Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 432: Plotting Out Loud, Flora Sullivan’s Sneak Attack
Chapter 432: Chapter 432: Plotting Out Loud, Flora Sullivan’s Sneak Attack
But Dylan Kane didn’t immediately get carried away.
"These people... are the ones that kid, Ethan Soto, specifically wants taken care of?
And his sister, Megan Soto—what did she promise?"
Dylan Kane asked, his voice deep and hoarse.
"That’s right!" another one of his men chimed in.
"Mr. Soto is spoiled rotten by his sister. He took a hit and just can’t stomach it.
Ms. Megan Soto has put out the word that whoever can teach these newcomers a lesson...
...especially making the man who injured Mr. Soto and that young girl in charge pay the price...
...she’s willing to provide a quota of scarce supplies and even put in a good word with the committee.
And..."
The man lowered his voice. "She also hinted that as long as it’s done cleanly, without leaving any obvious loose ends, she’ll take care of all the consequences."
Dylan Kane’s brow furrowed slightly. "Make a move inside the Base?
You all know the rules!
Especially during a sensitive time like this. The break from the cataclysms just ended, and the higher-ups are cracking down hard.
If something goes wrong, who’s going to take the fall?"
The sharp-jawed man who had spoken first snickered.
He carefully pulled a card from inside his shirt and held it out to Dylan Kane. It had a metallic sheen and intricate patterns along its edges.
"Rest assured! Ms. Soto has already thought of that.
This is a ’Space Transmission Card,’ a rare item from a special dungeon.
When used, it teleports the selected people to a designated area to fight."
Dylan Kane took the card and carefully felt the faint Aura of power contained within, confirming it was the real deal.
The last trace of hesitation in his eyes vanished, replaced by ruthlessness and resolve.
He could get the generous reward Megan Soto promised and have a chance to claim that mutant giant deer with its limitless potential—killing two birds with one stone!
The risks were there, but the potential payoff was more than enough to tempt him.
"Alright!"
Dylan Kane put the card away and clenched his fist, his knuckles popping loudly.
"I’ll take the job! Go, get the boys. Tell them to grab their gear. We’re going to pay our new neighbors a little visit.
Remember, we’ll be polite at first. The targets are the deer, the little brat in charge, and the guy who threw the punch.
As for the others... try not to kill them. Leave them for Mr. Soto to blow off some steam."
"Yes, Boss!" his men replied excitedly, their eyes glinting with bloodlust.
However, what Dylan Kane and his men thought was a secret meeting, held in the open and relatively quiet livestock area, was anything but.
With Flora Sullivan’s keen senses as a plant-based supernatural being...
...they might as well have been shouting their plans from the rooftops.
Just as they finalized their plan and were about to quietly disperse to gather their men and gear...
...a strange, paralyzing sensation shot up from their ankles, instantly spreading through their entire bodies!
"Huh?! What’s going on?"
One of the men had just cried out in alarm when he found his body going rigid. He couldn’t take a step, and even turning his neck became incredibly difficult.
"Dammit! It’s a trap!"
Another henchman’s voice was filled with panic.
Dylan Kane’s pupils contracted. Alarm bells screamed in his mind.
He tried to mobilize the Beast Taming Power from his contract to break free.
But he discovered that it wasn’t just his muscles that were stiff; even the flow of Energy within his body was being obstructed by some viscous, paralyzing Power!
"When?! Who is it?!"
He looked down and saw that countless emerald-green vines, as fine as hairs yet incredibly tough, had sprouted from the solid earth beneath his feet.
Like living vipers, these vines had silently coiled around each of their ankles and calves and were still creeping upward, their tips glinting with a faint, dark green light.
"Are you serious...? You’re really going to plot your shady little schemes out in the open, right next to where people are resting?"
A clear female voice, thick with disbelief and contempt, rang out.
Flora Sullivan stood nearby with her hands on her hips, watching Dylan Kane and his men, who were bound by the vines and unable to move.
The expression on her face clearly screamed, ’Are you guys idiots?’
A portion of her hair had transformed into flowing, emerald-green strands that connected to the ground like a root system. Clearly, the vines were her handiwork.
Dylan Kane struggled to move his Eyes. When he saw Flora Sullivan’s discolored hair and the Energy roots connecting it to the ground, he understood everything.
’This supposedly harmless woman was behind it all!’
’Her Ability could actually Control plants with such stealth to paralyze them!’
"Th-this... Miss, you’ve misunderstood!" Dylan Kane said, forcing a calm he didn’t feel. He tried to argue his way out of it, but his voice was strained from the paralysis.
"We... we were just passing by, discussing something else. We hadn’t decided if we were... if we were going to do anything to you guys," he added, making a last-ditch effort.
Flora Sullivan rolled her eyes, looking at him as if he were a three-year-old. "Discussing how to steal my Deerie and how to deal with my boss and Chandler?" she retorted, cutting right through his lies.
"You ’hadn’t decided’? Your decision is written all over your faces!"
Dylan Kane’s heart sank. He knew he couldn’t bluff his way out of this.
But he still wanted to grasp at any chance of survival, so he blustered, "Listen here, little girl, this is the Central Base!
You dare attack people inside the Base?
Aren’t you afraid the Enforcement Squad will arrest you and revoke your residency status?"
Flora Sullivan tilted her head as if seriously considering it, then sighed. "You’re right. Killing you all here would be a bit of a hassle. I’d have to revert to my original form to eat you..."
Dylan Kane: ???
’Eat us? What does she mean, eat us?’
But Flora Sullivan’s next words made his blood run cold. "So, I’ll just leave it for the boss to handle!"
The words had barely left her mouth when more vines erupted from the earth. Like nimble tentacles, they instantly wrapped Dylan Kane and his men up into tight, green cocoons.
Only their heads were left exposed. The paralyzing toxin on the vines made it impossible for them to even struggle.
Then, to the utter horror of Dylan Kane and his men, Flora Sullivan used her hair to bundle them together and began dragging them toward the RV as if they were nothing more than a few logs of firewood.
"Boss, Boss! I caught some guys who were up to no good!"
Flora Sullivan called out while still a ways off.
Seraphina Sullivan was hugging Tubbs, the big, fat fire turkey. The warmth from its body was doing wonders to ease her monthly discomfort, and thanks to her Clean Bubble Skill, she didn’t have to worry about getting burned.
Hearing the commotion, she came outside.
There she saw Flora Sullivan dragging over several men bound tightly in vines, only their terrified heads visible.
After listening to Flora Sullivan’s simple and clear report—which was mostly a summary of the "conspiracy" she had overheard—Seraphina Sullivan showed no surprise, merely stroking her chin thoughtfully.
’Ethan Soto’s retaliation? So soon, and he’s using others to do his dirty work...’ she muttered to herself, her gaze falling on Dylan Kane, who was bound the tightest and was clearly the leader.
’Now, what should I do with them?’ Seraphina seemed to be giving it serious thought.
