Immortal Sword Master
Chapter 456 - 452: Body Refining, Remolding the Self
Chapter 456: Chapter 452: Body Refining, Remolding the Self
The Chu Family’s large ship sailed on the sea for five days.
Five days later.
An island came into view. It was picturesque, with verdant mountains and clear waters, spanning dozens of miles and brimming with a spiritual aura.
"We’re finally back."
Many of the Chu Family guards were visibly emotional. This voyage had been their most perilous one yet, and they had come dangerously close to being wiped out by the Blood Skull Pirate Gang.
Fortunately, someone had come to their rescue.
At this thought, all eyes turned to Hua Feiyu at the bow of the ship, filled with gratitude.
"We owe it all to Young Master Hua this time."
The men agreed.
RUMBLE!
Dark clouds blanketed the sky, and a sinister wind began to howl. It stirred up enormous waves on the sea, which crashed toward them in mountain-high layers.
"Look at this damn weather. A storm’s about to hit."
"And by the looks of it, it’s going to be a big one."
"I haven’t seen a storm this intense in decades."
Many of the guards were alarmed. They saw the sea churning, and the large ships docked on the shores of Cyan Spirit Island were being battered and tossed about.
Even the ship beneath them began to shudder. And this was just the prelude; once the storm truly hit, it would likely be more than ten times as fierce.
"Young Master Hua, with a storm about to hit, why not stay on Cyan Spirit Island for a few days?"
"That’s right. You saved our lives, Young Master Hua. We want to properly host you."
"Please, Young Master Hua, don’t refuse. It’s the least we can do to show our gratitude."
The guards all chimed in, trying to persuade Hua Feiyu to stay as their guest.
"Well..."
Hua Feiyu glanced at Chu Qingqing, seemingly waiting for her to ask him to stay.
After a moment’s hesitation, Chu Qingqing said, "You saved us, so we are indebted to you. It’s only right that we host you. Please don’t refuse."
"It’s hard to refuse such a gracious invitation. In that case, it would be rude of me not to accept." Hua Feiyu laughed heartily and agreed.
"That fraud!"
Elsewhere, Chu Xiu’Er watched Hua Feiyu, the center of everyone’s attention, her face filled with anger. She glanced at the silent Ning Jiang beside her, and her heart ached. ’All the credit should be his, but no one is willing to believe it.’
"Brother Ning, please come be a guest at our Chu Family home, won’t you? I’ll go tell Father it was you who saved us. He’ll definitely believe me."
Chu Xiu’Er said hopefully, tugging on Ning Jiang’s sleeve.
However, before Ning Jiang could answer, a cool voice cut in from the side. "Absolutely not. We rescued him from the sea, and that’s more than enough. To us, he is still a stranger. It is time for us to part ways."
The speaker was Chu Qingqing.
For the past few days, she had been trying to keep Chu Xiu’Er away from Ning Jiang. But her usually obedient sister had argued with her several times because of it. Consequently, she naturally blamed Ning Jiang for the trouble, and her dislike for him grew.
’Now that she finally had a chance to be rid of Ning Jiang, how could she possibly allow him into the Chu Family’s home?’
"No! I’m going to invite Brother Ning to be our guest."
Chu Xiu’Er’s voice was firm, a rare display of stubbornness.
"Xiu’Er, stop this foolishness!"
Chu Qingqing snapped.
Chu Xiu’Er gritted her teeth, unafraid. "I’m not being foolish," she said resolutely. "Brother Ning is the one who saved us! Sister, you can’t treat him like this."
"Still spouting nonsense." Chu Qingqing was seething, her face as cold as frost.
Just as the two sisters, who were usually so close, were about to break into a fierce argument, a voice cut in. "That’s enough, Xiu’Er. I appreciate the thought, but all good things must come to an end. It really is time for me to go."
"Brother Ning!" Chu Xiu’Er cried out, grabbing his sleeve, her face a picture of reluctance.
Ning Jiang smiled and patted her head. "If fate wills it, we will meet again."
Then, Ning Jiang turned to Chu Qingqing and said coolly, "Chu Qingqing, you and Xiu’Er saved me by killing that Demon Snake on the open sea. For that, I was in your debt. But now, that debt is cleared. We owe each other nothing."
As soon as he finished speaking, Ning Jiang stepped off the ship.
"Hmph, the nerve of him! Our Chu Family pulled him from the sea and saved his life. When did he ever repay us for that?"
"Does he really think he’s the one who killed the Blood Skull Pirate Gang and saved us? How ridiculous."
Watching Ning Jiang’s departing figure, many of the guards began to jeer.
Meanwhile, Chu Qingqing frowned, her thoughts suddenly a tangled mess. She felt that with Ning Jiang’s departure, she had somehow lost something forever...
"Sister, you’ll definitely regret this."
Chu Xiu’Er’s angry voice echoed in her ears.
...
After leaving the ship, Ning Jiang didn’t linger on Cyan Spirit Island. He took to the air, flying out over the boundless sea.
As time passed, the sky grew darker.
In the sky, black clouds rolled and massed together, like a great army laying siege to a city. The world was plunged into dimness as a fierce, knife-like wind raged without end.
The sea’s surface was a tumult of towering waves. As far as the eye could see, there was not another soul in sight.
BOOM!
Finally, the first Thunderbolt fell, crashing into the sea.
The seawater erupted, and a few unlucky Demon Beasts were instantly obliterated by the Thunderbolt.
SPLASH!
The instant the Thunderbolt cracked, a torrential downpour began, blurring the entire world. Raindrops the size of beans pelted down, stinging the skin on impact.
"The heavens are on my side."
Ning Jiang stood firm in the sky, in the midst of the raging storm.
His robes whipped wildly in the wind, yet the storm was repelled three feet from his body. At this moment, his eyes lit up with delight as he murmured:
"To bring my Nine Tribulations Celestial Thunder Body to the Perfection realm, I must harness Celestial Thunder Power. The amount required is astronomical; an ordinary storm is nowhere near enough. Only a massive storm like this, the kind seen only once in decades, will allow me to achieve Perfection."
SWOOSH!
He transformed into a streak of light and shot straight into the clouds. The moment he entered, the rampaging Thunderbolts within surged toward his body.
The Thunderbolts were as thick as Thunder Pythons, radiating an overbearing, Supreme Yang and Firm aura.
"Heaven-Devouring Demon Skill, devour!"
Instead of being alarmed by the Thunderbolts, Ning Jiang was overjoyed. He activated his Heaven-Devouring Demon Skill, and a terrifying Devouring Power erupted from his body. Like a massive vortex, he began to frantically absorb the Thunder Power.
For any normal person, this would be suicide.
But the key to the Nine Tribulations Celestial Thunder Body that Ning Jiang cultivated was refinement by Thunderbolt.
"This feels amazing."
Bathing in the roiling Thunderbolts, Ning Jiang felt like a fish in water, a soothing sensation spreading through his entire body. As the Thunderbolts continued to pour into him, his aura began to strengthen.
’Shatter my bones and be reborn, remold myself.’
Eventually, he began to guide the vast Thunder Power, using it to repeatedly shatter his bones and meridians, only to remold them time and time again.
