Chapter 191: 191 | The Night Before Departure

Night covered Alchemy Peak in deep quiet.

Elder Liu stood alone in her private chamber, her official tasks fully complete. The jade bottles prepared for the Regional Tournament were sealed and recorded. The final instructions for her disciples were left in perfect order. Every duty expected of a Peak Master was fulfilled.

Yet rest escaped her.

She sat for a long time beneath the soft glow of a spirit lamp, emerald robes still arranged with Matriarch dignity. Her cultivation remained stable. Her Core Formation foundation sat firm in her Dantian. The old Pill Toxicity was long gone. Her meridians remained clear, and her physical strength stood at its peak.

What disturbed her was quieter than illness.

The Verdant Flame inside her body burned steadily, yet it grew restless when left alone too long. Since she had accepted Lin Tian’s Primordial Yang Essence, that flame had learned a different warmth. It remembered him. When he was near, it settled. When he was far, it listened for a second heat that belonged to it.

Elder Liu pressed her hand lightly against her lower abdomen.

Tomorrow, before dawn, the sect’s flying spiritual ship would rise. Elders, core disciples, and tournament representatives would board together. The spiritual ship was a massive vessel, yet its inner cabins were separated by thin array walls. Core Formation divine sense would sweep the corridors constantly. Elders would share tea in the central pavilion. Casual disappearances would draw unwanted eyes. Even a Core Formation Matriarch slipping into a junior disciple’s room would spark immediate rumors.

Tonight was different.

Tonight still belonged to silence.

She rose and removed her formal robes. In their place she put on a simple dark veil and a plain outer cloak meant for concealed movement. Stripped of all Alchemy Peak insignia and rank, she looked at herself in the bronze mirror. The woman staring back shed the public face of a Peak Master. She looked only like someone going to the person she could no longer keep away from.

"I am going because I want him," she whispered to her own reflection.

That truth settled in her chest with surprising steadiness.

She left Alchemy Peak under the cover of darkness.

---

Cloud-Sea Pavilion stood quiet beneath the night mist.

Lin Tian sensed her before she reached the outer gate.

A familiar Core Formation presence, carefully restrained, approached through the dark paths of the Inner Sect. He remained seated, simply adjusting the isolation arrays around the pavilion and opening a silent path through them.

Elder Liu entered the private courtyard as the gates parted for her.

By the time she stepped into his chamber, the arrays had already sealed behind her. The noise of the sect fell away. Only the low light of the room and the faint scent of spirit tea remained.

Lin Tian stood near the table, still in simple dark robes. His golden eyes rested on her veiled figure with calm certainty.

"You came yourself," he said.

Elder Liu lifted the veil from her face.

Under the chamber light her features looked softer than they ever did in public. The authority she wore in the Grand Hall was gone. What remained was a mature woman of composed beauty, her gaze carrying both restraint and open need. Appearance around forty, real age far heavier, yet in this moment none of that rank mattered.

She took one step toward him, then another.

The Irresistible Yang Scent around Lin Tian reached her fully as she came close. Gentle, dense, and familiar. Her resting Verdant Flame stirred the moment that presence wrapped around her senses. A soft shiver slipped through her shoulders.

Her legs weakened from the sheer force of recognition.

She went to him and pressed herself against his chest, her hands closing tightly in his robe as if she had been holding that movement back for too long.

"Master..."

Her voice was quiet, but clear.

"I finished everything. The pills, the records, the arrangements for the Peak. The final batch is already in Madam Shen’s hands. She will distribute them to the representatives at dawn."

Lin Tian’s hand rose to her back, steady and calm.

Elder Liu breathed in against him, her gaze dropping for a moment as the warmth of his body sank into her.

"Tomorrow we board the flying spiritual ship," she said. "Once that happens, I will be unable to come to you like this. Too many elders. Too many eyes. Too little silence."

She tilted her face up toward him.

"My Core is stable. My flame is stable. I came because both still want you. My body wants your Yang. My heart wants my Master. Before we leave, I wanted one night that belonged only to us."

The confession left zero room for pretenses.

In the sealed chamber of Cloud-Sea Pavilion, the Master of Alchemy Peak spoke as a woman who had already accepted who she belonged to.

Lin Tian studied her face.

Calm devotion filled her expression. Strength anchored her posture. Only deep bonded craving and the quiet courage of someone who had chosen to come by her own will remained.

He activated the Insight Eye.

A clean panel unfolded before him.

[Ding!]

[Target Profile Updated: Elder Liu]

[Cultivation: Core Formation (Middle Stage) — Stable]

[Verdant Flame Physique: Nourished and Resonant]

[Obsession Level: 85% → 88%]

Lin Tian closed the panel.

His hand moved from her back to her waist, drawing her fully against him. Elder Liu exhaled at the contact, soft and unrestrained, as if that single pull had already loosened something she had kept tightly held through the entire day.

"You chose the night well," he said.

Elder Liu’s hands tightened in his robe.

"Then take me," she whispered. "Take your woman. Take your cauldron. Leave your fire with me before the ship rises."

Lin Tian bent slightly, enough for his breath to touch her ear.

"As you wish."

He lifted her into his arms effortlessly. Elder Liu yielded completely. Her head rested against his shoulder, emerald hair spilling over his arm as he carried her toward the inner bedchamber.

The inner bedchamber was dim, lit only by a single moonstone embedded in the ceiling. The air was cool and still, carrying the faint scent of sandalwood.

He laid her down on the dark silk sheets. The isolation arrays around Cloud-Sea Pavilion held firm, sealing the room from every divine sense in the sect.

Outside, the Inner Sect slept beneath the late night sky, waiting for the tournament departure at dawn. Inside, the Matriarch who had walked across the sect under a plain veil was claimed by the only man she now wanted.

Lin Tian looked down at her.

Elder Liu gazed back, her expression holding pure devotion, stripped of rank and distance.

The night before departure had begun.
