Chapter 224: 224 | Breaking the Black Sun

Across the central pit of the Heavenly Colosseum, thousands spectators held their breath as the dark-gold edge of the Profound Void-Yang Blade caught the morning sun.

On the western side of the stage, Mo Yan felt a suffocating chill grip on his chest.

As the foremost Core Disciple of the Black-Sun Sect, he had expected Lin Tian to draw an Low Tier blade at best. Instead, the weapon resting in Lin Tian’s grasp radiated a crushing, authority that overshadowed the Blood-Sun Saber Elder Mo had bestowed upon him.

Worse still, Lin Tian’s pupils held neither hesitation nor doubt—only the cold calculation of an executioner deciding where to strike first.

No! I am the number one genius of the Black-Sun Sect! How can I lose to crimson nimbus sect disciple?!

Humiliation and cornered madness take over Mo Yan. Biting down savagely on the tip of his tongue, he crushed two dark-scarlet Blood-Marrow Pills hidden behind his molars.

BOOM!

A murky pillar of blood-red Qi erupted from his body, tearing his sect robes to shreds. Veins bulged along his neck like writhing vipers as the burned heart-blood pushed his aura across the threshold into an artificial Half-Step Core Formation pressure that cracked the floor.

Down on the supervision bench, Instructor Qing gripped the edge of the stone table, her dark eyes narrowing sharply as she watched the thick scarlet mist wrap around Mo Yan’s weapon.

In the ring, Mo Yan spat a mouthful of blazing blood directly onto the flat of his weapon.

The hidden runes of Refined Blood-Bone buried within the saber’s core let out a ravenous, ghostly howl as it drank its wielder’s blood. Three illusory black suns materialized behind Mo Yan’s shoulders, radiating waves of scorching, corrosive heat across the stage.

"Die, Lin Tian!"

Mo Yan roared like a crazed beast and lunged forward, crossing the distance in a crimson flash. Raising the saber with both hands, he brought the full weight of his blood-qi crashing down.

"Black-Sun Secret Art—Three-Sun Blood Annihilation!"

A sweeping crescent of dark-scarlet saber fire tore across the floor, carving a deep furrow through the array-reinforced stone.

Up in the Frost-Moon Valley Viewing Terrace, Su Ling’s expression grew serious as she watched the fierce assault. Her fingers tightened around her scabbard. Facing such a desperate attack in an enclosed ring would have forced even her to use multiple defensive layers to absorb its momentum.

In the center of the stage, Lin Tian did not retreat a single step.

Inside his golden pupils, crimson runes rotated silently.

Insight Eye.

Through the blinding scarlet glare, Lin Tian saw the internal runes of the Blood-Sun Saber straining under the unstable surge of demonic blood-qi. Just above the crossguard, right where the Blood-Bone Iron core joined the outer forged seam, the spiritual pathways were vibrating out of harmony.

Deep within Lin Tian’s Dantian, the vast golden ocean of his Ancient Foundation stirred.

Unleashing his full strength, he channeled a roaring torrent of pure golden Liquid Qi and Primordial Yang straight into the blood-grooves of the Profound Void-Yang Blade!

HUMMM—!

A low, resonant roar—like an ancient sun waking from the depths of an abyss—shook the stage.

The crimson-gold runes along the dark-gold blade flared to life. Planting his legs firmly into the floor, Lin Tian gripped the hilt and swung upward in a clean, unadorned diagonal cleave.

There was no flashy sword light—only a heavy arc trailing a ribbon of pure Primordial Yang Qi that struck the incoming blood crescent dead center!

RIIIP—BOOM!

Like hot iron slicing through rotten silk, the Profound Void-Yang Blade cleaved the scarlet wave cleanly in two. Before Mo Yan could even register the shock, Lin Tian’s rising edge slammed directly into the descending saber—striking precisely at that structural seam above the guard!

CLANG—WUUUUM!!

A deafening metallic explosion echoed off the nine dragon pillars.

In the Sky-Pillar Sword Sect’s Viewing Terrace, Jian Wuchen stood up abruptly, his gaze locked onto the point of collision below.

When pure Yang Qi struck a corrupted demonic artifact at its weakest structural seam, it triggered an irreversible spiritual collapse.

The Blood-Sun Saber violently convulsed!

Lin Tian’s Yang Qi forced its way through the seam and tore into the saber’s internal channels, rupturing the formation pathways. Along the blackened blade, the blood-carved runes flared violently, turned pitch-black, and burned into foul gray cinders.

SKRRRR—!

Unable to withstand the righteous Yang force, the corrupted Blood-Bone Iron core violently rejected the forced blood sacrifice. With an agonizing, ghostly screech, the saber disgorged its accumulated demonic blood-essence in a pressurized, boiling crimson spray! The weapon’s spiritual light was completely extinguished, leaving the blackened blade scarred, inert, and spiritually dead.

"Puah—!"

The violent spiritual backlash struck Mo Yan like a battering ram. The shockwave split the webbing of both his hands to the bone, ripping the dead saber from his grip as a fountain of foul blood erupted from his lips.

Staggering backward, Mo Yan looked through the clearing smoke and saw Lin Tian step forward—completely untouched, his golden eyes colder than winter frost.

Remembering Zhao Lie’s shattered limbs, sheer terror overwhelmed him. Mo Yan threw himself backward toward the white boundary line and opened his bloodstained mouth:

"I—!"

Whoosh!

Lin Tian blurred across the gap before the second word could form.

Refusing to violate the rule against killing inside the ring, Lin Tian twisted his wrist mid-air and drove the wide, heavy flat of the broadsword horizontally across Mo Yan’s jaw and chest.

WHAM—CRACK!

The brutal slap caved in Mo Yan’s ribs while snapping his jaw shut in a spray of shattered teeth and blood—instantly choking off the surrender.

The lateral momentum spun Mo Yan into the air. Before he could hit the floor, Lin Tian stepped forward, reversed his grip, and brought the heavy Blade crashing straight down onto Mo Yan’s right shoulder and saber-arm!

CRACK—BOOM!

From collarbone to wrist, every bone and meridian in Mo Yan’s arm was broken. The sheer downward force slammed him back-first into the stage, carving a crater into the floor and leaving him embedded in the fractured stone, twitching helplessly as blood bubbled from his ruined mouth.

Across the entire Heavenly Colosseum, dead silence fell.

First Zhao Lie, and now the Black-Sun Sect’s foremost Core Disciple—both ruthlessly dismantled in a single exchange before they could even utter a concession.

As Lin Tian calmly lifted the pommel off Mo Yan’s ruined shoulder, his Insight Eye caught something beneath the stage.

All around the crater, the pool of blood Mo Yan had vomited—along with the thick demonic blood-essence disgorged by the dead saber—was sinking into the cracked floor seams at unnatural speed.

Deep beneath the floor of Stage One, the Demonic Blood-Sacrifice Spike drank the concentrated essence, pulsing with subterranean light. Its capacity surged from ninety percent straight to ninety-nine percent. Only a fraction remained before the underground formation would awaken.

Lin Tian looked up toward the Black-Sun Sect’s Viewing Terrace.

At the balustrade, Elder Mo was shouting furiously for disciples to bring back. Yet beneath the old man’s livid expression, Lin Tian caught a fleeting, fanatical trace of satisfaction in his eyes.

He didn’t care about Mo Yan, Lin Tian confirmed coldly.

He used his own disciple’s blood and corrupted weapon to push the underground spike to ninety-nine percent.

With a casual flick of his leg, Lin Tian sent Mo Yan’s limp body rolling across the boundary line and down the western steps.

"Mo Yan is unconscious outside the boundary!" the chief referee declared, his voice trembling slightly. "Winner of the First Semi-Final—Lin Tian of the Crimson Nimbus Sect!"

Thunderous cheers erupted from the stands.

Shortly after the stage was cleared, the Second Semi-Final took place between Jian Wuchen of the Sky-Pillar Sword Sect and Tie Shan of the Iron-Peak Sect.

Even against Tie Shan’s rock-hard body-refining defense, Jian Wuchen ended the match in three clean strokes of his silver sword, forcing an immediate concession without breaking a sweat.

As the midday sun reached its peak, the announcement took place of the final match.

Grand Final of the Regional Tournament: Lin Tian (Crimson Nimbus Sect) vs. Jian Wuchen (Sky-Pillar Sword Sect)
