Chapter 325: Chapter 325: Extreme Temperature Disaster? Worry

If the extreme cold truly ended, the living conditions for everyone on Azure Star would undoubtedly improve a great deal.

But a moment later, her pragmatism reasserted itself.

She frowned slightly. ’The end of the extreme cold and the return of warmer weather is a good thing, of course. But... the apocalypse on Azure Star probably won’t end that easily, will it? Could a new natural disaster appear to replace the extreme cold?’

Hearing Seraphina Sullivan’s words, the joyful look on Justin Brooks’s face faded.

He sighed again and nodded.

"I didn’t expect you to be so perceptive. You’re right. The Player with the precognition Talent also saw a fragment of the more distant future. She predicted that after the extreme cold recedes, the global climate will swing from one extreme to another. Specifically..."

"Extreme heat," Seraphina Sullivan said.

"Exactly! But,"

Justin Brooks quickly adjusted his outlook, his voice firming up.

"Once the extreme cold is over, it at least means the problem of ice-blocked roads will be greatly alleviated. During the transitional period before the extreme heat arrives, we can establish contact with other safe zones and Survivor Bases much faster and build more effective partnerships. The other bases are sure to have many Players with unique Abilities. Once we share resources and technology, we’ll be much stronger and better equipped to face the next disaster."

Seraphina Sullivan nodded in agreement.

’Unity and cooperation are truly essential in the apocalypse.’

"Besides,"

Justin Brooks suddenly looked at Seraphina Sullivan, his gaze holding a profound meaning.

"Your Ability is also very special, Comrade Sullivan."

Seraphina Sullivan’s heart skipped a beat, but her expression remained unchanged.

’Justin Brooks is no fool.’

’He must have had his suspicions ever since I demonstrated that miraculous Suturing Skill.’

’He must have guessed that the one who sutured his severed leg and saved his life after he returned from that instance wasn’t the silent Sean Chandler, but me—the one who’d always acted like an ordinary person.’

’I probably became a Player a long time ago and just did a good job of hiding it.’

’Sean Chandler had always been my cover, which is why Justin initially thought it was all his doing.’

However, Justin Brooks had also observed that Seraphina Sullivan operated with principles. Not only did she refrain from harming others, but she had also stepped in to help on multiple occasions and had even saved his life.

Therefore, he had chosen to let it be, never probing further or exposing her secret.

Now that Seraphina Sullivan was an "official" Player, he had even less reason to say anything.

As they met each other’s gaze now, they both saw a silent, mutual understanding.

They exchanged a smile.

"By the way,"

Justin Brooks switched to a lighter topic.

"Those ’Growth Potatoes’ you provided earlier are working wonders! The plantation reported that both the yield and resilience far exceeded expectations, and they’re incredibly filling. The safe zone was able to roll out relief rations this quickly in no small part thanks to you. I really must thank you properly!"

Seraphina Sullivan smiled, her tone calm. "I’m just glad I could help. It’s the least I could do."

"Well, I’ll let you go then. I still have a lot to do."

Seraphina Sullivan nodded.

People were bustling about everywhere she looked. More and more of them had adapted to this way of life.

They were starting to find their place.

Carrying the weight of the bombshell news from Justin Brooks and a trace of lingering unease, Seraphina Sullivan returned to her RV.

However, the sight that greeted her made her stop in her tracks.

Two unfamiliar men were crouching down, speaking to Freya Lynn, who stood by the RV.

Freya Lynn’s small face was taut with anxiety. The moment she saw Seraphina return, she looked as if she’d found her anchor. She ran over and grabbed tightly onto the hem of Seraphina’s coat.

"Sullivan!"

"What’s going on?"

Seraphina Sullivan moved Freya Lynn behind her, her calm gaze sweeping over the two men.

They looked to be in their early thirties, dressed in plain winter clothes, with expressions of perfectly measured anxiety and concern.

The taller of the two men quickly began to explain, "You must be... Miss Sullivan, right? We came to ask about something. Yesterday, a few of our friends went out on a supply run with Freya’s sister, Crystal Lynn, and Captain Dexter Luther’s squad. They were supposed to be back by last night, but we still haven’t seen any sign of them. We were worried there might have been an accident, so we came to see if Crystal Lynn was back. It looks like she hasn’t returned either..."

The other man chimed in, his tone heavy. "Yeah, my friend is always punctual. Even when he’s run into trouble and been delayed before, he’s never been gone this long. With the ice and snow out there, plus all those rogue Player-thugs who haven’t joined a safe zone and just rob people on the roads... we can’t help but worry!"

Their words succeeded in making the already anxious Freya Lynn even more frightened. The little girl clutched Seraphina’s hand tightly, her small face tilted up, her voice trembling on the verge of tears. "Sullivan, my sister... she’s not... she’s not really in trouble, is she?"

Seraphina gently patted Freya’s head to soothe her, but her gaze never left the two men. ’I’ve already got this figured out.’ As she had approached, she had already quietly scanned them with her [Eye of Resume]:

[Name: Kora Dawson]

[Gender: Male]

[Professional Skills: None]

[Weaknesses: Ordinary person, physically weak.]

[Name: Charlton Jacobs]

[Gender: Male]

[Professional Skills: None]

[Weaknesses: Ordinary person, slow reflexes.]

’Two ordinary people. The information is simple and clear.’

’But their concern doesn’t seem fake.’

"What are your names?" Seraphina Sullivan asked, even though she already knew.

The taller man quickly replied, "My name is Kora Dawson, and this is my friend, Charlton Jacobs. Miss Sullivan, other people from our team are missing too. Everyone’s really worried."

Seraphina Sullivan nodded. Crystal Lynn was with Dexter Luther’s squad, and Sean Chandler had mentioned their team before. She couldn’t just ignore this. "I have friends on that team as well."

She stated simply, then made her decision. "Come with me."

She didn’t make any direct promises. Instead, she led Freya Lynn, Kora Dawson, and Charlton Jacobs toward the trading area that Players had spontaneously set up inside the safe zone.

The place was a chaotic mix of all sorts, which meant information flowed freely. But Seraphina had a more direct target in mind.

Soon, they arrived at the Sterling brothers’ stall.

After Seraphina’s treatment and a period of rest, River Sterling was still a bit weak, but he was already able to help manage their affairs.

Forrest Sterling, meanwhile, was busy sorting through bits of intelligence and small trinkets.

Seeing Seraphina arrive with people in tow, River Sterling immediately put down what he was holding and pushed himself to his feet. "Sullivan, you’re here! Is something wrong?"

"Yes. I’d like to borrow Forrest’s Ability to contact someone and see if they’re safe," Seraphina said, getting straight to the point.

Forrest Sterling came over when he heard this, patting his chest. "No problem, Sullivan! Who do you want to contact? Just give me a name and a general description. As long as I’ve met them, I can send a message. I can even do it on the fourth day."

Seraphina didn’t immediately give him a name. Instead, with a flick of her wrist, she retrieved a delicate vial filled with a glowing, blue liquid from her Space and handed it to Forrest Sterling.

"What’s this...?" Forrest Sterling asked, taking the vial in confusion.
