Chapter 470: Chapter 470: Matthew Dawson is Injured

In another breeding area not far from Seraphina Sullivan’s RV.

Frederick Fuller was frantically packing things up.

"Hurry, hurry! Grab all that data! The water! Don’t forget the water!"

He was drenched in sweat, barking orders as he loaded boxes onto a vehicle.

Autumn Fuller stood to one side, holding a clipboard and checking a supply list.

Suddenly, she felt a drop of water on her face.

She looked up.

And froze.

In the distance, about a few hundred meters away, snow was actually falling over the breeding area belonging to the Four Seasons Deer.

Snow?

With the extreme heat disaster already here?

She took off her glasses, wiped them, and put them back on, confirming she wasn’t seeing things.

It really was snow.

Fine snowflakes stood out with exceptional clarity against the gray, hazy sky.

And around that uniquely shaped RV, the herd of precious, mutated giant deer was lazing in the curtain of snow, enjoying the rare cool air.

"Sister, look! What’s going on over there?"

Frederick Fuller had also noticed the anomaly. He pointed toward Seraphina Sullivan’s RV, his jaw dropped open. "Why is it snowing over there?!"

Autumn Fuller was silent for two seconds, then pushed up her glasses.

Her tone was complicated. "It must be a Player’s Ability. There are plenty of gifted individuals at the Central Base. It’s nothing to be surprised about."

She paused, then added, "But to be able to precisely Control the local weather to this extent... that’s certainly impressive."

"Stop staring and get back to moving!" she urged. "We need to get to the underground area, quickly. If this temperature keeps rising, we won’t survive without a snow-making RV or an Ability like that."

Despite her words, her gaze couldn’t help but drift back to that snowy oasis.

’That herd of Four Seasons Deer...’

’If only I could study them.’

She sighed, tore her eyes away, and threw herself back into the chaotic move.

Meanwhile, in a lavishly decorated private suite on the upper level of the Central Base’s underground area—a room completely out of place with its surroundings.

Megan Soto was hysterically smashing things.

"Where is he?! Where in the world did my brother go?!"

Her shrill voice pierced through the poorly soundproofed walls, making even the Guards standing watch outside flinch.

The decorations on the coffee table were swept to the floor, expensive porcelain shattering everywhere.

Megan Soto’s face was livid and her eyes were red-rimmed, but it was more from fury than grief—fury that the brother who had always obeyed her every word and acted as her enforcer would dare to disappear for so long without so much as a word!

"Find him! Use every connection you have! Just find him for me!"

She roared at her assistant standing nearby.

The assistant stood there, trembling, hesitating to speak.

Everyone knew Ethan Soto was a troublemaker.

’With so many Players having recently arrived at the base, what if he provoked someone he shouldn’t have and was silenced for it?’

But he didn’t dare say that out loud.

He was afraid if he did, the next thing to be smashed would be his own head.

...

Meanwhile, in a small, cramped dormitory on the middle-lower level of the underground area.

Paul Payne was curled up on his narrow bunk, a worn-out notebook spread open before him. It was densely packed with the information he had risked his life to collect over this period.

Connor Webb’s patterns of activity.

The backgrounds and conditions of the "wives" surrounding Connor Webb.

The time and place of a private meeting between Connor Webb and a mid-level cadre from "The Resource Faction."

A "special place" Connor Webb visited weekly—rumor had it that he kept his "Harem" there, along with "servants" he Controlled with his Ability.

Page by page, entry by entry.

It was all evidence of that monster’s crimes, and it was also what kept him alive.

Paul Payne looked up, gazing out the window.

Even in the underground area, he could feel from the faint airflow coming through the ventilation ducts that the temperature outside had reached a terrifying high.

"That person... maybe they can uphold their end of the bargain."

He muttered to himself, clutching the notebook tightly to his chest.

This was his proof of commitment, and his only chance to change his fate.

’Even if I can’t become a Player, as long as I can get my revenge with my own hands...’

’Just having Power is enough.’

He gritted his teeth, climbed out of bed, threw on a jacket, and walked toward the exit leading to the surface.

...

At that same moment, in a residential area of the underground zone.

Three figures appeared at once.

"That was too close... we almost... we almost didn’t make it back..."

Dexter Luther leaned against the Wall, gasping for breath, his heart still pounding wildly.

They had just escaped from the "Giant’s Doom" instance.

It was a terrifying world filled with giants dozens of meters tall, where every step was a dance with death.

They had completed their mission, but it had come at a cost.

"Dexter..." Crystal Lynn’s voice was choked with tears. "Matthew Dawson... Matthew, he’s hurt so badly!"

Dexter Luther whipped his head around, only then getting a clear look at Matthew Dawson, who Crystal Lynn was supporting.

His face was as pale as a sheet, his lips bloodless, and the entire back of his clothing was soaked through with blood that was still seeping out.

He’d been hit by a giant’s final, desperate counterattack—it was just a graze, yet it had left such a horrific wound.

"This is bad!" Dexter Luther’s heart sank. ’That hit from the giant... it must have damaged his internal organs!’

He rushed over, grabbing the swaying Matthew Dawson to steady him.

Matthew Dawson forced his eyes open and glanced at him. His mouth moved, but no sound came out.

"Don’t talk!" Dexter Luther roared. "Just hang in there! I’m taking you to find Sullivan! She has a healing Ability! She can definitely fix you up!"

In that moment, he couldn’t care less about instance rewards or rare items.

There was only one thought in his head: ’Hurry, get him to her. Don’t let him die in front of me.’

Not like Morgan Brooks and Chloe Lewis.

Crystal Lynn gritted her teeth and followed closely behind.

The three of them stumbled and rushed to the exit leading to the surface.

However, a heavy, massive door barred their path.

Beside the door, a Guard in a protective suit spoke, his face devoid of expression. "The underground area’s main gate is about to close.

"From now on, until the designated times, all non-emergency personnel are forbidden from entering or exiting.

"If you want to get back in, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow night—assuming you’re still alive by then."

Dexter Luther was stunned for a moment, then roared, "My brother is dying! We need to go up and find someone to save his life! You won’t let us through for that?!"

The Guard was unmoved, pointing to the warning light overhead. "During this extreme heat disaster, the surface temperature has already surpassed sixty-five degrees and is still rising.

"It’s hell up there right now.

"If you go up, you most likely won’t save him. You’ll just get yourselves killed instead.

"These are the base’s regulations. My hands are tied."

Dexter Luther was about to argue further when Matthew Dawson suddenly coughed, his voice so weak it was almost inaudible. "Don’t... don’t argue... just go..."

Tears immediately streamed down Crystal Lynn’s face.

Seeing this, the Guard at the gate said, "You can go out if you want. But you can only get back in at the designated times. Otherwise, we won’t open the door, not even if you’re dying out there."

"Fine!"
