Infinite Evolution: Dominating The Apocalypse With My God Tier Items
Chapter 425: Last But The Best
At the same time, while all this was happening, back in the region formerly known as Africa, before the convergence.
In the straits of the region formerly known as Mali, a huge war was happening, the ancient races’ armies targeted this region because it was the heart of the region.
The location in which the Emperor of Heavenly Wealth resided.
The Avians, the Dune Wraiths and the Blightborn formed a formidable army that besieged the human forces 24/7.
A well-equipped fleet of soldiers, giving hell to the human forces daily, though the humans had managed to hold their own up to this point, which was an insane feat in itself.
But something even stranger had been occurring over the past few weeks and it was driving the heads of the three main races of this war nuts!
Out of nowhere their fates had been plagued with an intense surge of misfortune, inverting their fates and causing every little mistake to lead to death.
It was as if the working of fate itself stood against them no matter what they tried to do, it all ended with failure and death.
Every day soldiers dropped like flies, and the population of their race shrank, this curse did not stop at only soldiers, citizens, the innocents and the guilty were all swept along.
Plague after plague afflicting their people, disease and lack following them no matter where they went.
The leaders were really at their wits’ end.
They were proud patriarchs of great races, unlike others they themselves were entities beyond the grade of the awakened rank.
They were seen as deities by their people yet they still remained helpless when they died in flocks.
The situation got even worse today now that the mighty leader of the Avians, the great king Ra, had fallen victim.
It was said that a cultivation defect flared up all of a sudden, causing all his blood and essence to flow in reverse, the influx of destructive power that followed after that was too much for even a being above the awakened rank to contain.
And he was ripped apart from the inside out, a brutal fate that led him to his death!
Today the other two leaders were gathered, in fear, to consult on this exact issue.
It was getting out of hand at this point, to think that even the leader of the Avians, a being that had enough power to wipe out large armies in a blink.
Was brought down just like that...
This was Ra, the same Avian who had promised to make the humans see hell, he was one of the oldest and most primal beings among all the ancient races.
Even Neptune had to treat the king with respect, yet even he couldn’t escape a fate that actively wanted him dead.
"It’s almost like the world itself is actively rejecting our right to life!" the leader of the Blightborn, Pota, deduced, scowling.
Saber, the leader of the Dune Wraiths, remained silent, staring down and lost in thought...
He scowled and spoke up eventually, "At this rate we’ll go extinct before the humans even act."
His words exposed their grim reality.
The two fell silent, alas they understood this but could they even do anything to resist? When the very act of resisting itself could lead them to their deaths.
"Well, that’s how it was meant to be..." a calm whisper rang out...
The two race leaders went stiff all of a sudden, glancing at one another, they knew for sure that voice wasn’t theirs.
"What? Looking for me?" the whispering voice rang again but this time it sounded close, too close.
The two leaders jerked forward, startled, whipping their heads backwards in a fluster, and the sight they saw caused their pupils to constrict and their hearts to skip a beat.
A human!
And not just any human but an emperor!
Standing upright in the distance with his hands clasped behind his back was none other than the regal Mansa Musa.
Decorated from head to toe with heavy luxurious jewellery, his very presence brimming with the luster of wealth.
His dark bronze skin, glistening in the dark, his deep emerald green eyes glowed through the night settling upon the duo in the distance.
"You! Don’t tell me you’re behind this!" Pota, the leader of the Blightborn, cursed!
He saw no other reason this human leader would show himself if the strings of misfortune happening to them were somehow caused by him.
A graceful smile played on Mansa Musa’s lips, "Well, don’t blame me, I felt it would be a waste watching you all die out with the idea that you still had a chance," Mansa Musa relayed with a cold chuckle.
The other two frowned in confusion at his words...
What did he mean?
Mansa Musa saw the confusion on their faces and tilted his head.
"Wait, don’t tell me I will be the one to break the news?"
The other two frowned even harder, finding the human’s demeanor foreboding.
The smile on the Emperor’s lips twisted, as he looked down on the two in the distance.
"You guys really don’t know do you?" Mansa Musa said, chuckling with a pleasant smile pasted on his lips.
This time the duo couldn’t hold back and snapped back in unison, "What are you talking about?!"
The emperor’s smile widened, "Well, I’m talking about the fact that there’s only you two left, of course..."
The emperor’s playful words turned the atmosphere cold...
The two leaders’ eyes bulged, their jaws going slack.
It couldn’t be, right?
This fearful thought ran through their minds, as both quickly activated their distinctly different means of long-range communication.
Their wills flared, all-powerful and at a density awakened beings couldn’t possibly fathom.
Yet Mansa Musa just stood there leisurely, barely reacting.
Both leaders tried and tried again, yet each attempt at communication failed.
The fear of realization sank deep into their psyche, as they stared down at their own trembling hands.
"B-but how!" Pota croaked.
"W-we were only gone for an hour..." Saber muttered in despair, his knees buckling as he dropped to the ground.
Mansa Musa’s palm parted open, and a sword billowing with unfathomable power materialized in his grasp.
With a devious smile still on his lips, he spoke, repeating his earlier words.
"Like I said, it would be a waste to watch you all die thinking you had a chance."
The two race leaders barely responded, the entire population of their people had been wiped out.
Their hopes and ambitions had been crushed, and so had their fighting spirits.
He raised the sword and swung it, releasing a cold streak of light that flowed out of the blade’s edge faster than light.
Space itself seemed to be severed in the wake of the sword light, the wind and essence splitting on passage.
Till it met the heads of the two, flowing irregularly, the Blightborn race leader and the Dune Wraith race leader.
Pota and Saber were slaughtered just like that, their heads plopping to the ground, rolling into the distance as their eyes grew dim.
Mansa Musa smiled dismissing the ancient sword, as he stared at the fading corpses of the two.
"I might be last but it will be grand," he muttered, as a flash of light burst, a system screen unraveling into his view.
