Chapter 376: Chapter 376: Upgrade: Demon Eyes Talent

Seraphina Sullivan contemplated how to upgrade.

Her thoughts turned to the Space of her [Scavenger’s Farm] Talent.

’But in a way, I already have parts of both of those functions,’ she thought.

The Scavenger’s Farm wasn’t just for living; it could also store a massive amount of supplies.

She could even do some simple planting and animal husbandry there.

In a sense, it was already a huge, functional "Folded Space."

The "mobile tiny home" option for the Vehicle Evolution Card overlapped with its purpose.

Perhaps the tiny home would be more comfortable, but the Scavenger’s Farm was also becoming more and more livable thanks to all the things Seraphina had hoarded.

At this stage, facing an unknown evacuation route and potential threats, survival and defense were clearly the higher priorities.

’The Scavenger’s Farm can serve as my logistics base and supply warehouse, and the RV’s interior space is sufficient for now.

But defense... is always number one.

No one knows what we’ll encounter on the way to the Central Safe Zone.

When the Peace Period ends in a month, God knows what other terrifying disasters will emerge.’

’So, the answer is obvious.’

Seraphina’s gaze was resolute.

"I choose—Option One: Fortress Upgrade (Steel Fortress)!"

A sturdier, safer mobile fortress that could better protect her and her companions was the most urgent need right now.

Only with strong defenses could she gain a firm foothold amidst all sorts of sudden crises.

Only then would she have the chance to consider comfort and other needs.

Having made up her mind, Seraphina no longer hesitated.

Of course, she wasn’t the only one who had received compensation.

’Maybe I should ask Sean Chandler. If his compensation is also a Vehicle Evolution Card, we might be able to use it again.’

She took out the golden [Vehicle Evolution Card].

Following the instructions, she pressed the card against the body of the RV she was in, simultaneously focusing her thoughts and selecting the "Fortress Upgrade" option.

The moment the card touched the vehicle’s body, it dissolved into a soft shower of golden light.

Like living quicksand, it rapidly seeped into every corner of the RV.

[Ding! A suitable vehicle (modified RV) has been detected.]

[Vehicle Evolution program initiated... Direction confirmed: Fortress Upgrade.]

[Estimated upgrade time: 15 hours. During the upgrade process, the vehicle will be unusable and immobile, but you may remain inside. Please be prepared.]

The notification sound echoed in her mind.

The upgrade process was unusually quiet, with no earth-shattering noises or blinding lights.

Seraphina could only feel an extremely faint, rhythmic vibration from the vehicle’s body and the soft "CLICK" sounds of minute structural adjustments.

It was as if countless invisible craftsmen were busily at work, both inside and out.

The RV’s exterior showed no obvious changes for now.

But Seraphina could sense it.

A profound, fundamental reinforcement was silently taking place.

’Fifteen hours... This is the perfect time to rest and take stock.’

Seraphina settled down. Since the vehicle was immobile for the time being, she could focus on her own affairs.

She sat cross-legged, closed her eyes, and began to look inward, carefully inspecting her physical condition.

Although her last memory was of falling unconscious,

Seraphina clearly remembered the tearing pain as her body was rent by the Demon God Will.

She also remembered the strange weakness she felt upon waking, and the faint, gentle stream of Energy that now flowed within her.

’What exactly happened? Who saved me?’

She tried hard to recall, but only fragmented impressions of a warm light and some grand will came to mind.

Puzzled, she opened her long-unseen personal Player panel, hoping to find clues in the data.

[Player: Seraphina Sullivan] (Food God’s Favored)

[Talent: Worker / Magic Cuisine / Crimson Gemstone / Demon Eyes]

[Level: Level 3]

[Skills: Scavenger’s Farm, Quick Sewing, Sweet Fragrance, Bounce, Butcher’s Skill, Bird Manipulation Technique, Singing, Clean Bubble, Magic Scissors, Anesthetic, Flower Therapy, Flame Continuous Punch, Universal Sniper Rifle, Hundred Shots Hundred Hits]

As her eyes swept over the panel, Seraphina first froze, then her expression turned to one of astonishment.

First, there was the Skills section.

The two Skills, [Universal Sniper Rifle] and [Hundred Shots Hundred Hits], were from the [Sniper] Profession in the Zombie Kingdom instance.

They weren’t the result of her choosing one of two options during the instance settlement for her [Worker] Talent.

She had been unconscious at the time and had no right to choose.

Yet now, they were listed side-by-side in her Skills list!

’That’s not right... Being forcibly ejected from the instance should have affected the settlement mechanic for the [Worker] Talent.

Normally, I could only choose one of the skills to bring out with me... Now both of them are right here in my Skills list?’

Seraphina was baffled.

’Could this be... some extra, hidden compensation from the system?’

The theory seemed plausible, but something about it felt a little off.

However, what shocked Seraphina even more was the change to her Talent section!

[Demon Eyes]!

A completely unfamiliar Talent name.

It had abruptly appeared in her list of Talents,

right alongside [Worker], [Magic Cuisine], and [Crimson Gemstone]!

’Demon Eyes? What is this Talent? How do I have this?’

Her mind reeled.

She immediately focused her mind to perceive the specific information of this new Talent.

[Talent: Demon Eyes] (Special / Growth)

[Effect: Your eyes have inherited a portion of the Fiend God’s traits and fragments of its rules.

When activated, your gaze possesses a powerful mental interference Ability.

1. Consciousness Deprivation: By staring at a target, you can forcibly impact, interfere with, or even temporarily strip away their surface consciousness, causing them to fall into a state of confusion, stupor, or brief unconsciousness.

2. Spirit Shattering: You can release a targeted Spirit Shock to directly attack a target’s spiritual core, causing intense pain, a collapse of will, or even spiritual annihilation.

3. Heart-Beguiling Gaze (Locked): ???]

[Note: Transformed from a sliver of the will-source of the Divine Fiend God. This Talent contains the laws of the Demon and has the potential for both conflict and fusion with the host’s original Power system. It must be developed and controlled with caution.]

Reading this detailed and powerful Talent description, Seraphina’s breath caught for a moment!

’This Ability... Isn’t this the exact method the Demon God Will used through Cecilia to attack me?!

The consciousness shock, the Spirit Shattering... It’s identical!’

Boundless confusion flooded her mind.

’But how did this Ability end up with me?!’

Just then, as if a switch in her memory had been flipped,

a blurry yet crucial memory fragment shot up from the depths of her consciousness like a fish startled by a depth charge.

A pillar of warm light, so immense it defied description...

An ancient and majestic, yet faintly familiar and lazy, will...

"...Consider it compensation..."

"...I hope this piece of candy, which contains some of the Fiend God’s traits and rules, can bring you some different luck and changes..."

A crystal-clear piece of candy, shimmering with a magnificent halo, flew into her mouth.
