Infinite Cashback: My God-Tier Cashback System
Chapter 315: The Sun’s in My Eyes
For several seconds, Luca could only stare at Vivienne.
The news had caught him so completely off guard that he struggled to find the right words. His heart pounded, and a strange mixture of excitement and disbelief washed over him.
"Vivienne, you little vixen... Don’t tell me you’re..."
"Mmm."
She met his gaze, her beautiful eyes shimmering with affection.
"My husband, you’re going to be a father. Are you happy?"
She already knew the answer. Still, she wanted to hear him say it himself.
Luca swallowed, his throat suddenly tight. He slipped an arm around her waist, holding her a little more carefully than before, as though he had only just realized how precious she was.
"Of course I’m happy. I’m so happy..."
His voice faltered.
Looking into her eyes, he struggled to keep his emotions in check.
"Vivienne, thank you."
He hadn’t even noticed that his voice had grown thick with emotion.
Their relationship had come a long way from that first encounter at the hotel bar to their reunion at Octaveo Pharmaceutical. Back then, neither of them could have predicted where things would lead. Yet here they were, and the woman standing before him was carrying his child.
It almost didn’t feel real.
Somehow, through all the twists and turns of their lives, they had ended up here together.
Vivienne watched him, her own eyes beginning to redden.
"You’re the CEO of a major group. How can you start crying in public like this?"
She tried to tease him, but the slight tremble in her voice betrayed her feelings.
For all her playful remarks, she was just as overwhelmed as he was.
Ever since that night at the bar when she first met Luca, she had known he was going to turn her life upside down. She simply hadn’t imagined that their relationship would bring them to this point.
Now, with his arms wrapped around her and their child growing inside her, a warmth spread through her chest.
She had never felt quite like this before.
For the first time in a long while, the future no longer seemed like something she needed to worry about. She had someone beside her, someone who would share the burdens ahead rather than leave her to carry them alone.
And that was enough to make her happy.
...
The car pulled away from the airport and merged into the afternoon traffic, passing beneath the shadows of towering buildings as it headed toward the city center.
Inside, Trish had already claimed the seat beside Vivienne.
She leaned closer, resting a hand gently against Vivienne’s lower abdomen. A contented smile spread across her face, as though she could already picture herself doting on the baby.
"Vivienne, how could you keep your pregnancy a secret from all of us?"
Vivienne rolled her eyes.
"I didn’t want to distract your brother. Besides, I thought it would be better to tell him in person. Looks like I made the right decision."
She glanced at Luca, who was still looking at her with an expression that suggested he hadn’t quite recovered from the shock.
"If I hadn’t stopped him just now, he might have burst into tears."
Luca immediately protested.
"I wasn’t going to cry!"
Vivienne gave him a knowing look.
"Of course you weren’t."
Her tone made it clear that she wasn’t buying a word of it.
Luca could only laugh awkwardly.
As much as he hated to admit it, she had a point. He was becoming a recognizable public figure, and if someone had recorded his emotional reaction at the airport, the footage could easily have ended up all over the internet.
He could already imagine the headlines.
SHOCKING! CEO BREAKS DOWN IN TEARS AT AIRPORT. WAS HE DUMPED BY HIS GIRLFRIEND?
Luca grimaced at the thought.
’That would be a disaster.’
He could already picture people inventing all sorts of ridiculous explanations for what had happened.
Meanwhile, Trish was still sulking.
"You could at least have told me first!"
This was her brother’s child! Her own nephew or niece!
How could everyone else have known before she did?
And that wasn’t even the worst part.
The moment she had learned about the pregnancy, she had excitedly announced it in the family group chat, only to discover that Sophie, Arabella, Naomi, and Cecelia already knew.
Every single one of them had kept it from her.
She was the only one left in the dark.
’So much for being part of the family.’
Trish felt as though everyone had deliberately left her out of some elaborate joke.
Vivienne looked at her with mild amusement.
"What’s the difference between telling you and telling your brother?"
"Uh..."
Trish scratched her head.
For all her indignation, she couldn’t come up with a convincing answer.
She knew perfectly well that if Vivienne had told her first, Luca would have found out almost immediately. There was no way she could have kept such a secret from him.
Besides, the timing mattered.
If Vivienne had discovered her pregnancy when the conflict with Maison Premier was escalating, telling Luca then might have put him in a difficult position.
He would have been torn between returning to San Fierro to be with her and staying in Capital City to deal with Vincent Denim.
Vivienne had spared him that dilemma by waiting until he could hear the news in person, without having to make a difficult choice between his responsibilities and his family.
Looking at it that way, Trish had to admit that her decision made sense.
Vivienne had always been good at finding the most practical way to handle a difficult situation.
That didn’t mean Trish had to like being the last to know, though.
She folded her arms and leaned back in her seat, still looking thoroughly displeased.
...
"Vivienne, where are we going?"
Luca glanced out the window, only just realizing that the car wasn’t heading toward the villa.
"The San Fierro Grand. Your mom and dad are already there."
Earlier that day, Mrs. Hale and Mr. Hale had taken Cecelia for a medical checkup. Daisy Kennedy had also undergone her own examination around the same time.
When they learned that Luca would be returning to San Fierro, they decided to gather everyone at the hotel for a family meal.
Luca nodded.
Before he could say anything else, a voice came from the other side of the car.
"Luca, what about me?"
