Immortal Sword Master
Chapter 486 - 482: White Dragon Hall, a Good Connection
Chapter 486: Chapter 482: White Dragon Hall, a Good Connection
The voice belonged to a woman. A heroic and valiant woman slowly descended from the sky.
She wore a suit of form-fitting, silver-white soft Armor. It clung to her slender frame, accentuating her tall, athletic build.
She wore a silver helmet shaped like a Phoenix, and a white cape billowed in the wind behind her. She looked like an ancient War God descending from the heavens—so majestic one dared not look at her directly.
Beside her stood a burly, middle-aged man dressed in yellow. Though powerfully built, his presence was far less imposing than the woman’s.
"That’s Bai Yuyun, Hall Master of the White Dragon Hall, and Huang Xiangyun, Hall Master of the Yellow Dragon Hall."
Meng Haoran was startled to see them.
He quickly turned to Ning Jiang and explained, "Ning Xiaoyou, the Dragon God Celestial Palace is the foremost power in the East Sea. It has Eight Major Sub-Palaces, each presiding over one of the Eight Great Seas. The sub-palace in the Meteor Sea Region is the Yellow Dragon Hall, led by Hall Master Huang Xiangyun. But the woman next to him is even more extraordinary. She is the master of the White Dragon Hall in the Chaotic Sea Region..."
According to Meng Haoran, the strengths of the Dragon God Celestial Palace’s Eight Major Sub-Palaces varied.
The Meteor Sea Region, being a shallow-sea area, was the weakest. Consequently, the Yellow Dragon Hall was the weakest of the eight sub-palaces, and its Hall Master was only a Two-Stars King.
The White Dragon Hall, however, was a different story.
The White Dragon Hall was located in the Chaotic Sea Region, a deep-sea area that ranked among the top four of the East Sea’s Eight Great Seas. The Human and Demon Races coexisted there, and conflict was frequent, making the region true to its chaotic name.
Bai Yuyun presided over the White Dragon Hall in this region. She was renowned for her might, having reached the level of a Five-Stars King. She could even hold her own in a battle against a Six-Stars King.
’The East Sea is indeed far stronger than the Six Eastern Provinces.’
Ning Jiang reflected on this with some awe.
’The power of a single Hall Master of the White Dragon Hall could crush all Seven Great Super Sects of the Six Eastern Provinces. And the White Dragon Hall is just one of the Dragon God Celestial Palace’s sub-palaces. Just how immense is the might of the entire Dragon God Celestial Palace?’
’Of course, the Seven Great Super Sects are probably not as simple as they appear on the surface...’
"Hall Master Huang, Hall Master Bai, you honor us with your presence. Please forgive me for not greeting you sooner."
The Meteor King cupped his fists and bowed. Not only were these two more powerful than him, but the name of the Dragon God Celestial Palace they represented was enough to make countless Kings treat them with reverence.
In the East Sea, only that mysterious organization, the Other Shore, dared to provoke the Dragon God Celestial Palace.
"There’s no need for such formalities. We’ve been operating in secret, so it’s natural you weren’t aware of our arrival."
Bai Yuyun waved dismissively. She had a slender figure and a cascade of black hair, but her voice carried an immense authority.
Her voice was also quite beautiful—as pleasant as the tinkling of a spring.
"I’ve felt like I was being watched in secret. I take it that was you."
Just then, Ning Jiang spoke up.
With his level of Cultivation, he couldn’t pinpoint where the two Kings were hiding, but he could faintly sense their presence.
"Oh? Worthy of someone on the Hidden Dragon List. I’m surprised you could sense us."
Hall Master Huang Xiangyun’s eyes narrowed. He studied Ning Jiang for a moment before speaking. "We came because we were concerned the Other Shore might make a move against you, so we’ve been protecting you from the shadows. But they were very cautious this time. They only sent out a small fry; the big fish never showed itself."
"If you were just guarding against the Other Shore, wouldn’t Hall Master Huang have been sufficient? Why did Hall Master Bai come all this way as well?"
Meng Haoran asked in surprise.
Ever since the Undying Celestial King personally acted and killed many of the Other Shore’s experts, their Top Level Kings have rarely made an appearance.
If one of these Top Level Kings were to act, they would likely be detected by the Undying Celestial King, whose terrifying Power is vast enough to blanket the entire East Sea.
This Power is like a vast net. Small fry can slip through its mesh undetected, but the moment a big fish stirs, it will be found.
Therefore, even if the Other Shore sent an assassin for Ning Jiang, it would be a Junior Level King of One or Two Stars at most. They wouldn’t send anyone stronger.
Besides, Ning Jiang was only in the Immortal Realm. He wasn’t worth the risk for a middle or High Level King to take action.
"I came for him."
Bai Yuyun cut straight to the chase. Her eyes fell on Ning Jiang. "Alright, the rest of you may leave. I have something to discuss with him alone."
"Very well."
Neither Meng Haoran nor Huang Xiangyun objected and promptly withdrew. Though both were Hall Masters, Bai Yuyun’s standing was far above Huang Xiangyun’s, so he had no choice but to obey.
After all, Huang Xiangyun had only come as Bai Yuyun’s escort.
"They’re gone now. What did you wish to say, Hall Master Bai?" Ning Jiang asked calmly. Even when facing a Five-Stars King, his tone was neither humble nor arrogant—he spoke as an equal.
"The Undying Celestial King is very interested in you!"
Bai Yuyun got straight to the point. The information in that single sentence was astonishing. A Celestial King of his stature was actually paying attention to Ning Jiang?
Bai Yuyun continued slowly, "Ning Jiang, how should I address you? As the Master of the Myriad Swords Sect from the Six Eastern Provinces? Or as the foremost expert of the younger generation in the Six Eastern Provinces? To think that even a Sword King Body fell at your hands... It’s truly unexpected."
"You’re quite well-informed," Ning Jiang said, his eyes narrowing.
"You shouldn’t be surprised. What kind of power do you think the Dragon God Celestial Palace is? With our Energy, investigating you wasn’t difficult. Besides, the Meteor Sea Region is adjacent to the Six Eastern Provinces, so these things are easy enough to verify."
Bai Yuyun was forthright. "But don’t worry, the Dragon God Celestial Palace has no ill will toward you. I came here on the order of the Undying Celestial King. He wishes to form a bond of goodwill with you."
"A bond of goodwill?" Ning Jiang asked, a wry smile on his face.
"That’s right. Do you know the purpose of the Hidden Dragon List? It is the Undying Celestial King’s method for selecting geniuses. Those who distinguish themselves are recruited into the Dragon God Celestial Palace. The Hidden Dragon List is a major reason why the Celestial Palace is as powerful as it is today."
"However, through all the iterations of the Hidden Dragon List, not one person has ever truly satisfied the Undying Celestial King. He’s waiting for someone one-of-a-kind. Waiting for..."
Here, Bai Yuyun paused, her voice becoming as heavy as iron. "...someone who can one day take his place!"
Ning Jiang looked up at the sky. "It seems the Undying Celestial King’s life is truly nearing its end."
’Ning Jiang knew perfectly well that even if the Undying Celestial King had broken through the ten-thousand-year lifespan limit, he wouldn’t have much Time left—a century at most.’
’The Undying Celestial King may be called ’Undying,’ but in this world, who can achieve true Immortality?’
’Even Venerables eventually perish, their Dao fading away.’
"A thousand years ago, the Undying Celestial King found such a person. But... he is gone now..."
Bai Yuyun murmured, her gaze growing distant and her expression filled with sorrow.
