Chapter 147: Chapter 118: Physical Exorcism
CLANG!
The spear tip clashed with the saber’s edge, creating a piercing screech of metal on metal.
Chen Ye felt a massive force travel up the spear shaft, making the webbing of his thumb go numb. But the Ghost General didn’t fare much better; he and his horse were jolted back several steps.
Man and ghost were evenly matched!
The Ghost General roared furiously, its Horse-Cutting Saber a whirlwind of motion, each slash aimed at Chen Ye’s vitals.
But Chen Ye’s spear moved like a dragon. He stabbed, parried, and swept, executing the Zhao Family Spear Technique with divine skill. His defense was impenetrable as he continuously searched for an opening.
After a fierce exchange, Chen Ye spotted a gap and thrust his spear forward.
"Break!"
The thrust was as fast as lightning, precisely piercing a gap in the Ghost General’s chest plate.
The Ghost General’s movements froze. It looked down at the spear tip protruding from its back, and then its entire body, like a newspaper set ablaze, exploded with a BOOM into a cloud of black Evil Qi that dissipated into the air.
"Hahh..."
The rescued Ge Kun collapsed to the ground, gasping for air, his soul still shaken.
"Thank you for saving my life, Boss Chen!"
"What exactly happened?" Chen Ye asked in a low voice, retracting his spear and reverting to his original appearance.
A look of deep grief and indignation crossed Ge Kun’s face. He then told Chen Ye everything that had happened at the City God Temple.
From his master observing the incense to the group of men in black storming the temple, and finally, to his master burning his own Soul to send a warning...
Hearing this, Chen Ye’s brow furrowed deeply.
’No doubt about it. That Jingxuan, Jingxin, and this Daoist are likely from the same lineage.’
’And their goal is to turn the entire Sea Guardian Guard into a Human World of Ghosts and Demons, all to achieve their own ulterior motives.’
Just then, both men felt the ground beneath them tremble violently again. They instinctively looked toward the City God Temple.
The Ghost Qi there had become incredibly dense, soaring into the sky to form a massive black vortex.
Meanwhile, the Withered and Flourishing Daoist, who was stationed there, looked deathly pale. But when he felt an utterly terrifying presence slowly awakening behind the phantom stone gate, he began to tremble with excitement.
"It’s finally succeeding! When the time comes, we’ll see who in this world dares to defy my commands! Hahahahaha..."
At that, the Withered and Flourishing Daoist couldn’t help but burst into laughter, his voice filled with endless triumph and arrogance.

"What in the world is that thing...?" Ge Kun’s voice trembled.
Chen Ye’s heart sank.
He could sense an unspeakable terror slowly awakening within the vortex of Ghost Qi.
Once it descended, the entire Sea Guardian Guard would be plunged into death and destruction.
’I can’t wait any longer!’
"To the General Temple! The Incense and Candle Power there is second only to the City God Temple’s in all of Sea Guardian Guard. It might be able to hold out for a while!"
He pulled Tie Dan and Chunyan to their feet and said to Ge Kun, "We fight side-by-side! Let’s go together!"
The group wasted no more time, turning and fighting their way toward the General Temple.
However, the gray mist around them thickened at a visible rate. Visibility dropped sharply until they could no longer see someone standing right in front of them.
The wails of ghosts and howls of gods came from all directions. Countless twisted, black shadows flickered in and out of sight within the thick fog, ready to lunge out and devour them at any moment.
"Brother Chen, I... I think we’re lost!" Tie Dan’s voice held a hint of a sob.
They were clearly running toward the General Temple, but it felt like they were just going in circles.
Despair, as thick and cloying as the mist, began to spread through their hearts.
Just then, a brilliant golden light suddenly flared in the distance!
The light wasn’t blinding, but it carried a grand and righteous majesty. Like a sharp sword, it pierced through the thick fog, forming a pillar of light that soared into the sky.
The source of the pillar of light was none other than the Everlasting Lamp on the roof of the General Temple!
It was like a lighthouse in a raging, nighttime sea, instantly showing all the lost survivors the way.
"The General has shown his power!"
"Quick! To the General Temple!"
However, this beacon of light also thoroughly enraged the city’s ghostly creatures.
"AWOOOO—!"
Innumerable ghosts and monsters shrieked, pouring out from every corner of the city. Like a black tide, they swarmed madly toward the single point of light, trying to devour the survivors before they could reach it.
A race against death had begun.
"Go!"
Chen Ye’s eyes narrowed. He formed a Sword Pointing gesture with his fingers, and the chant of the General’s Order rang out once more.
"My spear unhorses their finest generals, my steed tramples their soldiers, staining their armor in blood!"
The chant was stirring, and Sword Qi flew in all directions!
Like an indestructible blade, he carved a path straight through the tide of ghosts.
Ge Kun, suppressing his grief, took out the last few talismans he had. They burst into fire and lightning, protecting the group’s flanks.
The two worked in perfect concert, fighting as they moved. They finally charged up to the tall gatehouse of the General Temple just before the ghost tide could completely encircle them.
Behind them, the temple gates slammed shut with a thunderous BOOM.
Immediately after, a massive golden barrier of light spread out from the General Temple, enveloping the entire structure.
Countless ghostly claws slapped against the barrier, making a sizzling sound as they dissolved, but they could not advance another inch.
Inside the temple, the survivors collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.
An old man with white hair and a white beard, dressed in the robes of a Temple Priest, stood on the main hall’s high platform. His face was ashen as he gazed toward the distant City God Temple. His voice trembled as he said, "The General’s Divine Thought has sent a warning. A great and terrible being is descending. Once it breaks free... we won’t last longer than the time it takes an incense stick to burn."
