Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 467: Opening Treasure Chests and Items
Chapter 467: Chapter 467: Opening Treasure Chests and Items
After their return.
The very moment Seraphina Sullivan’s feet touched solid ground.
On the other side of the RV, Space rippled, a tremor barely perceptible to the naked eye.
Sean Chandler’s figure materialized without a sound.
He stood there with no obvious injuries, his clothes mostly intact, but the faint exhaustion in his brow and the bloodshot veins in his eyes betrayed the intensity of his experience in the dungeon.
The moment he saw Seraphina Sullivan, the tension in his shoulders eased slightly.
"You’re back."
He walked over, his voice as calm as ever.
But it held an undercurrent of relief that only Seraphina could detect.
Seraphina looked him up and down, then nodded. "Looks like you’re not missing any arms or legs. Not bad."
The corner of Sean Chandler’s mouth twitched, which served as his response.
He was just about to report on what he had seen and gained from his solo dungeon trip—
"Hold on."
Seraphina raised a hand to cut him off, an unconcealable glimmer of anticipation in her eyes.
"We can talk about our dungeons later. First, let me open my rewards."
As she spoke, she found a place to sit down.
She retrieved two items from her personal Space.
One was an ancient-looking box with gentle, golden patterns radiating from it—a [Treasure Chest].
Her reward for protecting Sharon Lynn.
The other was a dusty, unremarkable-looking box that nonetheless had a faint metallic texture.
The [Disaster Beast Slaying Settlement Treasure Box].
It was awarded based on a comprehensive evaluation of the number and Level of Blight Beasts she had killed in the monster apocalypse dungeon.
The two Treasure Chests sat side-by-side in front of her.
Seraphina stared at them, her eyes filled with both anticipation and a hint of... uncertainty.
She turned her head to look at Sean Chandler, who was standing beside her.
"Um..." She cleared her throat, trying to make her tone sound casual.
"Come a little closer. Stand right next to me. Yeah, right there."
Sean Chandler didn’t understand why, but he obediently took a step forward and stood at Seraphina’s side, less than half a meter away.
Flora Sullivan, watching from the side, couldn’t help but chuckle. She covered her mouth and giggled, "The boss is trying to leech some good luck again!"
Seraphina shot her an annoyed glare but didn’t refute it.
There was nothing she could do about it.
It was no secret that she was cursed with chronically bad luck.
’Back in that awful Zombie Kingdom dungeon, I managed to save up a whole pile of useful items after so much trouble.’
’And what happened? That damned Fiend God destroyed them all!’
The [Guardian God]—gone.
The [Life Leaf Brooch]—shattered.
And of all those other little trinkets, only a few usable ones were left.
Every time she thought about it, Seraphina felt a pang in her chest.
That was her entire nest egg, built up bit by bit!
So this time, she’d learned her lesson.
For something as purely luck-based as opening a Treasure Chest, she had to have the King of Fortune standing guard nearby.
Sean Chandler might not say much, but luck was truly a mystical thing.
That guy went into dungeons like he was taking a stroll in his own backyard, always managing to pick up good stuff on a casual walk-through.
Last time, with the [Wish Treasure Box], she got a pile of random junk. Meanwhile, any single item Sean Chandler got from his was more practical than all of hers combined.
She had to admit defeat.
Seraphina clasped her hands together, bowed reverently to the two Treasure Chests, and muttered, "I’m not asking for anything amazing this time, just something better than last time.
Please don’t give me another pile of junk..."
Flora Sullivan muttered from the side, "Boss, if you beg like that, you might scare the Treasure Chests..."
"Shut up."
Seraphina took a deep breath and reached for the [Treasure Chest] that was glowing with a golden halo.
With a single thought.
The Treasure Chest slowly opened.
A soft, golden halo flowed from the opening, and accompanied by the crisp sound of a system notification, three items appeared one by one in Seraphina’s mental projection—
[Ding! Congratulations, Player! You have obtained the special item: "Weather Cloud"!]
[Ding! Congratulations, Player! You have obtained the team item: "Multi-player Dungeon Card"!]
[Ding! Congratulations, Player! You have obtained the plant seed: "Giant Redwood Seed"!]
The light faded, leaving three distinct items floating quietly.
The first was a fluffy, soft, miniature cloud, pure white with a faint, iridescent glow at its edges. It looked like a piece of cloud snipped from a fairy tale, slowly floating and changing shape.
The second was a dark gold card engraved with ten intertwined human silhouettes. Complex runic patterns flowed along its edges, and it faintly emanated the Aura of spatial fluctuations.
The third was a seed about the size of a fist, deep crimson in color. Its surface was covered in fine, vein-like patterns, and holding it, one could feel a surging Life Energy that was almost overflowing.
"Three items..." Seraphina muttered to herself. ’Three items from the first chest. My luck seems decent?’
But she didn’t check the specific details of the items right away.
Because there was still another Treasure Chest waiting.
The [Disaster Beast Slaying Settlement Treasure Box], the hardcore reward for killing Blight Beasts.
This was the main event, the true test of her luck.
Seraphina took a deep breath and placed her hand on the dusty box with the faint metallic sheen.
"Open."
No hesitation, no prayer, just clean and simple.
The Treasure Chest opened in response—
A light flashed, more intense than before, carrying the iron-tinged Aura of battle and slaughter.
[Ding! Congratulations, Player! You have obtained Skill Upgrade Card x3!]
[Ding! Congratulations, Player! You have obtained the Skill Book: "Spirit Defense"!]
Two types of rewards fell into her hands.
There were three silver-white cards, each emitting a gentle wave of Energy. They were the [Skill Upgrade Cards] she was familiar with.
They could be used to raise the Level or improve the Effect of existing Skills.
There was also a thin Skill Book with a deep purple cover that seemed to have a faint light flowing within it. Written on it were two words—
Spirit Defense.
And then... that was it.
Seraphina held these two rewards, staring at the now-empty Treasure Chest, and fell silent for a full three seconds.
"Only... two types?"
She turned her head to look at the impassive Sean Chandler standing beside her.
Her gaze was filled with a complex mix of emotions: disbelief, grievance, a resentful ’Aren’t you the King of Fortune? Why didn’t it work?’ and even a faint hint of self-doubt.
Sean Chandler met her gaze, fell silent for a rare two seconds, and then emotionlessly looked away.
The meaning was clear: ’Don’t look at me. This has nothing to do with me.’
’Fine, two types it is.’
Seraphina began to inspect her newly acquired items and Skills one by one.
She looked at the first one.
[Item: Weather Cloud]
[Type: Special Support/Environmental Control]
[Effect One: Weather Change] Can be actively used once per day to create a special weather condition in a small area.
Selectable weather types include: light rain, light snow, thin fog, gentle breeze, and clear skies.
The weather’s duration is related to the user’s spiritual power, lasting up to 24 hours.
This Effect can be used for various tactical purposes, such as improving planting conditions, obstructing enemy lines of sight, or concealing one’s tracks.
[Effect Two: Thundercloud] The Weather Cloud can be commanded to instantly transform into a "Thundercloud," concentrating the electrical charge within it to launch a lightning strike at a designated target.
