Looking at the handsome man and beautiful woman standing in front of him, Benjamin Dier’s expression darkened.

Compared to the sons and daughters of Capital City’s truly powerful aristocratic families, he was nothing more than an ant.

But among ordinary working-class people, Benjamin was still considered a highly successful man.

He was a senior corporate executive earning nearly a million dollars a year. He owned a house and a car in Capital City, where property prices were notoriously expensive, and had built a life that many people could only dream of.

Despite his unattractive appearance and oversized head, he’d managed to sleep with quite a few women.

Over the years, he’d used his position to seduce attractive female employees in the company, taking advantage of the authority his position gave him.

He used to boast to his friends about the number of beautiful women he’d been with. That confidence had changed when he met Alani a few days ago.

For the first time, Benjamin realized that the women he’d previously been intimate with were nothing compared to her.

It wasn’t just her natural beauty. There was something else about her, an unmistakable air of refinement and nobility.

She looked like one of those wealthy young heiresses from a television drama. Benjamin had become completely infatuated.

He had even secretly sworn that he would make her his.

What surprised him even more was that Alani had come to his company to discuss a business partnership. As one of the company’s senior executives, Benjamin happened to be responsible for that area.

He saw the opportunity immediately. During their meal, he repeatedly hinted that Alani could use her body as a bargaining chip.

When she refused to play along, he became more direct. Eventually, he even tried to force himself on her in the private room.

That was why she’d fled the room and happened to run into Luca after he left the restroom.

Now, seeing the two of them standing there as though he didn’t even exist, Benjamin’s anger only intensified. Not only had this young man pushed him aside when he’d tried to stop him, but he hadn’t even bothered to apologize.

He had simply ignored him.

How could Benjamin, who had spent years enjoying a position of authority, possibly tolerate such humiliation?

He took two steps forward, gritted his teeth, and sneered.

“Kid, not everyone can play the hero and save the damsel in distress. Before you stick your nose into someone else’s business, you should first consider whether you actually have the ability to back it up.”

Benjamin had noticed Luca’s designer clothes.

But so what?

He could afford designer brands himself.

In his eyes, Luca was probably the son of some relatively successful businessman, nothing more than a minor second-generation rich kid.

He certainly didn’t look like one of the most influential young heirs in Capital City’s upper circles.

And how could someone from a background like that possibly know someone working for a company as small as his?

As for Alani’s beauty, Benjamin didn’t think much of it.

To people at the very top of society, beauty was one of the cheapest things in the world.

At most, Luca was slightly wealthier than the average person.

Perhaps Alani had simply taken a liking to him because he was useful.

Or maybe he was just a pretty fish she’d decided to keep around.

“Oh?” Luca raised an eyebrow. “So you’re saying this fat pig got balls?”

“What did you say?”

Benjamin’s expression changed instantly.

The one thing he hated most was being called fat.

He’d been bullied over his weight throughout his childhood. Things had been especially humiliating in college.

Back then, he’d finally gathered enough courage to confess to a girl he’d secretly liked for years. She rejected him without hesitation.

Less than a week later, she started dating a well-built guy from their class. Benjamin never forgot it.

After graduation, he slowly established himself in Capital City and climbed the corporate ladder.

Year after year, he’d worked his way upward until he finally reached his current position.

Ironically, the same woman who had rejected him eventually came to his company looking for a job after having a child.

Benjamin hadn’t forgotten her.

He took special care of her. Eventually, her husband, who had also been their classmate, discovered the affair. But by then, Benjamin’s position was far different from what it had been in college.

The man didn’t dare confront him.

Benjamin had held power for so long that people had become careful around him.

No one dared call him fat to his face anymore. Yet this young man had not only ruined his plans, he’d pointed at him and called him a fat pig.

How could Benjamin possibly tolerate that?

Enraged, he lunged forward and swung a fist straight at Luca’s face.

He was a gold member of the hotel, so he wasn’t particularly worried about the consequences.

At the critical moment, Luca simply raised a hand.

His fingers closed around Benjamin’s fist with ease.

Benjamin froze.

Before he could react, Luca kicked him hard in the side.

“Ah!”

Benjamin cried out as his body was sent flying nearly two meters, crashing onto the polished floor.

He slid several feet before his back slammed into the corner of the corridor.

The impact left him sprawled on his side, unable to get back up.

Even the slightest movement sent sharp pain shooting through his back and waist.

“You… you dare hit me?”

Benjamin struggled to catch his breath.

“You’re dead! You’re dead! I’ll make you regret this day…”

Before he could finish, a series of hurried footsteps echoed from the far end of the corridor. They grew louder with every passing second.

A man in a suit and tie appeared, his expression grim.

“Benjamin Dier, you actually have the nerve to threaten Mr. Hale? You’re the one who’s dead!”

Benjamin’s expression froze.

He recognized the voice immediately.

Jacob Reynolds, the hotel’s lobby manager.

The two weren’t particularly close, but they had drunk together several times and could at least be considered acquaintances.

Yet Jacob had actually taken the side of an outsider.

Benjamin didn’t believe for a second that Jacob was suddenly choosing justice over friendship.

There could only be one reason. The young man was someone Jacob absolutely couldn’t afford to offend.

Hale. Young. Handsome.

Benjamin’s mind went blank.

‘Could it be… him?’

The realization hit him like a hammer. Cold sweat immediately broke out across his forehead.

Before he could even process what was happening, Jacob walked straight past him. Whatever friendship they had shared meant nothing now.

The lobby manager lifted his size-41 leather shoe and planted it firmly against Benjamin’s size-47 face.

A series of shoe prints were left across his cheek.

Jacob didn’t even hesitate.

At this moment, he had no time to worry about an old drinking buddy.

If Luca felt that the hotel’s response had been even slightly inadequate, Jacob’s position as lobby manager could disappear overnight.

Between himself and Luca, there was no doubt who his boss would choose.

It would be Luca.

“Mr. Hale, I’m terribly sorry.”

Jacob immediately turned toward Luca and bowed.

“Our hotel management failed to handle the situation properly, which resulted in an unpleasant dining experience for you and this lady. I sincerely apologize.”

He straightened slightly before continuing.

“Your entire bill tonight, including your friend’s, will be covered by the hotel. I hope that will be acceptable.”

Luca glanced at Benjamin, who was still lying on the floor.

“That pig isn’t one of yours, is he?”

Jacob immediately shook his head.

“No, no. He’s only a guest.”

He glanced at Benjamin with undisguised disdain.

“But if he has offended you, Mr. Hale, I’ll make sure he’s never allowed into this hotel again.”

The moment Benjamin had provoked Luca, Jacob had already decided to blacklist him. After all, even the once-dominant Maison Premier had fallen because of Luca.

Vincent Denim, who had once stood near the top of Capital City’s social pyramid, was now behind bars. Compared to him, what was a mere executive from a mid-sized company?

Benjamin wasn’t even worth mentioning.

Yet this idiot had not only provoked him, he’d even tried to lay hands on a woman under his protection.

‘You absolute fool.’

Jacob looked at Benjamin coldly.

‘If you want to get yourself killed, that’s your business. Just don’t drag me down with you.’
