Chapter 3912: Choices! III
Chapter 3912: Choices! III
Royal Origin Calypso stepped forward, the radiance of her form diffusing across the battlefield like a balm over open wounds.
Where her bare feet touched the twisted foldscape, the strands of reality shimmered, weaving themselves back together in gentle pulses of violet-gold light.
With a single flick of her finger, the decaying Origin of Vorellion was stilled. His unraveling ceased. The rhythm of his ancient purpose resumed, however feebly.
Her eyes swept across the field. Altheon. Shaynara. And Bob.
She lingered on the latter with the faintest spark of interest, then turned her gaze outward.
The battlefield was ruin. But not in the traditional sense of ash and flame. No, the deaths of Living Origins birthed a different kind of aftermath.
In their place stood crystallized echo-groves of trees with translucent leaves humming with fractured memory, roots that tangled through the fold beneath them, feeding on the echoes of unfinished beginnings.
White mist bled from them, curling into runes that could never be read twice the same way. And above each grove floated a single radiant sphere- the final beat of the Origin who had died, still pulsing in search of the purpose it was never allowed to complete!𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Calypso exhaled a long breath. "What a bloody waste."
She looked up then, eyes falling upon Honored Gold, who remained elevated above the field, unmoved and unworried. Dozens of Living Paradoxes floated around him like silent stars in orbit. Their forms flickered in and out of clarity, their Authority humming together in deep synchrony.
Paradoxes had purposefully come together.
And what happened...when Paradoxes came together?!
Calypso whistled.
"I haven’t seen a Tower of Inevitability in a while. Did I really scare you that badly?"
WAA!
Honored Gold said nothing. He didn’t need to. His silence was a blade. Cold. Surgical. His aura, merged with the Prime and normal Paradoxes around him, pulsed in deliberate waves, each one drawing in paradoxical authority!
They were summoning it.
They wanted an Inevitability!
Calypso tilted her head, a smile playing at the edges of her lips.
"If I had come alone," she said sweetly, "this might have actually gotten troublesome."
She lifted one hand into the air and pointed up.
"Thankfully...I invited a friend."
The shift was immediate.
Honored Gold’s expression, previously etched in stone, cracked. His eyes flicked upward.
The Fold above them split open.
Out of the tear, a woman descended.
Or rather, she fell. Headfirst. Her body suspended upside down as though gravity had forgotten its place in the conversation. Long dark hair spilled out around her like unraveling ink across a blank page. Her skin was pale, flawless. Her features were delicate, almost too symmetrical to be natural, framed by the luminous white robe that hugged her form without ever actually touching her.
She smiled.
A bright, dangerous smile.
The aura she emanated struck silence into the battlefield.
Because it was not Living Origin Authority nor Living Paradoxical Authority!
It was...
Living Law!
A Living Law!
Unlike any other presence on the field, hers wasn’t oppressive through weight. It was clarity sharpened into a command- the promise that things would be as she declared.
She hovered midair, still upside down, spinning slowly as her eyes glinted with power.
"I was told a treasure of the Living Laws had ended up coming from this delightful little dump," she said. Her voice was light, lilting, far too amused. "Which was, if I’m not mistaken... your finding, Little Altheon?"
...!
Altheon flinched and nodded.
The Living Law spun once more, flipping upright in the blink of an eye. Her smile deepened as she focused on Altheon.
"You give my dear Calypso here some good news- which she still refuses to share with me- and then send me a child repeating that he only wants peace from these folds. And yet..."
She opened her arms wide to the carnage.
"Here you are. In the middle of everything. Just what recent entanglements have you gotten yourself into, Altheon?"
...!
Altheon offered no reply to such a question as he truly could not say much!
"My great friend," Calypso said, stepping beside her. "Royal Law Tristesse. Should we not address the... thing?"
She gestured up.
At the peak of Honored Gold’s golden Tower, something was emerging.
A Transcendent Inevitability.
Tentacles stretched out from the forming monstrosity- multicolored, pulsing with contradiction and hunger. Each tendril sang a note of entropy. The sound alone warped the space around it. The air bled. The folds frayed!
Tristesse glanced at it, then at Honored Gold.
"You Paradoxes never change. Always calling forth things you think you can contain."
"We are the ones most affected by Inevitabilities," Honored Gold replied. "You wouldn’t understand."
She shook her head.
"If you say so... you ugly fuck."
Her smile vanished.
In the next instant, her face turned fierce, and cold.
HUUM.
A silver tower erupted behind her.
Living Law Authority surged across the battlefield in the next moment!
"Living Paradoxical Authority," she declared, her voice reverberating as if etched directly into reality, "will not work in these folds for the next minute."
The moment the words left her lips, they became.
The folds accepted them.
Reality bent to follow.
Dozens of Living Paradoxes blinked in confusion. Their Authority dimmed. Their bodies flickered!
Above them, the Inevitability shrieked as it fully formed, its thousand tendrils unfurling like a flower of madness.
Tristesse looked down at them, her voice now a solemn melody.
"Little Paradoxes... do you know what Law is?"
She paused. Let silence fill the space.
"Law...is the formal expression of rational will. But here, it is more than that. It is a directive of purpose, not suggestion. It is reality’s spine, and I am its marrow. When I speak, existence recalibrates. When I declare, contradiction bows. That is Law."
She gazed down at the trembling Paradoxes.
"So... if I have laid down the law that you cannot use your Authority..."
Her eyes narrowed.
"How will you run from the Inevitability you called out yourselves?"
HUUM!
Panic erupted.
Paradoxes scattered. With no Authority to shield them, they fled with their bare existences, trying to escape the oncoming collapse.
Only Honored Gold remained still. Wings unfurled. Eyes burning.
He stared coldly into the growing chaos.
And above, the Inevitability screamed.
A thousand tentacles lashed out.
They devoured everything as just because it came from Living Paradoxes did not mean that it would not target them!
And amidst it all, in the eye of disorder, there was one who moved unseen.
Bob.
Quiet.
Solitary, and still.
He was....
Absorbing.
Drawing in the scattered remnants of the slain Living Origins.
And from within him, something unfathomable pulsed with glee as a shielded Inevitability cheered at the ongoing chaos!
