Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 479: Harvesting Hoe
Chapter 479: Chapter 479: Harvesting Hoe
Connor Webb reveled in the feeling of being the center of attention.
"Easy now, easy," he said, slowly waving his hand to quiet the crowd. He then pulled three items from his clothes and placed them on his stall, one by one.
The first item was a dark gold card, about the size of his palm. Its surface was engraved with intricate patterns, and it faintly emanated the Aura of spatial fluctuations.
The second was a chain, pitch-black all over. It was impossible to tell what it was made of, but each link was inscribed with distorted runes, giving it an indescribably eerie feeling.
The third was a hoe.
A perfectly ordinary hoe, with a wooden handle and an iron head. It looked no different from a pre-apocalypse farming tool.
But upon closer inspection, one would notice a faint golden glow on the hoe’s blade, suggesting it wasn’t ordinary iron.
As the three items were laid out, a wave of gasps and exclamations rippled through the crowd.
"That’s our Connor! You can tell that card isn’t some common item just by looking at it!"
"That chain... What kind of item is it?"
"A hoe? What’s a hoe for? Connor, you’re not planning to go farming, are you?"
Connor Webb simply smiled without a word, patting his belly smugly and letting the crowd speculate.
From a distance, Seraphina Sullivan, holding her black cat, unhurriedly drew a few steps closer. Standing at the edge of the crowd and using the people in front of her for cover, she activated her [Analysis Glasses].
Item Identification initiated.
Information on the three items appeared in her vision, one after another.
[Item: Teleportation Card]
[Effect: Upon use, teleports the user and up to five people within a three-meter radius to a random safe zone in the current instance world (relative safety, not absolute). The destination is uncontrollable, with a certain probability of landing in a dangerous area.]
[Note: A Divine Artifact for escaping and saving your life, but also a great tool for screwing over your teammates. Use with caution.]
[Item: Enslavement Chain]
[Effect: When used on a creature of a Level not higher than one’s own, it can apply Binding and forcibly establish a "Master-Servant Contract."
The one bound by the chain will completely obey the holder’s commands. The duration is related to the difference in spiritual power between the two parties.
The greater the difference, the longer the Control time.]
[Note: An evil item. Use with caution. If the controlled target’s spiritual power surpasses the user’s, they may have a chance to break free and retaliate.]
[Item: Harvesting Hoe]
[Effect: When used for farming, it significantly increases crop growth speed and slightly boosts crop yield. It is also effective on mutated plants.]
[Note: A Divine Artifact for the apocalypse farming enthusiast. With this, mommy will never have to worry about me going hungry again.]
After reading everything, Seraphina made a silent assessment:
’The Teleportation Card—useless.’
’Random teleportation is too unreliable. If I end up in a monster’s mouth, it’d be worse than not using it at all.’
’The Enslavement Chain—it’s similar to my [Spirit Mutation Spider Silk], but more domineering and also more dangerous.’
’The target getting a chance to retaliate is too great a risk.’
’But the Harvesting Hoe... now that’s a good item.’
’A truly good item.’
’What’s most precious in the apocalypse?’
’Weapons? Items? Skills? None of them.’
’It’s food, of course.’
With this hoe, farming efficiency would triple, and yields would increase by twenty percent.
This meant that with the same amount of manpower and resources, they could feed far more people.
Any settlement of significant size would treat this thing as a strategic resource.
For Connor Webb to put something like this up for sale, he either didn’t recognize its value or had some other plan in mind.
In the crowd, people had already started asking for prices.
"Connor, how much for the card?"
"The chain! I want the chain! Name your price!"
"That hoe... the hoe looks the most ordinary. Connor, how about you sell it to me for cheap?"
Connor Webb laughed and waved his hand. "Not so fast, not so fast. Good things come to those who wait."
His gaze swept over the crowd as if he were searching for something.
Seraphina keenly caught that look in his eyes.
She’d seen that kind of look before—inside instances, on the faces of Players who were plotting against others.
Connor Webb was looking for a buyer, but not an ordinary one.
He was looking for a target... someone he could make a move on.
The corners of Seraphina’s lips curled up slightly.
’Interesting.’
’Not only did this fatty deliver himself to my doorstep, but he’s also planning to stir up trouble here?’
’Let’s see who’s really stirring up trouble for whom.’
Connor Webb announced, "These three items of mine can only be bartered for with other items."
"Ah, but we don’t have anything to trade with you."
Seraphina, however, had her eyes on the [Harvesting Hoe].
Whatever trick Connor Webb was planning, this item was genuinely useful to her.
She now had the Four Seasons Deer and the Weather Cloud. Paired with this hoe...
It would be a complete farming package. She’d never have to worry about food again.
Of course, she didn’t really have to worry about food anyway, but the Scavenger’s Farm was her most crucial secret.
Only those completely under her control, like Flora and Sean Chandler, could know about it. Seraphina wouldn’t tell anyone else.
’Wait, since I have to deal with Connor Webb eventually anyway,’ Seraphina whispered to the black cat in her arms, "rather than trading for it, why not just...’"
She didn’t finish, but her meaning was obvious.
Sean Chandler let out a lazy "meow." "You’re right. But we obviously can’t make a move here."
Seraphina nodded slightly.
The trading area was too crowded, with too many eyes and ears. Besides, Connor Webb was currently a "guest" of the base’s upper management. Attacking him here would be a public slap in the face to Shawn Gardner.
Not only would she fail to kill Connor Webb, but she would also draw the entire base down on her.
’I’ll have to find another place, another way.’
She withdrew her gaze and continued to observe Connor Webb’s stall from afar.
At that moment, Connor Webb was basking in the crowd’s adoration, but his mind was on other things.
’The Teleportation Card—random teleportation is too unreliable.’
’I’m a man with several lives. If I get teleported to some deathtrap, I won’t have enough sacrificial pawns to cover it.’
’The Enslavement Chain—sounds nice, but compared to my [Harem] Talent, it’s like a child’s toy next to a masterpiece.’
’My Talent gives me an extra life for every "wife" I add. What can this chain do?’
’Control a subordinate?’
’Am I short on subordinates? The wives in my Harem are my subordinates.’
’The Harvesting Hoe—even more useless.’
’The base is taking care of me now. I don’t have to worry about food or clothing. Farming?’
’What’s there to farm?’
’I’m a man of status.’ 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂
’I’ll just sell these things for Contribution Points,’ he thought. ’Anyway, my real prey is that woman with the Healing Skill.’
’Once I get her into my Harem, going into instances will be like having a mobile medical station.’
’What injury couldn’t I heal? What danger couldn’t I withstand?’
’I hope the base moves a little faster,’ he thought, licking his lips as a flicker of greed crossed his eyes.
Just then, a commotion broke out at the edge of the crowd.
Someone exclaimed, "It’s Eugene Jensen from Ironwall! What’s he doing here?"
Seraphina followed the sound with her eyes.
A man carrying a massive shield was walking out from the crowd.
The Shield was almost as tall as he was, pitch-black with a metallic sheen along its edges. One glance was enough to tell it was no ordinary item.
The man had a rugged face, fleshy cheeks, and eyes as sharp as daggers.
Eugene Jensen—the captain of the Ironwall Squad. He was said to be one of the top-ranked defensive experts among the Players in the Central Base.
Before she could get a closer look, someone else cried out, "Simon Lewis from Hound is here too!"
