Chapter 195 - 163: Elemental King
Chapter 195: Chapter 163: Elemental King
Zhang Ji still remembered that back when he played the game, these things sold for a hundred thousand Origin Coins each.
’Now isn’t the time to be farming materials. I’ll find the Elemental King first. Once I have the Cosmic Four Source Attraction, I can come back and take my time farming.’
Zhang Ji put away the elemental crystal and sent his Spirit particles probing outward with all his might. His body transformed into a bolt of lightning as he sped forward.
He moved so fast that none of the numerous elemental lifeforms along the way could keep up.
Many elemental lifeforms, driven by an instinctual curiosity to approach him, could only manage to launch attacks from a great distance. Before the attacks could even reach Zhang Ji, he had already vanished without a trace.
About ten minutes later, a peculiar landscape appeared before Zhang Ji.
It was a frozen Snow Mountain with rivers of magma flowing beneath it. Howling gales whipped up blizzards that swirled around its peaks.
Zhang Ji could feel a vast spiritual fluctuation emanating from the mountain.
There was no mistake. The entire mountain was the external shell of an elemental lifeform.
The Wind Element cooled the Water Element, forming the snow and glaciers that covered its body. The Fire Element was its blood, and the Earth Element formed the body that supported everything.
This was the Elemental King.
An A+ rank boss that was well beyond standard specifications.
After the S-rank martial artist who had tried to create a Domain within his body died, his immense, scattered Spirit particles merged with the elements of his Domain, giving birth to this unconventional lifeform that unified the Four Elements.
However, its consciousness was muddled. It possessed no intelligence, only instinct, so it was hard to say whether it could be considered a reincarnation of that martial artist.
One thing, however, was certain: its elemental Crystal Core contained information on many of that martial artist’s techniques. Although most of the other techniques were recorded in fragmented data, the information for the martial art Cosmic Four Source Attraction remained perfectly intact, seemingly because the associated memories were too important. This information could be read and learned using Spirit particles.
"Let’s fight!"
Zhang Ji had no intention of opening with a sneak attack or an ultimate move. Instead, he released a vast wave of Spirit particles, broadcasting his will to fight to the enormous mountain.
The moment it sensed Zhang Ji’s immense battle intent, the mountain responded.
The slumbering Elemental King awoke.
RUMBLE!
The mountain range tore itself from the earth. Magma spilled forth, and wind and snow scattered as a giant, nearly two thousand meters tall, rose to its feet.
It was towering, magnificent, and utterly breathtaking.
This was a completely different beast from the one Zhang Ji had seen in the game.
The sight of Zhang Ji’s minuscule body facing off against it was incredibly jarring.
But if one could perceive the spiritual plane, they would discover that their spiritual strengths were, astonishingly, on par with one another.
After a moment of silence, Zhang Ji made the first move, shattering the peace.
A bolt of lightning tore through the air, closing the distance to the giant at incredible speed.
Then came a heavy punch.
BANG! RUMBLE!
Holding nothing back, he used Half-Elementalization to dash forward at supersonic speed. A massive amount of Qi converged through his Qi Veins and was unleashed in that single punch.
BAM!
In an instant, the majority of the elemental giant’s body was blasted to pieces.
But just as quickly, the shattered pieces converged and reformed its body.
And its combat instincts were activated.
THUD-THUD-THUD-THUD!
The earth trembled as stone pillars erupted toward the sky, cutting off Zhang Ji’s paths of movement.
The giant threw a punch, its arm wreathed in wind and snow, coated in magma and frost. Simultaneously, violent air currents formed chains that coiled toward Zhang Ji.
Even Zhang Ji’s Half-Elementalized body was slowed slightly.
But he was fearless. His figure flickered, and he spun around to throw another punch.
It collided head-on with the giant’s fist.
CRACK!
BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!
Elemental energy erupted. Zhang Ji’s own flesh and blood disintegrated, while the elemental giant’s body was once again blasted apart.
The True Solar Flame and Celestial Silkworm Origin surged within Zhang Ji. His Spirit particles pulled his disintegrated flesh and blood back together, and he was soon fully healed.
The elemental giant’s body also recovered rapidly with a surge of elemental energy.
An equal match. A worthy opponent.
For once, Zhang Ji was starting to get excited.
CRACK!
RUMBLE!
CRACK!
CRACK!
He smashed apart countless stone pillars that were guided by air currents to fly at him. The Water and Wind Elements combined to form innumerable ice blades harder than steel, which he also shattered with his physical body as they sliced toward him.
When the Earth and Fire Elements combined, magma spewed forth. Zhang Ji transformed into the Fire Element, rendering the scorching heat unable to harm him. In fact, it even replenished his energy. He easily withstood the restraints and crushing pressure created by the Earth Element.
Water and Fire converged to create explosions. Wind, Earth, and Fire combined to form a kind of even harder metallic substance for defense...
The elemental giant was demonstrating to Zhang Ji a wide array of martial techniques derived from the various transformations, combinations, and evolutions of the Four Elements.
Zhang Ji was also benefiting immensely.
The Four Elements can create heaven and earth and evolve worlds; they inherently contain infinite variations.
When used well, their power was far more than the simple, superficial property changes of the four base elements.
CRACK! RUMBLE!
Zhang Ji once again shattered the elemental giant’s defenses and its body. This time, his own body did not disintegrate as severely.
He had actually improved during the course of the battle.
His control over his own body had improved. He could now somewhat manage even those powerful, life-risking moves that other martial artists would consider do-or-die attacks, thus reducing the self-inflicted damage.
As the Elemental King’s body began to re-form, Zhang Ji saw the massive elemental core in its chest.
’There is nothing beyond the mind. I alone am supreme!’
In that instant, Zhang Ji’s spiritual state transformed. A supreme, empty state of Void Clarity Mind manifested. Everything around him was affected by this spiritual shift, and the very particles of his own body grew unstable.
Nearly eighty percent of the Qi in his body was mobilized, surging from his Qi Veins to converge, ready to be unleashed in a single, devastating attack.
The Elemental King, in turn, sensed a fatal danger. For the first time, its Four Elements began to converge.
It unleashed a junior version of the Cosmic Four Source Attraction.
The Four Elements fused and compressed in front of it, and at their very core, a sliver of dark purple light appeared.
Then, Zhang Ji struck.
A truly colossal amount of Qi, combined with his Spirit, crashed down upon the massive elemental giant before him.
The dark purple light was triggered in response, and it instantly detonated.
The Chaos Energy created by the convergence of the four sources set off a chain reaction, detonating the various elements in the surrounding environment. Zhang Ji was engulfed in the explosion.
An infinite amount of matter was instantly annihilated.
Perhaps it was only an instant, or perhaps a long time had passed.
When it was all over, Zhang Ji was wreathed in the True Solar Flame, his right leg already regrowing.
In a radius of over thirty li around him, the land had been flattened.
And before him stood a giant lotus-shaped mountain, over two thousand meters tall.
The lotus was sculpted entirely from stone. On its petals, one could faintly discern patterns of frost and crimson magma. At the center of the flower was a "Lotus Seed" a full five meters in diameter, radiating a four-colored light.
The Elemental King was certainly powerful, even capable of using a junior version of the Cosmic Four Source Attraction.
But it didn’t have as much health as Zhang Ji, and its defense was nowhere near as strong.
Zhang Ji could take a hit from the junior version of the Cosmic Four Source Attraction and survive, but the Elemental King could not. A single, full-power blow from his "I Alone Am Supreme" would instantly obliterate its spirit and destroy its physical body, killing it on the spot!
Not that Zhang Ji had gotten off easy.
His Celestial Silkworm Origin was completely depleted, his True Solar Flame had dimmed considerably, the Qi in his body was nearly bottomed out, and his Spirit was severely drained.
’Soloing a raid is pretty exhausting.’
Zhang Ji grumbled to himself, then flew toward the elemental core in the center of the lotus.
