Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse
Chapter 5884: THE King I
Inside a serene and glorious dream.
Noah sat at the end of the dock beside his mother, in plain human skin and white robes, with his feet over the water and a cheap wooden pole in his hands. Seo-yeon lay on her stomach next to them with her chin on her fists, glaring at her line as she had caught nothing this whole time, Amelia making the dream very, very realistic.
“You’re holding it wrong,” Amelia said, her eyes on the water.
“I’m holding it fine! I did it exactly like you, Nana!”
Noah’s mother couldn’t help but smile at being called Nana.
Noah looked at this serene scene as he felt gus existence settling.
Out past the farms and the shore and the edge of the dream, Noah could feel his whole Dream holding steady. Every Dimension he had changed sat quietly where he had put it, the Gaps lay calm, and his three Infinities hummed low and even. It felt like a table with all four legs on the floor.

Stability: rising.
Seo-yeon’s line jerked at this time.
She shrieked and hauled up a silver fish about as long as her hand, and Amelia laughed so hard she had to put down her own pole.
At such a time…
Then the water went still!
Something heavy had touched the far edge of his Dream, like a hand laid flat across the sky. His smile stayed where it was, but his eyes went somewhere else, and he stood up.
Amelia looked at him for a moment. A mother knows when her son’s attention has gone somewhere far away.
“I’ll be back,” Noah said.
“Mmm, go on,” Amelia said gently. “We will always wait.”
He left the dream. The white robes faded from his shoulders as his night-sky skin returned, with its blue-gold constellations, his horns of light, and the frost along his jaw, and he opened his eyes light years above THE Legacy of THE Acharya.
Below him, the Legacy’s Dimensions turned slowly in the dark like a ring of lamps. Above it, a hand was appearing!
It was made of haze and light, and it was so large that one finger was wider than a whole Dimension. It spread across the sky over the Legacy, palm down, and it did nothing at all except hang there. That was the terrifying part. Every Dimension below began to tremble on its edges, the heavy snow stopped falling and hung in the air, and the Conduits shook, as if the palm only had to close to end everything underneath it.
The Immense Ones of the Legacy came out to meet it! They rose into the sky one after another, then by the hundreds, their Immensities flaring bright, but nobody attacked. Their faces were grim and their eyes were calm, because every one of them could feel what the hand carried: a weight nobody could argue with, heavier than even their oldest Ancients had ever carried!
A heavy voice boomed down out of the hand!
”Before this Cycle learned its own name, there stood an architect whose crown was forged from nine billion collapsed Dimensions. He had tremendous wisdom. He was so vast that whole clusters of Dimensions settled in the folds of his cloak like dust, and his reasoning was sharp enough to carve unbreakable laws into the ground of existence. He looked out over everything, felt how much power he carried, and decided that being only an actor on the stage was beneath him. He wished to become the floor, the ceiling, and the breath between the words. He reached out with an open hand to lay claim to Existence itself.”
The whole sky seemed to hold still.
”Do you know what answered his ambition?”
”Only silence. Existence stayed exactly as it had always been, heavy and unmoved, and his own claim crushed him where he stood, because it could not hold. His authority turned to slag. His foundation crumbled into cold ash in a single breath, hollowed out by the very weight he tried to command. Ages of brilliance burned away in an instant, and all that remained was an empty spot that Existence soon forgot.”
”I tell you this to mark your limits. You know who you are, and what lines you have crossed. This is me being magnanimous as a senior and not eradicating yet another promising thing in existence. “
”There are pursuits the void will tolerate. Go and be like the others. Spread your Narrative across Existence if you wish. Weave your epics across gigaparsecs, build your monuments, and grow your Immensity until Dimensions shake beneath your steps. Devour your rivals and feast on their borrowed Causes until you are full. The board allows such vanity.”
”But hear this warning, and press it deep into your existence: laying claim to Existence at this time is unwise. Play the sovereign among the lesser lights if it flatters your pride. Do not try to claim Existence itself, or you will learn how quickly an uncaring void can put out a burning spark.”
…!
The hand held still. Its haze began to spread, flowing out from the palm as a hazy aurora of brilliance that rolled across the whole Legacy like a cloud, and past its edges, down onto the nearby lands of Lucy’s Legacy. Everything under it understood that the power above could crush every Dimension below if it chose to.
It was a warning!
The hazy palm faded, finger by finger, until it was gone. But the baleful aurora stayed!
Noah looked up at it and kept his head raised. The weight came down with the glow and found only his small true room, and slid past. He stood there, one small figure under an enormous sky, and his eyes were bright and angry and calm!
Far below, at the edge of Lucy’s Legacy where the glow reached, Moriarty and others looked up with grim faces, and the whole Legacy went quiet beneath the light.
The words had been meant for him, and Noah knew exactly which lines he had crossed!
