….
"Really?" it seems, I am not believed. Offensive.
"You know that females of spiders of some species periodically snack on males? And taking into account your deplorable shape, you won't have time to look back before 'nom', and your head is already torn off!"
"Hic!" oh, he even turned a little gray.
"Ye-e-es," the Pig supported me, "how grateful I am to fate that I became a pig, otherwise Stacy was already beginning to look at me with some strange interest, similar to gastronomic."
"But I..." Gwen stared at us with such a feeling that wow! "But you... Argh! The only one whose head I want to tear off here is him!" a finger was poked at me.
"Yes, I am handsome and women like me," I demonstratively adjust a lock of hair, and the girl just realizes how her words looked in the context that just opened up.
"Argh!" she finally became embarrassed. And damn cutely pouted.
"Okay-okay, I'm shutting up! But now you have the right mood!" I grinned, seeing how the teenagers look at each other in surprise, really having dropped the tension. Well, at least Gwen. I kind of didn't care about the psyche of this homegrown vandal. "Shall we go for the mutant spider?"
"Yes, let's go... and... maybe you'll put me on the ground already?" the guy asked cautiously.
"M-m-m? Oh, yes, of course..." it turned out, all this time I continued to hold him suspended by the scruff of the neck with one hand.
Leaving the heroes, who had been on their feet for two days already, to rest, we headed to the place indicated by the creepy guy in an even creepier suit.
Of course, it wouldn't hurt the kids to rest either, but, as I understood, they have been on their feet only since morning, which for the fighting organisms of mutants, I mean, for the organisms of fighting mutants, is not so much.
Although it won't hurt them to rest either, albeit a little later. But peace won't even be dreamed of by me for now, however, okay, the received knowledge and simply positivity definitely justify it.
At the exit from the house, I threw illusions of normal clothes on the teenagers so that we wouldn't look like a too conspicuous company.
I was, after all, dressed in a decent coat and a three-piece suit, and this didn't go well with the "carnival" outfits of the Spiders, even if now crowds of fans of the local Peter were walking around the city in red masks, thus expressing mourning for the hero.
"Eh?! Gwen, your clothes!.. And mine!.." here the Miles panicked, naturally, being the first to notice the change in the appearance of the girl he was stealthily staring at.
"Oh!" Stacy limited herself in the manifestation of emotions, examining the black fitted coat that appeared on her.
"It's magic, Harry," without turning to them, I explain, stepping out the door.
"My name is Miles!"
"Sometimes I feel so old..." I sigh tiredly, raising my gaze to the dark and cloud-covered heavens. There was, of course, a possibility that there were no books about Harry Potter here, but this didn't diminish my feelings.
"What?" the guy didn't understand.
"Never mind, explaining the meaning of a joke is almost the same as walking down the street in a jacket but without pants. Both shame and disgrace."
"Listen," Gwen caught up with me to walk abreast, "I already understood that you have a glib tongue, but maybe you'll still explain about all this magic and gods?"
"I don't think it's a good idea," I shake my head, finding a bus stop with my eyes. I considered taking MJ's car without asking unseemly, besides we still have to go down into the subway, and it's unknown how long we'll stay there and what will happen to an abandoned car during this time.
"Universes are different, and the nature, as well as the origin of gods in each of them also differ. An explanation of the state of affairs in my universe may be categorically incorrect for yours, and considering your heroic activities, this may backfire on you."
"In what way?" the blonde squinted her left eye uncomprehendingly. "I catch criminals and save people, I don't work in a church."
"Well, you met me, so in your world too you have a chance to meet someone from the gods of your reality. By the way, if you suddenly meet another version of me, stay away," I confidentially warn the girl. "In most universes I am quite a scum."
"I..." Gwen exchanged a surprised look with Morales, "I don't understand something. How do you know about this?"
"I am Loki, I just know such things," I shrug. "By the way, try to stay away from a guy named Deadpool too, he also knows a lot, but he is a psycho."
"Hey! Deadpool is cool!" the Miles objected.
"He is here?"
"Yes! He is a famous superhero, works for the government!"
"Stay away!" I warned Gwen again.
"You don't think I'll just take your word for it like this, when you don't even try to explain?" the blonde skeptically tilted her head to the side.
"In most realities he is a psychotic unprincipled mercenary, constantly striving to arrange a bloodbath, combined with walking a violently insane person. Plus he is an adrenaline maniac, a rapist and a regenerator, who absolutely doesn't give a shit about any body damage."
"That can't be!" the dark-skinned teenager didn't believe, and the girl rounded her eyes too.
"That's why I'm saying that relying on the knowledge of another universe when planning something in yours is a bad idea. They can be kept in mind, but no more. Besides, if in one world Deadpool managed to get a permanent job with Uncle Sam, this doesn't mean that he differs much from other versions, it's just that the government will find a use for such a specialist too, and the excesses simply won't get into the press."
"You contradict yourself," the blonde noted.
"It's just that two topics unfortunately converged. But if you want it more clearly... In my world MJ is a shaggy dark-skinned girl of not the most impressive appearance when compared to other universes, whose full maiden name is not Mary Jane Watson either, but Michelle Jones. At the same time, she is one hundred percent the alter-ego of the local MJ."
"Peter Parker with us is also far from a brave and smart guy, as the ones known to you, and won't get better with age. And so that you completely feel the hellishness of my reality, my Aunt May is a lady 'slightly over thirty' actively looking for a partner. And I told you this only about one family, and how many purely logical differences follow these moments in the further fate of the aforementioned, I think you can guess yourself."
At this moment the bus just drove up, and we were forced to stop communicating.
More precisely, I could have diverted attention from us, but didn't inform them about it.
Arguing with teenagers is not a very useful thing.
If only Gwen were with me, I would, of course, have maintained communication and easily shifted the topic to something more pleasant, but the third wheel was with us, and by his mere presence he broke all hints of romance.
Having reached the subway by public transport, we transferred to a train and soon got off at a station where my civilian outfit looked even more absurd than the Spider-Man mask on a guy growing an afro hairstyle.
In the sense that the station looked little better than a public toilet in Russia in the nineties.
At the same time, the walls in the toilet were cleaner.
At a minimum, there wasn't such an amount of savage cave paintings there.
"It's here," Miles beckoned us to the tunnel from where our train had just left.
"Excellent," I avert the eyes of all accidental witnesses and jump down onto the tracks after the guy. A second later, the girl was also nearby.
