Seeing this, the other two disciples flew into a rage. No longer able to sit by, they lunged at Chen Ye simultaneously, one from the left and one from the right.
Chen Ye snorted coldly and kicked the screaming Lü Song, sending him flying. He crashed through several tables before landing in a heap.
Then, instead of retreating, he charged forward to meet the two attacking disciples head-on.
SHING!
His saber left its sheath in a flash of cold light that streaked across the restaurant!
Although the two disciples were also in the Unobstructed Realm, their Cultivation had been artificially boosted by Evil Techniques. With such unstable foundations, they were no match for Chen Ye.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
A series of metallic clashes rang out. Fighting one against two, Chen Ye wasn’t at the slightest disadvantage. In fact, he seemed to grow stronger with every exchange.
His Saber Technique was vicious and precise, forcing the two into a flustered, desperate defense.
"Damn it, this kid’s saber is too fast!"
"Brothers, we have to cripple him today! Otherwise, we’ll bring shame to the name of White Bone Mountain."
Lü Song clutched his broken arm and struggled to his feet, roaring with a venomous expression. With his good hand, he pulled out an urn of bone ash and began pouring the contents directly into his mouth.
In an instant, the Yin Qi around him flared violently, and even his broken arm rapidly healed.
Then he, too, rejoined the fray.
The three of them surrounded him once more, their assault growing even more ferocious.
Yet even under their combined assault, Chen Ye’s movements were like a phantom’s, weaving between their attacks with ease.
Just then, Chen Ye spoke. "Trash is trash. It doesn’t matter how many of you there are."
His voice wasn’t loud, but it carried clearly to the ears of all three, dripping with undisguised mockery.
"You’re courting death!"
One of the taller, thinner disciples was completely enraged, a crazed and savage light flashing in his eyes.
He abruptly took a step back and pulled something from his robes: a palm-sized banner made entirely of white bone that radiated an ominous aura.
