Chapter 139: Chapter 114: Magical Duel in a Dream
Without a moment’s hesitation, Chen Ye vaulted into the courtyard.
At the same time, this sinister wind, carrying a nauseatingly sweet fragrance, rushed straight toward Jingyun Temple.
Chen Ye strode forward to follow it. Just then, the doors to the two adjacent rooms were pushed open.
Mr. Lu and Qi Shihao rushed out, holding lanterns.
They had already been tossing and turning, unable to sleep due to their daughters’ strange conditions and the blizzard that had sealed the mountain. The sound immediately put them on high alert.
But when they rushed out, they only saw Chen Ye’s back as he flitted over to the outer wall of Jingyun Temple in just a few bounds.
"Boss Chen, what’s happening?" Qi Shihao asked in alarm.
Chen Ye’s voice carried through the wind and snow.
"There’s something wrong with Jingyun Temple! Have your men block the front and back gates. Don’t let anything inside get out!"
Before his voice had even faded, Chen Ye’s figure had already vanished over the wall.
Mr. Lu and Qi Shihao exchanged a glance, both seeing the horror in the other’s eyes.
They didn’t dare to delay. They immediately woke their coachmen and servants, ordering them to block the temple’s front and back gates while they themselves charged in, wielding Swords and Sabers.
The reason was simple: their daughters were still inside the temple. As fathers, how could they possibly stand by and do nothing?
「Meanwhile, inside Jingyun Temple.」
The moment Chen Ye landed after vaulting the wall, a wave of sinister cold washed over him, feeling even colder than the blizzard outside.
Chen Ye’s eyes hardened. Without pausing for a second, he rushed straight for the room where Lu Jinghong and Qi Nana were staying.
Before he even reached the door, he heard Qi Nana’s terrified, tearful cries from within.
"Jinghong, wake up! Don’t scare me!"
Chen Ye’s heart sank. He kicked the door open.
BANG!
The door slammed inward, startling Qi Nana. But when she saw it was Chen Ye, it was as if she’d found a lifeline. She cried out, "Boss Chen, please, look at Jinghong! She... she was fine just a moment ago, but then she suddenly passed out! Now her body is terrifyingly cold, and I can’t wake her no matter what I do!"
His expression grave, Chen Ye strode to the bedside.
On the bed, Lu Jinghong’s eyes were shut tight. Her face was as pale as paper, her lips were blue, and a faint wisp of black energy hovered between her brows. She was clearly entangled with an evil spirit.
Saving a life is as urgent as putting out a fire. Chen Ye reached out and placed his hand on Lu Jinghong’s forehead.
The next moment, he closed his eyes slightly and activated his Mirage Palace Actor Talent.
His Divine Thought flowed like water, instantly sinking into her dreamscape.
...
Meanwhile, Lu Jinghong was trapped in a state of boundless despair.
One moment, she had been talking with her best friend, Qi Nana. The next, her vision went black, and she found herself once again in that gloomy, eerie grand hall.
She was surrounded by a band playing an unsettling tune, while several expressionless Matchmakers held her shoulders in a death grip, pinning her in place.
In the center of the hall, the man in the bright red wedding robe, his face obscured, had already raised his hand. He slowly brought a dark red Elixir Pill, which emanated a strange, faint fragrance, to her lips.
"Eat this, and we shall never be parted."
The icy voice rang in her ear, laced with an undeniable command.
Lu Jinghong struggled desperately, whimpering in her throat, but she couldn’t even move a single finger.
As she watched the Elixir Pill draw closer and closer, its sickly sweet scent seeming to bore into her very brain, a bone-chilling despair completely overwhelmed her.
’It’s over...’
But just as her heart filled with ashes of despair, a figure appeared in the hall without any warning.
With a flick of his hand, a wide water sleeve unfurled like a bolt of white silk, carrying a sharp gust of wind that whipped the man in the wedding robe and sent him stumbling back several steps.
Then, the figure landed steadily in front of Lu Jinghong.
When she saw clearly who it was, Lu Jinghong froze for a moment, then her eyes welled up with tears of relief.
’It was Chen Ye!’
’She never imagined he would be the one to appear in her most desperate hour and shield her behind him.’
’In that moment, Lu Jinghong felt Chen Ye’s tall, straight figure grow even taller, and standing behind him, she was filled with an overwhelming sense of security.’
The man in the wedding robe, however, was not so pleased. Seeing his plans ruined, he let out an enraged roar.
"Where did this reckless fool come from? How dare you disrupt my, Lord Jun’s, wedding ceremony! You’re courting death!"
Chen Ye just smiled faintly. "Lord Jun? Heh. A skulking evil spirit is worthy of calling himself a ’Lord’?"
He had suspected something was off about the idol worshipped in Jingyun Temple, and now, hearing this thing call itself "Lord Jun" confirmed his suspicions.
"You’re courting death!"
Exposed by Chen Ye’s single sentence, the man flew into an even greater rage.
With a wave of his large hand, sinister winds howled through the hall. Countless blurry Ghost Shadows emerged from all directions, forming a dense, dark mass that completely surrounded Chen Ye and Lu Jinghong.
Chen Ye’s expression also grew a little grave.
He realized he seemed to be trapped in this dreamscape, temporarily unable to escape.
"Hahaha!" The man seemed to see through his thoughts and began to laugh wildly with glee.
"It’s useless. This is my dreamscape; you can’t leave. Seeing as you’re not bad-looking yourself, why don’t you stay and be a concubine for me? After all, it’s good to have a change of pace now and then."
At these words, a grim killing intent instantly flashed in Chen Ye’s otherwise calm eyes. ℴ
But he did not act on it immediately.
He was well aware that he was on his opponent’s home turf—the dreamscape—and was therefore at a natural disadvantage.
A direct confrontation was therefore not the best strategy. The only way was to turn the tables—to drag this so-called Lord of the Mountain into his own Illusion Realm.
Thinking this, he suddenly spoke softly to Lu Jinghong behind him, "Don’t be afraid. Stay close to me."
