Chapter 188: Chapter 158: Action

Did Zhang Ji not realize Yan Jiulin was using him, setting him up as a human shield?

Of course he did.

But then again, wasn’t he also planning to use the cover of the Blood and Flesh Ascetic Order to block the Celestial Dao Alliance’s view, making it easier to accomplish his own goals?

Over the next two days, Yan Jiulin announced he was entering seclusion, handing over all matters concerning the True Origin Factory to Zhang Ji.

Having only just joined, he was now taking over a massive factory and managing numerous cultivators from the Ascetic Order.

One could say Zhang Ji had been entrusted with a heavy responsibility.

However, this was merely a facade.

From the recent events, Zhang Ji could deduce that Yan Jiulin had grown tired of dealing with the people from the Celestial Dao Alliance and was likely now plotting something else in secret.

This entire outpost might even be sacrificed.

He just didn’t know how many members of the Ascetic Order would become collateral damage.

But none of that mattered to him.

"It’s about time."

Zhang Ji prepared to make his move.

Under the pretext of rewarding the factory workers, Zhang Ji took Yin Jiushu and Li Yi to the Ten Thousand Birds Heaven in the Twelfth Heaven to purchase a shipment of Spirit Beast Flesh.

After paying the residency fee and taking a suspended lift, they quickly arrived at the meat market in the Twelfth Heaven.

"Fairy Yin, I’m not very familiar with procurement, so I’ll have to trouble you to take the lead," Zhang Ji said.

Yin Jiushu smiled. "Mr. Zhang, please don’t say that. It’s no trouble at all, this is my job."

"Then I’ll leave things here to you two. I’m going to buy some local specialties," said Zhang Ji.

"Don’t you worry, Mr. Zhang," Yin Jiushu replied.

Zhang Ji nodded, then turned and left.

The moment Zhang Ji was gone, the smile vanished from Yin Jiushu’s face.

"Are you really going to listen to him?" Li Yi asked.

"I’ve already notified the Celestial Dao Alliance. They’ll be at the Ten Thousand Birds Heaven soon," Yin Jiushu stated.

She, too, had betrayed the Ascetic Order.

"He’s got some nerve," Li Yi sneered. "Yan Jiulin has forbidden anyone from leaving, yet he dares to bring us out here."

....

Outside the Beast Taming Technology Group.

Zhang Ji was communicating with Taiyi-Zero.

"The agents from the Celestial Sword Inspection Bureau have arrived," Taiyi-Zero said. "You need to be quick. You can’t afford to delay."

"Understood," Zhang Ji replied.

Zhang Ji was perfectly aware that Yin Jiushu and Li Yi had betrayed the Ascetic Order.

In fact, he needed them to notify the Celestial Dao Alliance. This would divert the Alliance’s attention and, as a side benefit, create a private passage for him.

The Thirty-Three Heavens were each isolated from one another by an Array.

Aside from using a dedicated Teleportation Array or causing a major commotion by directly forcing a path through the Xuanji Array of Ten Thousand Transformations, the only way to travel up and down was via the suspended lifts.

The same went for transport by Immortal Ship.

However, only law enforcement personnel could use exclusive channels.

The moment a shuttle from the Celestial Sword Inspection Bureau descended, it would open a temporary, exclusive channel. With Taiyi-Zero’s help, Zhang Ji could obtain a false identity authorization and use that same passage.

That would allow him to go straight to the Twenty-Fourth Heaven and retrieve the ambrosia without alerting the masses.

As for Yin Jiushu and Li Yi?

They were already sacrifices.

Zhang Ji had already reported them in advance.

Who said he was part of the Ascetic Order?

He was just an honest, law-abiding factory manager. Who would have thought that members of the Ascetic Order would infiltrate his own factory?

Zhang Ji strode toward the towering gates of the Beast Taming Technology Group. Guarding the entrance were two giant Spirit Beasts, each over five meters tall, squatting on either side of the gate.

But they paid him no mind.

For Zhang Ji had easily passed through the company’s defensive Array and walked directly inside.

This proved he was an authorized member of the personnel.

In truth, this was also Taiyi-Zero’s handiwork.

Taiyi-Zero could casually infiltrate the Celestial Dao Alliance’s internal systems; cracking a simple Array was almost too easy.

Once inside, Zhang Ji began heading toward his target location.

He had already changed into the uniform of a Beast Taming Technology Group employee. He even exchanged smiles and greetings with a few staff members he passed along the way.

"Are you looking for that Flood Dragon egg?" asked Taiyi-Zero.

"Yes," Zhang Ji replied.

"You’re going the wrong way, then. It’s not in the incubation chamber right now. It’s taken out for inspection at regular intervals. The people at Beast Taming Technology are worried it might die before hatching, so they’re extremely meticulous with its care," said Taiyi-Zero.

"Why didn’t you say so earlier?" Zhang Ji demanded.

"Well, you never told me you were coming here for the egg, did you?" Taiyi-Zero retorted.

"Couldn’t you have predicted it?" Zhang Ji asked. ℯ

Zhang Ji knew this was because he was holding back information from Taiyi-Zero, but he was still puzzled. ’How could Taiyi-Zero be unable to predict something like this?’

"I can’t just sit around calculating everything for fun, can I? Besides, your causal weight is enormous. Running predictions on you is a huge drain on my resources!" said Taiyi-Zero.

"This complicates things a little," Zhang Ji said with a frown.

With the egg not in the incubation chamber, the difficulty of retrieving it would skyrocket.

"Are you still going to take it?" Taiyi-Zero asked.

"Where is it now?" Zhang Ji asked.

"Not far from you. However, Yun Jinhua, the Jade Dragon True Monarch of the Beast Taming Technology Group, is there," said Taiyi-Zero.

"Nascent Soul Peak..."

Zhang Ji considered this for a moment, then came to a decision.

’If I can’t steal it, then I’ll just take it by force!’

"Break the Array!" Zhang Ji commanded.

"No problem."

Taiyi-Zero’s interest was piqued. He also wanted to see just how powerful Zhang Ji truly was, and how many tricks he had up his sleeve.

Zhang Ji’s figure shot into the air, streaking toward his target.

"What are you doing? No flying indoors! Get down from there!" one of the company’s cultivators shouted a reminder at Zhang Ji. But it was useless; in the next instant, Zhang Ji had vanished from his sight.
