Chapter 132: Chapter 132: The Date

After breakfast, Derrick cleared his plate and stood up from the wooden table.

He helped Rebecca a little in the Kitchen and later trained with Cassandra in the backyard because she wanted to improve as a fighter.

"I will go check on Beth. I haven’t told her about my moving." Cassie pouted when talked about Beth, she bit his hand hard enough to leave an imprint and ran away before he could catch up.

Derrick stood there in daze, Shaking his head he walked away.

He walked out of his house, down the road. After two turns he arrived at the house where Beth was living with her mother.

Click!

Since Beth had given him a key, Derrick did not bother to knock and just directly walked in. He glanced around and noticed that Ruth was sleeping in her room.

So he directly went upstairs.

He pushed the workshop door open.

Squeak.

Inside, Beth was leaning over her cluttered workbench, examining a small brass component.

Hearing the door, she pushed her goggles up onto her forehead and wiped a smudge of oil off her cheek.

"Derrick?" she asked, offering a faint smile. "You’re here early."

"I had something to talk to you about." Derrick said, stepping inside and shutting the door behind him.

Clack.

"I’m leaving in a month for the Golden Dawn Academy."

Beth froze.

The small tool in her hand slipped from her fingers, hitting the wooden table with a quiet clatter.

Clink.

The brightness on her face completely vanished, replaced by a sudden, heavy sadness.

She looked down at her worktable, her shoulders slumping as the room fell quiet.

Derrick walked closer to her, noticing how she had gone silent.

"Hey," he asked softly. "What is it? Tell me."

Beth took a slow, trembling breath, keeping her eyes fixed on her hands.

"How long will you be away... a year? Two?" she murmured.

She slowly looked up at him, her eyes soft and shining with unshed tears.

"I don’t want to be away from you, Derrick," she whispered, her voice cracking slightly.

"I’m going to miss you so much."

Derrick stared down at her, his dark eyes softened. He stepped right into her space, he placed his hands on her cheek and traced his thumb across it tenderly.

With one hand, he lifted her chin gently, brushing his thumb over her skin.

"Beth..." he murmured low.

He leaned down and pressed his lips firmly against hers.

Mmph.

Beth let out a soft, shuddering gasp against his mouth, her arms instantly reaching around his waist to pull him closer.

She clung to him tight, burying herself in the deep, sweet warmth of the kiss. As if she was afraid he might disappear right there and then.

Derrick stepped right up against her, trapping her back firmly against the heavy workbench.

Clatter.

A few apparatuses clattered against the oak wood as he leaned over her. He wrapped his hands around her waist, pulling her body flush against his.

His lips came down hard on hers, deep and demanding. His tongue slid inside, taking full control as he tasted her deeply.

Her arms wrapped tightly around his neck, her fingers tangling into his hair as she pulled him closer.

Derrick’s hands slid lower, cupping the curve of her hips and lifting her up slightly onto the edge of the table.

He pulled her tight against his thigh, his hardness pressed against her soft core.

Beth groaned softly into the kiss, arching her back into his touch. Before she knew it, she was slowly grinding against him.

His hand slipped beneath the hem of her shirt, his bare palm pressing against the smooth, hot skin of her waist.

His thumb traced up her ribcage, making her shiver against his chest.

Derrick broke the kiss for a second, trailing his lips down her jaw to bite gently at the sensitive curve of her neck.

Gasp.

"Derrick..." Beth whimpered, her head tilting back as her nails dug into his dark shirt.

Derrick pulled back just an inch, his heavy, dark eyes locked onto hers.

Both of their breaths came fast and uneven in the quiet workshop. His hand stayed tucked inside her shirt, feeling her heart hammering wildly against her cupped breasts.

"I’m not leaving today, Beth," Derrick rasped, his voice low and dark.

"I still have thirty days."

Beth looked up at him, her lips swollen, flushed, and gleaming.

"Thirty days go by so fast..." she whispered softly.

Derrick stroked the nudge pressing upwards from within her bra with his thumb, a faint, rare smile touching his lips.

"Then let’s not waste a second of it," he murmured.

"Go out with me tomorrow."

Beth blinked, her chest rising and falling heavily.

"A... date?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.

"A date," Derrick nodded, his hand sliding down to squeeze her hip firmly. "Just you and me."

A deep, burning blush spread all the way down her neck.

The lingering sadness in her eyes completely melted away, replaced by a shy, eager spark.

"Yes," Beth whispered, reaching up to pull his face back down for another hot, lingering kiss.

"Tomorrow."

Derrick smirked against her lips, giving her body one last firm squeeze before slowly pulling his hand out from her shirt.

He stepped back, letting her settle back onto her feet.

"I’ll pick you up," he said smoothly.

...

The next evening arrived.

Derrick walked down the quiet, dusk-lit street toward Beth’s home attached to the workshop. He was dressed in a two piece Black suit with a white shirt underneath.

Despite how simple his outfit seemed, it suited him well.

He stepped up to the front door and knocked instead of just walking in.

Knock, knock.

A moment later, the key turned inside the lock.

Click.

The door opened, and Beth stood in the doorway.

She had cleaned up. The messy alchemist from last day was nowhere to be found.

Beth was now looking devastatingly beautiful.

She was wearing a soft, dark crimson dress that wrapped tightly around her waist, accentuating every gentle curve of her body.

Her hair fell loose over her bare shoulders, and her cheeks were flushed with a shy, rosy pink.
